Personal Care Gift Packages Help Homeless.

Thank you Tara B for this thoughtful donation.  Sorry the picture doesn't show up real well.  We were without electricity when I was processing a group of donations.  As you can see, there was some light coming in from the window, but it's not the best.  Please click to enlarge the photo, so you can see details.  In the lower left corner you'll see a soap box with soap in it, a couple of hygiene wipes (the pink packet), and 2 crocheted cotton washcloths...(hard to see as they're tan about the same color as my carpet).  This was all packaged together in a zip lock bag.  Notice all the packages on the fall right, and to the left of the scarf....I opened one package so you could see the contents and I could get a proper count.  What a cleaver way to package these needed personal items, Tara B!

Tara has also included toothbrushes, towards the top left in the picture and 2 crocheted scarves and hats.

This lovely donation will help many people in need.  The packages of personal care items really are like a gift package...very nice indeed.  AND with this donation, look where we are for our goal for cotton washcloths!  Seriously, one away.

***If you didn't read yesterday post, PLEASE DO!  Just scroll back for an important announcement was made yesterday.***

Socks Rock!

Thank you Tara B for your ongoing delivery of socks!  Tara has set up a recurring order through Amazon to have socks delivered here  at Bridge and Beyond.  I've said it before, but will say it again.  I think she's brilliant.  She says herself time, and postage.

Socks are needed all year long, even in warm weather.  While we've been having warmer weather, we're currently in another cold snap, as well as wet snap.  We're over our goal which is very exciting, as we're not quite to the half way point in the year...but that doesn't lessen the need for warm dry socks.  When you're living out in the elements being able to change into dry warm socks is a wonderful thing.  AND even those folks sleeping at night in the shelters, still are outside during the day.  Most shelters require people to leave during the day, so the chances they may get caught in the rain is substantial.

Many thanks Tara for your on going support.  Please keep up the good work and know how much you and your donations are appreciated.

Socks Rock, Just Ask Any Homeless Person

Thank you Tara B for your continued monthly shipments of socks!  If you've not read this before folks, I want to tell you how smart Tara is.  To save herself shopping time and shipping, she set up deliveries from Amazon to Bridge and Beyond.  Without going back through my posts, I don't remember when she started doing this; but she's been doing it awhile.  Pretty cool, and like I said, pretty smart to my way of thinking.

Socks are needed all year long...yes even in the warmer months because no one likes cold wet feet.  Nor are cold wet feet healthy for anyone.

And remember in the last post I told you we have reached and exceeded our goal for socks for the year.........how awesome is that!  So this wonderful donation for Ohio's Homeless through Bridge and Beyond just adds to that.

Clapping for all who've helped reach and exceed this goal!!!  Well done and keep up the good work.

Together we get things done and make a difference.  Thank you!

Donated Socks Warm Cold Feet of the Homeless

Thank you Tara B for starting off our year with this great sock donation.  When you live out in the elements, or get nights at a shelter; having clean dry socks is HUGE!!  We've all had cold wet feet and it's miserable.  Especially when getting relief from that situation is so difficult.

Tara B has set up a recurring order of socks from Amazon.  When she first told me about this, I thought........BRILLANT!!  She doesn't have to take the time to shop, or package things up and pay shipping.  Amazon delivers directly to me.

We donated 107 pairs of socks in 2020, but had a couple of very lean years so our average for the last 4 years is only 79.  Though I have listed that as our goal, I feel confidant we can meet and exceed that.  So, thank you Tara for getting us started with these 6 pairs and 73 to go.

Donating Socks for Homeless, Important

Thank you Tara B for your monthly shipment of socks!  I've said before how smart I think she is for setting this up.  She saves herself the time to shop, and the cost of shipment.  She set up an ongoing order through Amazon and they ship directly to me at and no shipping cost to her.  Brilliant!!

Temps here have indeed turned the corner so having warm clean dry socks for folks living in the elements and or shelters is truly important.  Warm dry feet can be a huge factor is whether someone remains healthy or get's sick.

Many thanks Tara, and please know how much good you're doing.  AND how much it's appreciated.

Please stay safe everyone, these are difficult times.

