Wanted to share this poem with you all. My SIL wrote this for me some time back and I really like it and thought I'd post so you all could enjoy. It so fits our cause.

Give me a hook

And as least one skein

Don’t need a book

To begin the chain.

It might start from here

It might start from there

Our yarn makes warmth

With hats to wear.

Our yarn spreads love

To nameless faces

Our yarn is a gift

That goes many place.

We judge no one

By the lives they lead

Our yarn makes us humble

Humble indeed.

Sandie's scarf is such a neat wave of color. It's soft, and will be warm; as she's used sc I believe. Shoot thought you might be able to see the label from the yarn, it's called Tweedle Dee. lol Shaded effect yarn by Moda Dea. If you've used Moda Dea before you know how soft it is, but you might not be familiar with this Tweedle Dee. I wasn't.

Scarves of Many Colors

When I laid these 10 crocheted scarves out to get a picture I thought of The Coat of Many Colors, so this posts is The Scarves of Many Colors. Two in each navy, pink, tan, and lavendar and 1 lighter blue and orange scarf. Thank you Karen V for your thoughtful donation. These scarves will be so appreciated.

I wanted to share with you something else I'm excited about. Karen tells me in her note that this donation is a result of others coming together. I've often posted about the many ways to help and this is a perfect example of just that. She is a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Internation, Kappa Nu Chapter. The members in her chapter were looking for a service project and she told them about our cause. They donated money and or yarn so that Karen could crochet more scarves for our cause. Karen might be the only one in the group who crochets, but they too have help--giving her more ability to help us.

Starting out the New Year Right!

I've gotten several email's of late from folks who've found our blog and wish to contribute. They don't have blogs themselves; so aren't listed in our blog log of members. What excites me about this is the fact our cause is spreading even outside the blog world. Both Alma and Trudy have indicating they'll be mailing items. I've added these ladies to our members without blogs area.

Some pretty buttercups from my yard for you all on this cold snowy day
The year is coming to an end, it's cold, snowy, gray, damp and cold and in about 12 hours we'll toast The New Year, 2010.

I wanted to pass along a little note from Rae to you all. Rae said the 2 clinics have been thrilled with our donations...and, well here let me pass along that part of her note directly to you.***

We had a Christmas party at each clinic, and I believe the phrase heard the most when people were told that they could choose hats & scarves & mittens for them and their kids/spouses at home was "really, for me?" They were astounded when they found out that total strangers from around the country had hand-made these items just for them. I believe it went a long way in making them feel somehow special, if only for a moment. But I can assure you, they will remember that moment for a while, each time they go out into the cold (or don't get to come in out of the cold) and they have a scarf or a hat or some mittens that one of you has made. I can't tell you how totally awesome I think you all are ... reaching out to people you don't even know. It's truly very sweet!

I'm sure for some those hats, mittens, or scarves were all they got this Christmas and what you do DOES make a difference, one hat, one scarf, one person, and one stitch at a time.

Please keep up the good work with your needles and hooks, TOGETHER WE CAN and DO MAKE a DIFFERENCE

Chris D, sent these lovely scarves a few days ago. One is felt (sewn), the others are crocheted. Love the texture in the crocheted scarves, believe she accomplished it by back stitch only dc?
