Scarf #21 AND 22 AND 23 AND 24 !!!

crocheted scarf
knitted scarf
crocheted scarves

Wow...sure have had a time getting this posted. This is the 3rd try!!! The 2 tone knitted scarf is one I made which is really warm and thick. The 2 pictured together (blue and green), are crocheted from Sandie, and the darkest green is also crocheted from Sandie using diag. box stitch. I really like the look!

Thanks bunches Sandie. I need to try my hand at one of those scarfs.

Now that blogger is working better I'll add a bit to my note. Not sure what was going on last night when I tried and tried to post. I kept losing my blog post and the pictures. Anyway...the scarfs Sandie made are wonderful. The yarn is yummy.

Sorry you can't see the design in the multi-colored blue scarf I knitted, it has some neat texture which doesn't show up in the picture. Bummer.

Look how our team members have grown! Cool hun. And don't forget we have people who knit and or crochet who aren't team members helping us out with the cause here. Some are followers/readers some friends there off. AND...we have over 30 members who've joined in The Ravelry Group. Some of us are in both places which is also cool. Join us however you can, whatever method works for you is fine.

Be safe, be warm and Happy New Years to you all!

Doing a happy mailman dance!

Pictures need to be posted later (need to retrieve my camera from a family member...hoping that will be later today). I finished a scarf Christmas Day which is #21, and last evening did a happy dance when my mailman left 2 packages at my door from the other Sandie. 3 more scarfs...counting #22-23-and 24! Sandie as always, nice work; but I'm particularly interested in the dark loomy green one. What stitch did you use? I really like the texture and how well it shows up on that dark green. Thanks bunches Sandie.

I made a delivery to Jan yesterday earlier in the day, and she'll be passing those items onto Rae tonight, so with the above 4 scarfs am collecting up what will be our 4th delivery!!!!

Thanks Ghost for posting the link and explaning the M1 to me. Believe thats the first time I've seen that in a pattern. I'll be checking out the how to. Appreciate the help. Links for both knitting and crocheting mitten patterns in 2 previous posts if anyone wants to snag them.

Thank you all for your wonderful support for this cause. Keep up the good work.

Happy Holiday Updates!

Anyone have the ability to make mittens or gloves

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with family, friends, and loved ones. If you traveled I hope your travels kept you safe and warm and without complications. Now...vacations over gang, so lets get back to work. lol I plan to drop off another (our 3rd) delivery to Jan today so stay tuned. We'll let you know when they make it to our group under the bridge. I'm hoping they're keeping dry, as the last couple of days here have been very wet.

Putting out a call for mittens and gloves...I'm anxious to try the pattern Bunny suggested, and also looking forward to the ones she has in the works. Here's the links Bunny posted for us in the previous blog note. Crocheted mittens and here's knitted mittens

My thanks to all who've joined "officially" or otherwise, those that have added our link to their blogs, blogged about our cause as well as those that have hooks and needles flying to help with their loving stitches.

You are ALL AWESOME!

***pssssssssss the knitted pattern is exciting to me because you don't need DP's to do it. Though I did just buy a set to see if I can work on DP's, I'm not ready to make that leap. However, I note a stitch called M1..backward e loop? Hum, no clue what that is, guess I need to look for a tutorial.

People Are AWESOME

I can't believe how awesome people are. This is the first time I've truly followed a project like this. For anyone who thinks the world is a bad place, they should know the kindness that people (like the ones on this blog) share out of simple love and hope for a better future.

The hats, scarves, and mittens are truly beautiful.

scarves
crocheted hats

People are AWESOME. Thank you so much, your generous donations of handmade hats, and scarfs that serve several purposes. They keep homeless people living out in the elements in cold, Central Ohio warm...AND, they help us all rekindle our belief in the human spirit. Strong, enduring, loving.........what a wonderful thing.

The 2 crochet hats (grey and Scarlet and Grey for the second one) crocheted and donated by Judy in Eaton Ohio. Hugs a bunch Judy. Thanks so much Judy, they are so nice, and sooooooooo Buckeye!

6 matching hats and scarfs from Dorothy in San Antonio, Texas. The multi-mix crocheted, the 2 blues knitted, the red and white knitted, and the burgundy blend knitted. FABULOUS. I've rolled the scarfs and tucked them into the hats. But, am also showing pics of the hats with the matching scarfs so you can see Dorothy's beautiful work.hat and scarf set

IN ADDITION...Dorothy in San Antonio sent 3 single scarfs, one is sorta of hoody (which I like cause I have a hard to fit head size), one a soft blue, and one a beautiful red plaid.

THANK YOU LADIES, I called my sister-in-law, Jan and gave her the good news that we have more for her friend Rae. We'll soon be making another delivery.

I'm still working on the 2 tone blue knitted scarf (not as much time at work in between things as I had hoped to get it done).

Look at those counters! We will continue this project beyond the 100 goal I've set, we'll get the Bridge People taken care of first, then look to some other similar homeless in need.

Please keep stitching.

Second delivery in the works!

