Hurrah for this fantastic donation from our good friend, Sandra R from Florida, the Sunshine State. See me dancing in the streets......you know I always do when we get mittens as part of a donation! Sandra been beyond busy, seriously click to enlarge the picture so you can see all she's knitted and crochet. In this picture she has knitted mittens, hats, and a scarf with fun colors. The hats and mittens are all tagged with size and will fit a variety of sized people. You will also notice the variety of styles in her hats.
AND then this awesome Log Cabin style knitted afghan! LOVE all the colors. This sized so nice and will work for a family or indivual. The colors work for male or female. It's soft and nice and warmth. WOW!
Wait, don't go, there's more to see........really 4 more scarves. I believe these are crocheted. It's official, I don't think Sandra eats or sleeps........she must be knitting and or crocheted 24 x 7........or she's super fast!
Wonderful donation that will touch so many in need. As always thanks for all you do, and please keep up the good work.

18 Degrees in Central Ohio, Thank you Phyllis for Helping the Homeless
Spotted this picture the other day on Facebook, it's not local...it's not even here in the United States. This pictures was taken on Ha'Penny Bridge in Dublin. But, isn't this a wonderful idea. People hang their extra coats on the bridge for someone who is in need. I didn't really see an article with any information beyond the caption, so am unsure how substantial homelessness is for people in Dublin. I also don't remember there being any discussion of it when I toured Dublin a few years ago. With the exception being a reference to "travelers" that camp. Gypsies who park their trailers places. Gypsies and Travelers are both nomadic peoples, but of different ethnic origins. Travelers are Irish, while Gypsies are Romany who are said to have originated in India long long ago.
Same idea, outside a restaurant, someplace here in the US.
I'm showing you those pictures for 2 reasons:
Phyllis was very busy and made 12 hat and scarf sets, and an additional 3 hats. They were all very nicely made, good colors, and a variety of sizes to help warm a variety of people. I'm so sorry I don't have a picture of generous donation to share with you all. I've held off posting, as I kept looking in various files on the computer thinking I would find it.........argh, no joy I'm afraid.
Thank you Phyllis and please keep up the good work. As I type this post this morning, it is only 18 degree's out there. I'm cold here in the house, sipping my hot coffee, waiting for the furnace to warm things up. So, Please know all of you who knit, crochet, and or loom.........are indeed helping.

I'm showing you those pictures for 2 reasons:
- I found it interesting and wonder how much things like this happen that we just don't know about.
- I like having pictures with a post and for some reason, though I have a note with the count of Phyllis G's donation from the sunny Florida, I can find no picture on my computer. This is about the 3rd time I've had issues when transferring pictures from my phone to the computer. I guess in reality, only 3 pictures isn't bad......considering how many pictures I take and transfer either by emailing them to myself or by plugging in with a USB port, but.....still it's frustrating.

Long Time Supporter, Sandie P, Thank You for your Donations
Thank you Sandie P for these awesome crocheted scarves. The blue-green scarf is super soft Lion Brand Homespun Yarn. You can see it has a bit more texture, partially due to the yarn and partially due to the different stitch Sandie used. Sandie has been one of the longest supporters of Bridge and Beyond and Ohio's Homeless. Her work is always beautiful.
Sandie maintains a blog where she often does tutorials about how to do a particular stitch or how to work with a particular pattern. If you've not visited her blog, please do. These two donations of crocheted scarves came in 2 separate pouches at different times, but because I'm playing catch up, I'm posting them here together. Notice there's actually sunshine on the 2nd picture with the 3 nice gray scarves..........we don't see much of that this time of the year. Seriously, today as I'm typing it's just warmed up to 28 degrees.......yes that means it was colder earlier. It was 20 when I got out of bed this am. I'm cold here in the house, so it's beyond my comprehension how cold it must for folks living out in the elements. So, truly these warm scarves that are long enough to wrap around and wide enough to really cover the neck and chest are perfect.
Folks, please refresh your memory about what sizes, colors, and fibers are needed by reading the information in the tabs across the top of the blog for the item you're knitting or crocheting. It's important to be sure our donations meet the needs of those we serve. Please remember to stay away from white, and pastels and suede or novelty or wool yarn. We need items made that can be washed and that hold up well. If you have question not addressed in those tabs across the top of the blog, please sing out.
Thank you Sandie for your long time support and your giving heart.

Our good friend and long time supporter, Sandie P from Louisiana has donated 2 lovely crocheted scarves. Please click so you can see the texture in her stitches.
And notice the the blue one, how it changes hues.........so pretty, and yet still suitable for a male or female. A most versatile donation that will help warm anyone and put a smile on their face at the same time.
Many thanks Sandie for all you've done through the years for Bridge and Beyond. Keep em coming my friend.
Hey folks, are you notices our numbers? Our graphs in the right side bar...keep an eye on them. I get pretty excited when the numbers grow and hope all you who help do too.

