Crocheted Donation from Upstate New York

Look at this wonderful donation from our good friend from upstate New York, Annemarie D.  Annemarie's been a long time and generous supporter of Bridge and Beyond and Ohio's Homeless.    She's included something for everyone here with her crocheted donation.  A couple of sets of matching hats and scarves...one set even has a pair of fingerless mitts.  Cotton socks which are always in need and appreciated, as well as cotton washcloths in her donation.  She's been very busy with her crochet hook.

Many thanks Annemarie for your generosity and your on going support.  Special thanks too for tagging your hats with size, as well as her mitts.  I nudge everyone to do that, pair your mittens and slippers and always tag those and your hats.  It's a huge time saver in getting donated items to the right people.

Many thanks Annemarie, please keep up the good and know YOU make an important difference in the lives of others.

Crocheted Hats, Slippers, Scarves and More Help Homeless

Thank you AnneMarie D for this awesome donation.  So many goodies to help Ohio's Homeless in need.  She's been very busy, as you can see with crocheting has, fingerless gloves, slippers, scarves and cotton wash cloths.  AND she's included socks in her donation as well.  Many people will be helped by AnneMarie's generous donation.

As always, keep up the good work and know what you do, does indeed matter and does help those less fortunate.

While the weather is starting to break and warm up a bit here in central Ohio as I type this post, we've not yet passed the frost safe date and we will still have plenty of cold damp nights, so your warm items are still needed.

Crocheted Sets Warm Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Annemarie D from NY for this thoughtful and colorful donation.  Annemarie's been busy with her crochet hook making matching sets of hats and scarves.  She's also included a pair of fingerless mitss that match the bright multi-colored hat and scarf set.

Many thanks Annemarie for your on going support of Ohio's Homeless here on Bridge and Beyond, and please keep up the good work.

We're having high winds here in Central Ohio today as I type this post.  The temps are actually nicer, though I'm sure that's short lived and the winds are nasty...no doubt making those living out in the elements cold and in need of warm lovingly made donations.

And...the always popular ripple in nice spring colors.  Both afghans are soft, warm, pretty and are sized nicely for a family to enjoy snuggling in.

Donation

Day #4, A-Z challenge = D= Donation.

What is a donation?  Google says it's a noun, it's origin is Latin, and it means the act of giving, especially to a charity, a contribution.  Our donations from Bridge and Beyond  for those living outside in the elements, those living day to day in various shelters give hope.  My google search tells me a Butterfly is the symbol for Hope.  I believe we give hope as well as physical warmth with our donations of hand crafted items.  Being cold, hungry...a person needs hope.

Many people immediately think of money when someone says the word donation.  Donations can be varied.  Donations can be money, they can be time, they can be products, they can be a combination of all 3.  We don't collect or donate money here on Bridge and Beyond.  We do donate our time...the time it takes to knit or crochet a hat, the time it takes to read or write blog posts, the time it takes to read or write blog comments.  We also donate products...ie, the finished work....the hat, the scarf or pair of mittens.  We donate personal care items and socks, those too are products.

Some folks may have the ability to donate more, some don't.  It's not the volume that's important, it's that we donate.  And truly every bit of it, every completed work, every minute of time spent...it all counts for something good.

Can you donate?  You don't have to be able to knit or crochet to donate.  You can donate socks, and or personal care items.  You can donate yarn, or postage to a friend who's donating through knitting and crocheting.  You can donate your time to read and posts comments to support those who are knitting and crocheting, you can help spread the word.  Please do what you can.  Please donate to those less fortunate, if not here on Bridge and Beyond, locally.  Every donation matters to someone!

Thank you AnneMarie for this awesome donation of personal care items.  What a fabulous donation.  These are all Avon products she purchased from our other good friend, Sherry K.  What a win win donation.  Personal Care items are needed all year long for men, and women.  Those in shelters as well as those living out in the elements are always in need.

Keep up the good work AnneMarie from New York!

Team Crocheting Aids the Homeless

This afghan is the result of what I call team crochet.  A good friend of ours from New York, AnneMarie made these lovely squares, and another good friend of ours Sherry K, a fellow Buckeye edged and assembled the afghan.  What a beautiful result.  You might have seen this afghan earlier on Sherry's blog.  I love the jewel tones, it reminds me of a kaleidoscope.  Great work ladies!
Sherry's also been busy crocheting hats, slippers and a scarf .  Many thanks Sherry for tagging the hats and slippers with size, much appreciated.

Both Sherry and AnneMarie have been long time supporters of Bridge and Beyond, thrilled to have them with us.  Not too long ago, I posted a retro Avon's Calling post.  In addition to crocheting for those in need, Sherry's an Avon Representative.  I suggested you all might like to double your help by buying Avon from Sherry.  How does that help double?  Well, when you buy from Sherry, you give her the ability to get more yarn which turns into helping more people.  AND, you could even order personal care items from Sherry for the homeless here on Bridge and Beyond and help both with her Avon=yarn, and the personal care items needed for the shelters.

Or perhaps you need to do some Christmas Shopping.........Sherry's Avon Page is linked above.

Many thanks Annemarie for your thoughtful donation, and your on going support of Homeless and those i need in Ohio.  We so appreciate  you.

Slipper, Socks, Poncho's aid the Homeless

Thank you AnneMarie for your on going support of Bridge and Beyond.  AnneMarie has been with us for a good while and is always very generous and very supportive.  She's crocheted 10 pairs of slippers in various sizes, and labeled them with size.  She also included personal care items in her donation for the homeless, as well as poncho's.  The plastic poncho's are always so well received.  Trying to stay dry, even when the weather's warmer isn't all that easy to do when you're out in the elements.

And wet feet, never good so the socks she also donated are awesome.  As always, many thanks and please keep up the good work AnneMarie!

**Reminder folks to avoid using novelty yarns and suede, avoid using white, beige and other pastels, avoid lots of stripes (solids are always better for all ages), avoid bright colors as homeless do not like to call attention to themselves (with the outside garmets like hats and scarves)...so the nice darker colors are always preferred AND they don't show the dirt as much.  Please label all hats, mittens, and slippers with size.**

Hats, Scarves, Mittens, and Slippers from New York Aid Ohio's Homeless

Woot Woot!  People who help the homeless with their skilled hands and yarn make me smile.  Thank you Annemarie from New York, once again for your thoughtfulness with the vast donation of crocheted goodies.  If you've been reading this blog while you know Annemarie is a wonderful supportor giving us her time and talent.

These has, slippers, scarves, and mittens will put many smiles on faces of people less fortunate then us.  We physical warm people with our crafted donations certainly.  But, we also warm their souls when they know someone they didn't know took time to hand make something special for them.

Please keep up the good work!

Though it is spring (and now the font changes back?), it is still cold here many days and nights.  Sitting inside right now with cold feet and a fleece on if that gives you any ideas.  Donations are still needed.  So thanks to all whom are keeping their yarn and hands busy.

As some of your know I recently returned from a trip abroad, first ever!  Hubby and I were fortunate enough to travel to Spain.  It was truly an awesome experience.  Love to share it all with you, and am blogging about it everyday this month (May) on Traveling Suitcase.  Come explore with me, travel virtually while you knit and crochet.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
