First Donated Afghan for 2019 is Crocheted

YIPPEE!  Our good friend Karen S get's the applause for the first afghan to be donated in the year 2019.  It  looks sorta blue here in the picture, but really is more gray...blue-is gray.  It's nice and warm and crocheted beautifully.  The size and the color is suitable for anyone.......male or female.  Whomever get's this afghan will be thrilled and know someone cares.  Showing someone they are cared for, and not forgotten is so important.  That's why we focus so much on hand made.  Take your time, and your talent to knit or crochet something for someone you don't know shows them the caring, shows them the love.

Many thanks Karen, and please keep up the good work.  YOU do make a difference!!

I've got two afghans in the works right now myself.  What are you all working on?

Knitted Cotton Wash Cloths Make a Wonderful Donation

Awesome knitted cotton wash cloths!  Look at this nice variety in style, color and size that Melinda G has knitted.  I LOVE the blue and white that looks checkered.  I'm also a big fan of the half and half cloths.  Cotton washcloths are used several different ways and are always appreciated.  We donate them to the shelter as well as those living in the elements.  Cotton washcloths are wonderful for the skin, so the folks living in the elements really appreciate them.  You skin can be quite sensitive when you're in the cold and the wet and other elements of living outdoors the bulk of the time.  They also get put in welcome home packs that folks get when they leave shelter living for a permanent housing situation.  Men, women, and children all enjoy them.

Thank you for your thoughtful donation, Melinda and please keep up the good work.  You make an important difference to folks in need.

Knitting in Sunny Florida to Warm Ohio's Cold Homeless

Thank you Laurabelle for this thoughtful donation.  Laurabelle is our newest pair of helping hands and hails from the sunny state of Florida!  PLEASE send sunshine!

Laurabelle has knitted a variety of styles of hats in a variety of colors.  Something to please everyone.  The hats vary in size as well.  The red and gray scarf with fringe, looks very Buckeye-ish!  Also please notice 2 of the hats match the scarves...sets are so nice.  You can see it better if you click to enlarge the picture.

Folks I long ago disabled the silly, and very annoying captcha thing (where you click on pictures and or plug in numbers you can't see well), on this blog.  It's my understanding that even though I have personally disabled it, and have chosen not to have the security feature on the blog...it's causing some of you troubles.  Would you all please post in your comments whether or not you've been required by blogger to do one of those very annoying captcha picture or number things.  Additionally, I know many of you visit and read; but don't leave messages/comments....I'm asking that you PLEASE leave a comment and let me know you're here.  Visiting, reading, and commenting helps the blogs placement in SEO (search engine optimization), which in turn helps people find us, which in turns get's more helping hand........which translates into more donations to warm cold homeless people in need. So, please, even if you're shy...........leave a comment.

Thank you, and please stay warm...wherever you are.  Keep those hooks and needles busy.

Crocheting in Illinois Aids Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Kathy S for this awesome donation.  Kathy is our newest pair of helping hands, and we're thrilled to have you join us in warming Ohio's Homeless in need.  As you can see, Kathy has quite a selection of colors in her scarves.  I think my favorite might be the oceany blue that's unfolded...or maybe the 2nd to left purplish blue where the scarf changes hues.  Be sure to click on the picture to enlarge so you can see the colors I'm talking about.  She also has included 2 loomed hats.

You can tell Kathy's been busy with crocheting 15 scaves!

Have you noticed the count down til Spring in the right side bar here on the blog....I'm trying hard to will it to get here sooner.  As I type this post it's only 7 outside.  I hope this latest winter storm hasn't been too bad for you all.  I know many got a lot of snow, ice, and wind.  Am hoping you're staying warm, and safe.

Loomed Hats Warm Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Karen S for this thoughtful donation.  Karen has loomed (knitted) 5 awesome hats in great colors to warm 5 heads.  As I type this scheduled post it is 7 degrees out.  7 degrees folks, that's 25 degrees BELOW freezing.  It's 72% humidity out, all that dampness makes it even colder.  The only good thing is, with time I type a post........we're one day closer to spring.  Which in my opinion can't  come soon enough.  I truly detest winter, the snow, the ice, the cold.  With each year I age, I find my patience with winter becomes even less.

Karen always tags her hats with such cute size tags.  I encourage everyone to remember to tag your hats with size.  When they aren't tagged with size, I have to guess what size head they'll fit as do the the volunteers at the shelters in order to get it to the right area.  Tagging helps a lot.  Tags don't have to be artistic, or cleaver; but these cute little round circles do add to the gift.  And that's what our donations are, they are gifts.

These colors Karen has chosen are wonderful.  These are colors that work well for men or women

Thank you Karen and please keep up the good work, and know YOU make a difference in warming up a cold homeless person.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