Mittens, Hats Scarves and Sets, Oh My!
Thank you Sandra R from sunny Florida. Look at this wonderful donation. She truly amazes me with the quantity of work she does. I've said it before, I swear she knits without stopping to eat or sleep. She's been busy knitting hats, scarves, cotton dishcloths, and MITTENS!
You all know how excited I get when we get mittens. She always takes time to tag her mittens and hats with size......thank you very much. AND she's taken things a step farther. Check the top picture. She's attached sets. In some cases the sets are fingerless mitts, and in other cases full mittens. She watched the video I posted HERE, about how to loom knit fingerless mitts. I did this
after we received some made by Anna W that were particularly nice and very warm as they extend up the arm a good deal. Sandra said in her note to me, she thought it was fun to try something else, so she purchased a loom and went at it.
As always, many thanks for your generous donations and your long time support of Ohio's Homeless through Bridge and Beyond. You truly make a difference. Please, please keep up the good work.
***Look how are goals are coming along, it's fun to watch those graphs and numbers grow.

Scarves From Illinois Help Ohio's Homeless
Thank you Kathy S from Illinois for this thoughtful donation of crocheted scarves. Looks like Kathy's been busy making an even dozen scarves! These small scarves will be ideal for the young ones. Most of the colors are more suited for little girls, but there are also some that will work for the little guys as well.
Kathy's scarves are super soft and I'm sure the kiddo's that wrap these around their necks will be happy and warm! Kathy's donation takes our number of donated scarves to just about 1/3 of the way there. YIPPEE, love to see the numbers grow.
Many thanks Kathy and please keep up the good work.

Donation for the Homeless from Sunny Florida, Take 3
Thank you Laura E from sunny Florida for this awesome donation. I'm on a roll posting wonderful donations from our friends in the sunny state of Florida, lol. Seriously scroll back to the previous 2 posts. What's the mathematical likelihood of that happening? Donations are posted in order of receipt so I got a kick out of this.
As you can see, our friend Laura has been very busy indeed. She knitted up a storm.....look at the hats for example. So many colors and sizes and all nicely tagged with size! Something to warm lots of different heads. She's also included personal care items, scarves, socks, and cotton washcloths.
In addition to the knitted cotton washcloths, she's included store bought.
If you click to enlarge the picture, so you can see the details, you'll notice bundles...she's packaged matching scarves and hats by tying them together. That's a lovely idea, thank you!
Please keep up the good work Laura and know how much of difference you've made for Ohio's homeless and others in need with your thoughtful and generous donation.

Personal Care and More Help Homeless
Thank you Nikki S for this thoughtful donation. Nikki has included lots of variety in her latest donation, socks, personal care items, crocheted scarf, matching red scarf and gloves, and long johns. Though the calendar says it's spring....it's still dark and gloomy, still damp, still cold here in Central Ohio............particularly in the evenings for those living in the elements, so this donation of goodies was very much appreciated.
Special thanks too Nikki for hand delivering to my door! I got this donation delivered pronto to Rae, our friend who prepares hot meals on Sat mornings for those living out in the elements. She was thrilled, as she knows the need of those folks.
Thank you Nikki, and please keep up the good work.

Sunshine and More Donated from Florida for Ohio's Homeless
Please join me in being excited...see those mittens? Of course you do, and hats, and scarves from our good friend always generous supporter, Sandra R from the sunny state of Florida. Always wonderful to get a box of sunshine from Sandra. Great Colors and a nice mix of sizes to warm lots of folks in need.
But...as you see, that was only one pouch, there are more.
And another awesome corner to corner afghan. Love these colors, I find it very restful. Sandra do you eat, and sleep? Your crochet hook must be smokin at times with the amount of stuff you're able to get done. Plus the knitting of the mittens and hats etc. All are wonderful. As always, thank you for all you do. We're thrilled to have you on board here at Bridge and Beyond helping Ohio's Homeless in need.

Donations of Knitting and Crocheting from Florida for Ohio's Homeless
LOVE LOVE LOVE this!! These colors are just sooo pleasing. I think they're sorta earthy and comforting. The corner to corner design adds such dimension to the afghan. This afghan was crocheted and donated by our long time friend, Sandra R from Florida. She's sends her beautiful work to aid Ohio's Homeless once again. Someone is going to feel very loved indeed Sandra when they wrap up in this! I think from looking at it, it's a shell pattern stitch?
But, there's more! 5 wonderful scarves, some crocheted and one knitted. The knitted one is the same colors as the above awesome afghan. Sandra's has used a variety of styles and stiches in her scarves, please click to enlarge to see the details folks.
As always, please keep up the awesome work there in Florida Sandra, our Homeless here in Ohio surely appreciate you.

The Lost Scarf Picture is Found
YIPPEE!! Two posts ago I mentioned that the picture showing Sandra R's scarves had been lost. It's since been found. Somehow when transferring from phone to computer this picture ended up in the wrong file folder. How two pictures taken the same day and transferred the same day, at the same time could end up in two different folders......I am clueless. I have always transferred to my Yarn/Bridge folder and somehow this ended up in a totally unrelated folder.
The Good is now you all get to see what I saw, how nice Sandra's scarves all. Nice, thick, warm and colorful. AND...did you notice the two tone brown scarf? She's again used that method first introduced to us by Karen S. Doubled Ended Crochet. Click for the post with u-tube video describing this method of crocheting known by so many names. You might have heard of Cro-hooking, Crochenit...or Reversible Tunisian.
So am thrilled the picture's been found and I can share the picture with you. Sandra's has been a long time, generous supporter here on Bridge and Beyond. Thank you Sandra and please keep up the good work. You make a difference.