If you've not checked out pictures of items donated thus far, PLEASE scroll back. I want you to see the beautiful hats and scarfs. AND check out the counters....we're making wonderful progress towards our goal.

2nd delivery is now in the works. Just back from delivering 8 hats and scarfs to Jan, my sister-in-law who will see Rae tomorrow. Isn't this wonderful. More people will be kept warm, more people will know they are not alone and more people will know they indeed cared for.

Thank you all, keep up the good work. Taking the scarf I'm working on to work with me...

Cold, and icy here today so gotta keep those hooks and needles flying.

Tootles for now, please check back often for updates.

Eight more hats from Dorothy from Wisconsin. Dorothy saw my post over in Bev's Challenge and responded. Thank you Dorothy! Your box of goodies arrived today on my way to work. I could hardly wait to open, photograph and post.

What a wonderful thing to have you join us.

Dorothy's hats are crocheted. I took one photo of the green one so you could see hats close up. A good variety in colors.

Be sure and check the post previous to this to see the scarves that came today from Dorothy, Bunny, and Frosty. Thanks to all.

Look at our counters! I'll get these to my sister-in-law tomorrow who will see Rae on Thursday night. Dang, I'm working again. Would be nice to deliver these in person...one of these times it will work out.

Keep stitching folks. Each hat, and scarf DO make a difference.

Dorothy ...not from Blogger Team, Thank you for the 4 beautiful scarfs

2 black scarfs (one with flecks), one pretty bright yellow scarf, and one green scarf. These 4 scarfs are crocheted. I love the stitch and need to find out what stitch Dorothy from Wisconsin used.

FROSTY....what yarn did you use in this super warm, thick and soft reddish scarf? It's knitted I know, but ohhhhhhhhh the yarn. Frosty's from the Ravelry Team.
And, Bunny with the warm green, pretty blue, and multi blueish scarfs! You are all soooooooooooo awesome. Hugs all around. Beautiful work, nice yarn, and most importantly...what beautiful hearts you all are. YOU, make me proud. Proud in knowing that people do care.
HUGS!! And now the scarf counter has jumped from 1 to 9. How awesome is that!!!
Since I last posted, 8 more people can be warmed with these scarfs!!!!!!!

First hats are headed to those under the bridge (actually they went Saturday). They are beautiful and warm. In addition to that, they are beautiful. These folks don't usually get NEW things. What a joy for them!

Promises and things in the mail

I'm very excited. I've heard from several people who've started a hat or scarf, others that things are being mailed. I will keep you all posted about progress on all fronts.

Cold and icy today here in Central Ohio. I started a scarf on my break at work. Didn't get much done, super busy day; so very soon am heading to the living room to work on it. My goal is to complete it by tomorrow night? Making it lengthwise, shades of blue. Trying to use up some left over yarn I have here at finger tips.

Thanks to all who've joined this group. I also have a group on Ravelry and had 20 members in that group today just before I headed to work. Some of you, like me....are here and there.

Sing out when I should be on the look out for my mailman.

It's a beginning

HELP NEEDED, Hats and Scarfs, PLEASE

I've added 2 ticker/counters here on our blog...one for HATS and one for SCARFS. I've set a goal of 100 for each and will keep track so we know where we are against the goal.

I've fixed the settings and those who attempted to join yesterday have now been able to join. YIPPEE. Anyone may help, email to join the group so I can add your email which lets you join as an author, which means you're listed as a team member. If you'ld like to help without being an "official" team member you may do that by posting a comment. Email me at sandycrochet@gmail.com for my address to mail HATS, SCARFS, GLOVES.

Sooooooo many ways to help:
Post a link to the group in your blog to help spread the word
Blog about the effort
Add link in mass emails to your knitting and crochet friends
And the obvious way is with your knitting needles and or crochet hooks.

When donations are mailed to me, I'll photograph and add so we can see all the wonderful items made by caring kind people.

***would like to add a weather, temperature thing, who knows how to do that?

Need team members, help me warm the homeless in need! PLEASE

Temperatures drop around the country, Homelessness rising, and it's official...the country's in a recession. Help me reach out to the cold, hungry, homeless in Ohio's Capital City, Columbus. Rae (a friend of sister-in-laws from church), and 2 friends visit and feed a group of homeless folks under a bridge weekly. These folks are in need of warm items. The group, all adult--mostly men need hats, scarfs, gloves, and perhaps vests and sweaters. Put your knitting needles and crochet hooks to the cause. Help me help Rae warm these folks, it could be the difference between life and death during these cold winter months in Ohio.

There are some women living here also, but mostly men; and to date we're thankful there are no children.

NEED: Hats, scarfs, gloves..in adult sizes and colors mostly appropiate for men.

This blog will be dedicated to this cause. I will keep tallies here, show pictures of items donated here.

Please join the cause, please join the team.

Items can be sent to me. Contact me at sandycrochet@gmail.com for an address. Once I figure out how to make the blog a team/private thing, I'll add my address.

If you have the ability, vests and or sweaters would also be welcomed.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
