Rose Garden Afghan for Faith Mission in the Works

Rose Garden AfghanForest Green, Lime Green, Kelly Green, Olive Green, Celery Green, Hot Pink, Light Pink, Dusty Rose, Mauve Pink, and maybe a coral shade of pink make up this ghan in the works for our folks at Faith Mission. Squares ranging in size 5-6-7-8 and 12 inches, rectangles, granny squares, sampler style squares, crocheted squares, and knitted squares are all here. Quite a mix in this one folks.

A good number of these squares are from long ago from folks who's names I don't have, never had. You might remember I've referred to a couple of groups that disbanded and passed along squares and their odds and ends to me, before. Over time, they've been added here and there to various charity projects. Here they're mixed with rectangles from RoseMarie, some pink squares from Karen V and Joy.

The pink and green ghan was design here and has been waiting in the wings. I try to name many of the ghans, and believe with all the pink and green this can appropriately be named, Rose Garden. All the greens represent leaves and stems, and the shades of pink the roses.

Though it's hard to see in the picture the squares are being edged with dark forest green, not black as it looks in the picture. I'm joining in dusty rose. Normally I edge and join with the same color, but thought given the amount of each color I had left in my stash after DD finished Vacation ghan, I'd try this method. Thus far, I think it's working. I'm using the join as you go method on this ghan, though it's not continuous given the huge difference is sizing; this is much more piece meal then it was with Colorful Blocks Ghan.

Hoping Rose Garden will be finished in a few days as works continues on this
Reddish Brownish Ghan...that needs a name. Anyone with ideas?

**Reminder folks not to tie a knot and cut yarn when knitting or crocheting. Always leave a tail of several inches when joining new join, and work it into your work. This ensures your item won't come apart. I've had to make several repairs where items have been knotted, cut and are coming apart before I can pass along your thoughtful donations. Thank you**

Pink Afghan for Homeless

pink stash
You may remember this pile of pink squares.
They no longer are a pile of pink squares. Karen V donated 23 squares of various sizes and colors of pink.

I snatched 16 of them, edged them in 2 rows of single crochet with white yarn and began assembling them. Each strip of 4 where then edged again with single crochet using dusty rose; and joined again. Then once again the whole ghan was edge with 2 rows of single crochet and dusty rose. I had the dusty rose in my stash and thought it blended nicely with the various pinks from Karen V's donation.

These squares/ now are a 40 x 40 inch lapghan and have been delivered to Faith Mission. I'm sure it will keep someone warmer while watching TV, as well as decorate a chair. It also a perfect size for a little girl. The photo was taken before it was laundered and blocked; but since this is a scheduled post....by the time you read his, it's already in use.

Feeling Pink?

pin crocheted granny squaresAre you feeling pink today? lol If not, perhaps this will help. There are 23 squares, couple of different sizes all crocheted by our friend Karen V. Some square are granny squares (worked in the round center out), while some are sampler squares (worked side to side). Some are pale pink, some dusty rose pink, some coral pink, and some are hot pink (pepto pink). I've measured and separated and currently have 16 squares in the 7 inch inch in a bag with some white yarn. Still in the thinking stages......and waiting to hear about ages, and numbers of kids at The Mission before making a final determination. But, currently thinking pink and off white lap size ghan/child size ghan.

These squares are well ahead of my 2 month collection period of November and December for Give a Square, sooooo I might change my mind. I like to stare and think a bit before putting squares together to make something. lol...they do talk to me, sorta.

Many thanks Karen V. for your ongoing support. It is appreciate on so many levels, and in more ways then I can possible say. Hugs!

Keep those scarves and hats coming....and PLEASE Mittens. We're almost at the end of the month of September. I want to deem October Mitten Month, with emphasis on Men. That doesn't mean we don't need or want the other items those months, but if you're wondering what to make....think Mittens.

crocheted scarves
Warm beautiful crocheted scarves! Karen V made the tan one with the design, the beautiful dark green, and the pretty pastel scarf. The multi-colored scarf top left and dark blue varigated scarf were made by someone in her sorority. A while back Karen and her group made a decision to help our cause and even those in her group who don't knit or crochet have purchased yarn to give those who who do knit and crochet. I love how things become a team effort. Together, I believe we can accomplish many things.

Many hands make the work lighter, and more enjoyable.

Thank you so much for your on going support, it's appreciated.

Scarves of Many Colors

When I laid these 10 crocheted scarves out to get a picture I thought of The Coat of Many Colors, so this posts is The Scarves of Many Colors. Two in each navy, pink, tan, and lavendar and 1 lighter blue and orange scarf. Thank you Karen V for your thoughtful donation. These scarves will be so appreciated.

I wanted to share with you something else I'm excited about. Karen tells me in her note that this donation is a result of others coming together. I've often posted about the many ways to help and this is a perfect example of just that. She is a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Internation, Kappa Nu Chapter. The members in her chapter were looking for a service project and she told them about our cause. They donated money and or yarn so that Karen could crochet more scarves for our cause. Karen might be the only one in the group who crochets, but they too have help--giving her more ability to help us.

Thank you Karen

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
