Crocheted Hat from The United Kingdom
Thank you Julie T. from across the big pond (United Kingdom) for this thoughtful donation. This hat is nice and stretching and will work for a variety of head sizes which is awesome. I love that it's a nice color suitable for either a Man or Woman. Thank you also Julie for tagging the hat with the size, that is so helpful to me as I separate donations for where they will end up and likewise for the various volunteers at the shelters.
How truly sweet of you to offer your help for Ohio's Homeless all the way from England!
Hope to see you here often on Bridge and Beyond.

The Unknown Soldier Could be Homeless
This comic is definitely food for thought. This is so sadly true. A very large percentage of homeless across our country are in fact Veterans that we owe a great deal to. We owe more than a life on the street wondering if they'll survive a cold night or extreme summer temperatures and dehydration. And while some headway is being made thanks to our First Lady Michele Obama's Major's programs,
to house the homeless Veterans, much work is still needed.
Posts you might have missed discussing the homeless Veterans problems
Marine Corp Jerry's Freezing Death
Or Marine Murdough's sad Death here
Clearly show that.
Please keep your yarn at hand and hooks and needles busy.

Sorry Lola
Last night was the end of the month long yarn bombing Lola style contest and the winner was to be announced today. There is no winner to announce, as there were no participants I'm sad to report. I had hoped we'd have some fun pictures to look at, but apparently it just wasn't what people were interested in doing.
Sorry Lola.
Pop in tomorrow and check out what's happening, and remember even when you can't knit or crochet due to time constraints or lack of knowing how, you can still help Bridge and Beyond by visiting and leaving comments. Please let us know you were here.
Thank you.

Don't Try This at Home
Every now and then you see examples of things people posts as the ugliest thing to do with yarn, or what not to do with yarn..........the title under this was pajamas. Not making a statement about the guys here, this was on a crochet site. I can't even imagine dressing a little wee one in p.j.'s like this, lol
Don't try this at home, PLEASE use your yarn wisely! Though they are colorful....seriously this is the worst thing I've think I've ever seen as an example of what not to do with yarn, your time...
What say you?

Surprise, What's in the Bag Afghan
Sometime back I blogged about this HERE, click to see the pictures even if you don't want to read the post, the short version is 2 different styled ghans had apparently been started, they couldn't be put together, the rows that were together were too wide to have enough to continue and make a ghan, and those that were together were...mixed, in that some were stitched, some were crocheted and so I'm now beginning to stitch together. There aren't ways of making a pattern with these squares and so.....it's a surprise. I put my hand in and pull one out........sorta. If I get one that is the same or is the same colors but different order I lay aside go fishing again. Stitching them together seemed a better option than crocheting...which is what I normally do because they are soooooo small and because some pulling of the edge took place with those that were frogged, and in some cases you can see or feel the stitch, partially I think because of how tightly crocheted they are and partially I think given their age and maybe the type of yarn.
So, clearly it will be a very traditional style granny square afghan, no pattern, black join and lots of different colors. Think I'll name this one Granny's Surprise.......but am open for suggestions from you all.
Am still working on Learning Logs and Blue Horizon. Blue Horizon is getting close to completion in that I'm on the last section.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?
I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.
Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