Knitting and Crocheting, A Donation with Lots of Variety
Thank you Emily K for this very thoughtful and generous donation of knitted and crocheted goodies. Take a look folks, and remember...you can always click on a picture to enlarge it to see things better or to see more detail. Emily has crocheted a pair mittens (the blue ones), and the fingerless ones, several hats, headband and scarf, as well as the cotton washcloths.
Additionally, she has knitted a pair of mittens (the gray ones). She has also included toothpaste. I'm really lovin the blue and gray scarf. Look how the yarn changes colors...I really like that. she made two hats with the same yarn. Also notice the hats are a couple of different styles.
Really nice work Emily, many thanks and please keep up the good work!

Knitting and Crocheting for Homeless
Our good friend, Karen S has been very busy with her crochet hook crafting wonderful warm scarves using her special technique. I LOVE the way they look. What's particularly cool with this donation is, she made two of the blue and gray...so, I've laid them out so you can truly see the light and dark side to fully appreciate it.
Additionally, she's been very busy with her loom and knitted 6 hats, some of which match the scarves to make sets. She always takes the time to make these cute size tags for her hats. The beauty of her method is...you don't have to purchase special tags. Small pieces of colored paper, cute with pinking shears and tied on with yarn scraps.
I stress the tags because we still get hats, mittens, and slippers without size tags and would really like again to request that all hats, slippers, and mittens have size tags attached. This takes less time for the maker, then for all the volunteers to guess when sorting.
Many thanks Karen, and as always, please keep up the good work.

New Helping Hands Crochet for Homeless
Thank you Donna P, our newest pair of helping hands for this thoughtful donation of crocheted warmth. Donna has been busy with her crochet hook. She crocheted 2 scarves sized nicely for two young teenage girls. She's added 5 hats of various sizes to warm heads of more teens and ladies, and has crocheted always popular cotton wash cloths.
Please click to enlarge folks to see her cute size tags she's attached. Bright colored gift paper folded. Very cleaver way to tag hats with size. She's also included size on scarves, though that isn't necessary; it will be helpful.
Welcome to Bridge and Beyond, Donna. We hope to see you here often.

Colorful Crocheted Scarf for Homeless
Thank you Sandie P for this colorful and very soft scarf. I love these colors. What's this yarn called? Sandie is a long time supporter of Bridge and Beyond. We appreciate your dedication to the cause over all these years. For those who may be new to reading this blog, Sandie and I met working together on a different charity YEARS ago...Katrina hit her area and she organized a charity to help people during that time, so you know how long ago that was. Sandie and I have known each other here on line for all those years.
Thank you Sandie P, as always keep up the marvelous work.

Two Toned Crocheted Scarf for Ohio's Homeless
Fun....look at this two toned scarf. Our good friend Sandie P from Louisiana crocheted this using the same method of friend Karen S uses, Double Ended Crochet, Cro-hook. It goes by many names. I've posted a u-tube video several times on this method. It intrigues me. It's one stitch, but the shading gives it such texture...makes it look like more was done.
Thank you Sandie for your long term commitment to Ohio's homeless. I've lots track how many years we've known each. I say that, even though we've not met face to face. We've blogged, participated in many of the same groups and charities throughout the years and well after after years of doing that...you do feel like you know someone.
As always keep up the good, and thanks so much.

The Power of One is awesome, and when we work together The Power of One becomes The Power of Many.

Crocheted Items from Head to Toe Help Homeless
Thanks you Sarah S for this thoughtful donation of crocheted goodies. Look at the variety folks. She's been busy crocheting scarves, slippers, hats, and cotton washcloths! AND she's also included personal care items with her donation.
Special thanks for taking the time to tag your hats with size, it is so helpful and such a huge time saver...both for me here at the house and for the various volunteers in the homeless shelters. When they are tagged, it assists getting the item on the right shelf and into the hands of those in need quicker.
Thank you Sarah, was so nice to hear from you again. Look forward to seeing you here again on Bridge and Beyond. Thank you for your long time support of Bridge and Beyond and the Homeless we serve.
Please keep up the good work.

Caring for Homeless in Ohio Through Crochet
Thank you Barbara F for this wonderful donation and your long term support of Bridge and Beyond. We truly appreciate all your efforts. As you can see, Barbara has been busy with her crochet hook. She crocheted, hats and scarves. What a fun scarf the black and blue mix is. Please click to enlarge the picture so you can see the details.
Special thanks for tagging all the hats with size. What nice looking tags you made. It really jazzing up the item, doesn't it. Makes it look more like a gift. Really lovely.
AND look at the personal care items.........specifically the female products. There are never enough female products for women in shelters. Many thanks for your thoughtfulness, Barbara. Please know you are making a difference is the quality of someone's life.
Keep up the good work!

Where are You and Your Yarn From?
I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.
Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