Crocheting Warms Homeless

Thank you Tara B for your on going special delivery of socks!  Tara set up a monthly delivery of socks from Amazon.  That way she doesn't need to shop, or pay postage on the socks.  They come right from Amazon to us here at Bridge and Beyond.  I think she's brilliant for thinking of that.  It's truly cold, wet and ugly here now in central Ohio, making the need for socks truly important.  Cold wet feet are a real problem.  Being able to change into warm dry socks is a beautiful thing.

Additionally, Tara's been busy with yarn and hook.  She's crocheted and donated hats, a scarf, and a round afghan.  The round afghan is sized for a small child or perhaps a lap throw.  I think given that it matches one of the small hats a child is the match.

Many thanks Tara for your support of Bridge and Beyond, please keep up the good work.  Stay safe.  As the weather turns around the country, I fear the Covid situation is going to worsen.  If we all stay busy indoors with our yarn, hooks, and needles, we can stay safe.

Crocheting Warmth and Love for Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Tara B for this cheery bright colored Afghan.  It's certainly appropriate to welcome in the autumn season.  It's hard to believe summer has past, but as I type my fingers are cold and so I am reminded that it is September and the last 3 days it's only been in the forty's in the morning.  So warmth is indeed needed for our homeless friends.  Tara's afghan is crocheted and sized large enough for a family to enjoy it.

She's also been busy crocheting hats and scarves.   As you can see, there are several matching sets.  Please click to see details and notice the bagged personal care kits.  She's included 2 cotton washcloths, toothpaste and wipes in each baggy.  What a nice way to gift wrap it.  She's tied the two cloths together also, which is such a nice touch.

Some time back Tara had the brilliant idea to set up a sock order on Amazon.  I thought this was such a smart idea.  She doesn't have to take time to go shopping or repackage them to send here.  She set it up on Amazon and they mail directly to me.  The idea of the year, IMHO.

Many thanks Tara and please keep up the good work.  You truly are making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate than us.

Mother and Daughter Team Up to Help Homeless

Thank you Tara B for this donation of 12 pairsof socks!  Let me back up a bit.  A while back Tara had a brilliant idea.  Instead of shopping buying socks to add to her crocheted donations; she would set up a repeat order on Amazon and the socks would be shipped to me.......she pays no shipping costs that way as well.  I thought it was a wonderful idea.

So the first shipment came, I took a picture and somehow when it was being transferred from my phone to the computer it vanished.  (please scroll to previous post with more info on this.  It's happened twice recently, and I don't know why.

Then her 2nd shipment came so I photographed them both together.  Still had the 1st package having not yet put in the bags for delivery.

Tara tells her mother Lara about Bridge and Beyond, and Lara who taught Tara to crochet decided she would join in.  She crocheted this traditional ripple, always a favorite.  This is sc back stitch, which is how you get the awesome texture.  I LOVE this, it reminds me of my Mother, because she taught me to crochet back in the day how to knit and crochet.  A nice memory.  AND I love the primary colors she used, so bright and cherry.

She also crocheted hats, and headbands.  And she included socks and some personal care items with the her donation.

Lara M. is our newest pair of helping hands.  Thrilled to have you join us and please know that you are making an important difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

Many thanks, and please keep up the good work.

Gifts Packs Make Wonderful Donations for Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Tara B for this thoughtful donation.  Wow......what a nice pile of personal care items.  Soap, lotion, shampoo, toothbrushes and more.  These are needed all year long.  AND LOVE this nice think warm scarf.  It's such a nice size and can be really wrapped around someone to keep them warm.  While today, as I write this post, the weather is nice here in Central Ohio...hubby and I closed up all the windows in the house yesterday and the day before and turned on the heat again!  Seriously, yesterday morning it was only 42 out.  That's not comfortable weather if you're living in the elements, so this nice warm scarf is indeed still needed.

Also......please click the picture to enlarge it.  I want to point out the gift packages Tara made.  There are nicely crocheted cotton wash cloths that she's folded and paired with a large cake of soap, then tied with nice twine and placed in a zip lock bag.  It's such a simple touch, but really looks so nice.  So much like we're presenting them with a gift.  I really love this idea.  Well done Tara!  Glad you thought of that.

Please keep up the good work and stay well, during these Covid times.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
