Donations from James
Thank you James! Always so good to hear from you. James has knitted and donated lots of variety here: Sweater, hats, scarf, mittens, cotton washcloths, and socks. Fabulous as always James, please keep up the good. Special thanks for nicely tagging your items with the size...much appreciated.
**Remember folks to avoid the use of white, off-white and ivory/beige. They're just too hard to keep clean, be they hats, mitts, scarves, squares etc.**

Knitting and Stitching for the Cause
Thank you James. James has been a long time supporter of our cause here on Bridge and Beyond. Look at the fun cowls he's knit. Cute designs, think the kids will get a kick out of those. Nice heavy doubly warm scarf, and a very nice quilt. The quilt will go to our project Welcome Home and be suitable for an adult female lapsize plus, or a young gal full size afghan. Awesome work James, and many thanks! Keep up the good work.

Donations from The Golden Gate Bridge State
Wave hello to our good friend James folks. He knits so beautifully and has been such a long time supporter of us here at Bridge and Beyond. Thank you James for your thoughtful donation, and for your on going support.......all the way from California, The Golden Gate Bridge State. We sure appreciate it.
James knitted 4 hats, a cute pair of slippers, 4 pairs of mittens and a darling little mitered square afghan. The afghan will be so appreciated by some little boy. Hey Jim, I loved how a couple of cotton washcloths came out using the mitered square method. How did you figure out how many to cast on? Did you wing it, or have a pattern?

James Donated all This Jazz!
Thank you James for all this jazz. James has been a long time supporter and I always look forward to the jazz that comes off his knitting needles. Above we have quite a variety pack of donated lovelies, hats, mittens, socks, washcloth, neckwarmer, Baclava...and a darling sweater and shirt for a little one.

As you think about making mittens and or reviewing patterns...think about adding length to the cuff; helps make them warmer. Thanks!

Potpourri Donation for the Homeless
Thank you James for your ongoing support and warming the homeless here in Central Ohio with your fabulous donation. What a potpourri it is. 3 pairs of mittens, 3 cotton wash cloths, 1 pair of nice warm socks, 4 pairs of adorable slippers, 4 hats, and 2 scarves. You and your knitting needles have indeed been busy since your move. WOW! Everything is wonderful, but I'm particularly fond of the cute pair of slippers right in the middle of the picture...red-blue etc. Click folks to enlarge the picture so you can see what I'm referring to. Additionally, let you eyes travel up and down and see the pictures where I flipped over a slipper so you could see the bottom. James has added something that's non skid. Really need to know what that is, how you apply it, where you find it etc. etc. In other words James, we need all the details! Please share.
I'd also love to know what pattern you used for those slippers in the middle...the shape is especially nice. Can you pass along your pattern, and or link to the one you used?

More loving warmth for the cold Homeless
Mittens, and squares, and socks oh my! 2 pair of nicely knit and very warm mittens, 2 mitered squares also knitted, and a fabulous really heavy pair of socks. James, long time supporter has done it again. Many thanks James for your ongoing support. I know you've been swamped with moving and all, so finding time to make and send these items is truly special. Many many thanks. Hope you're settled in nicely in your new digs and things calm down a bit for you with the holidays coming on.

More Mittens for the challenge, Yippee!
AWESOME...we have another pair of mittens for our Mitten Challenge, our Mitten Throw Down, our Mitten Month. Thank you James. James, a long time supported knits beautifully. These are wonderful, warm, and soft......and big enough for our men living outdoors so in need. Many thanks James for your ongoing thoughtful support. James is in the process of moving and hopes to get more mittens to us, though they won't be for the challenge as he's busy moving. So, we can look forward to more wonderful knitted goodies from him. Hope the move is going well James.

Knitted goodies from James
James knitted goodies are always sooooooo nice. Two man sized soft hats, 1 warm scarf, a fun neck gator. All knitted. James sent along 4 nice heavy duty warm socks that the men are gonna love for sure.

For the Kids
Thank you James, what a wonderful donation this is. I always admire your knitting skills. The sweater and hat set are going to make someone really really happy. I love the two sided hat. Did you knit that in the round, changing color half way through and decrease both ends? I'm trying to visualize the method.
And the blue and green hat with the design....oh if someday I could knit that like that! These are going to the clinic for the kids, thank you for your ongoing support and thoughtful donation.

Thank you James
A pair of Mittens, a scarf, 6 hats, and 3 pair of nice heavy socks! Yippee. James knits and all these are nice and large. Sometimes when it's cold these folks under the bridge double up on hats and I think with the size and stretch James hats will be dandy for that.
Special thanks too James for sending along the socks. Something that's always needed.

Happily reporting more goodies!
Another great scarf from Sandie with a pair of teal mittens. This will be a little mini team effort. Sandie sent enough yarn for me to finish the thumbs which I will do hopefully tonight. Mitten #26 and Scarf #63
Thank you Margie the ladybug....hats #141-142-143-144-145. I like how the ridges show up so nicely in the multi-colored blue hat. These hats will be well received. Though we had a few days of warmer weather and got the bulk of the snow melted, the past fiew days have gotten cold, and extremely windy.
James sent some wonderful knitted items. 2 warm scarfs and 3 pairs of mittens! Yippee more mittens. Scarfs # 64-65, Mittens #27-28-29
I got 12 pairs of socks while out shopping yesterday and will get all these goodies over to SIL tomorrow so she get to Rae for another delivery. I've bundle the socks to get a pair together.

I might need a Calculator!!!!
First picture is hats and scarfs from Molly. I was having some light issue when I photographed. There are 9 hats that are dark gray and burgundy in the back, 2 red-white-and blue hats, a solid red, and the white and red. A scarf matches the white and red and one of the red-white-blue hats. 13 hats (34-35-36-37-38-39-40-41-42-43-44-45-45) AND Scarfs 25 & 26
James sent a scarf, 2 hats with 2 neck gaitors. I'm including a close up of one of the hats and gaitors so you can see. So scarf #27 AND hats #46 & 47
This is the 2nd beautiful bright blue scarf Sandie sent (previous post shows other scarf). This is nice and soft, good and solid I know it will keep someone warm. Thanks for your continued support. This is scarf #28
2 Hats crocheted, 6 scarfs crocheted by Scarlet. I've grouped them male and female. First picture Green, Pink, and Purlish (which is like a mobius scarf) for female and 2nd group of 3 for the men (orange, green, and multi). Thanks bunches Scarlet. Pop in and see how lovely all her work is. Scarf #29-30-31-32-33-34 AND hats 48 & 49
I received some misc items, 2 neck collars from Scarlet, a shawl, 2 child scarfs from Molly. Thankfully at this time children are not there under the bridge living out in the elements. These items will be in reserve and or after I get with Rae next will determine if they might work for those at the clinic who are in need; but sometimes have a roof over their heads.
I've received a few notes with questions and while most of this is a repeat (some folks have joined us recently and didn't see the first couple of posts), so I'll add some info here. Our goal is to make warm items, sized appropiate for adult men as most of our homeless people living under the bridge are men such as Hats and Scarfs. We're striving for 100 each but will continue this effort once we hit the 100 mark. We need gloves and mittens as well; perhaps vests or warm sweaters. Fibers? Acrylics worsted weight and wool are both great. Solid stitches probably best for warmth, most folks consider the normal size scarf to be 5-8 inches wide and somewhere around 60 inches long.
