Knitting Afghans and More for Homeless

 Thank you Sandra R from Florida where so many endured so much recently from Hurricane Irma.  Sandra included.  Relieved to hear you're ok.  Such widespread tragedy and destruction.  Beautifully knitted cotton washcloths.  I love love the brown, the men folk will too.  The pattern in the green scarf is like ribbing and therefore nice and thick...sorta squishy, which will make it nice and warm~
Sandra excels in knitting these awesome Log Cabin Afghans.  She mixes colors so nicely that the afghans work well for men and women.  Beautifully made as always!  These style is really a personal favorite of mine, and what a great way to use up odds and ends.  If you've spent anytime looking at traditional quilts, you'll see this log cabin style frequently.  Lovely, please click to enlarge the picture so you can see this beauty

**We started the year with the number of items we had donated last year, 2016; and will subtract our donations from that.  Using the end number for 2016 as the goal for the each item.  So, as the year continues you will see numbers decrease.  Our goal is to meet and surpass the number of items donated last year.**

All donations regardless of size and number are valued. All donations are appreciated. The Power of One is awesome, and when we work together The Power of One becomes The Power of Many.

More Socks! Yippee!!!!

7 more pairs of socks to warm feet for those men living under the bridge. Hugs a bunch Dear Scarlet. I'm still trying to catch up here with pictures and counting etc. Things do seem (toes and fingers still crossed) to be calming down in The ICU.

I've got a bag here of goodies to pass along to my SIL today so she can get needed items to Rae for our homeless folks.

And what a neat surprise from Scarlet. I had completely forgotten I even responded to her fun contest regarding the cute face and what to do with her head. She bestoyed 2 great skeins of yarn on me in the same package as the socks! I've tossed it in my hospital bag and already made a pair of booties with it, and am working on a hat to match. Thanks bunches Scarlet. I've used this yarn before and really love the blues...very nice!yarn

Hats!!! Stella is modeling one of the 9 hats Scarlet made. She choose the pretty pinkish red one...Stella's such a ham! Hats #106-107-108-109-110-111-112-113-114. Many thanks Scarlet for your continued support and lovely items to warm the cold homeless living under the bridge.

Gloria sent scarfs #45 & 46. I really like the blue mutli-colored one. I'm not familiar with the stitch you used Gloria...very interesting, what is it? That yarn was really soft too, what did you use? Thank you sooooooooo much. The support so many of you are showing truly touches my heart.

Scarlet sent 3 scarfs #47-48-49. I'll add these (if Stella will give them up!) to the ladies donation for the clinic. I'm particularly fond of the purple and orange one. I love the colors. Wanted to show the red, white, and blue neck warmer. Fits me... and felt pretty good around my neck right after getting in from the cold, that too will go to the ladies next donation. Can you see the interesting buttons?

The temperature when I woke up this am was -12. The warmest it got all day was 8 in the sun. I ask that you join in keeping these folks in your thoughts and prayers to make it through these conditions.

HATS, HATS, HATS !!! You really have to see these

People are awesome. AWESOME, I tell ya. Thank you Scarlet and Bunny. I got boxes again today!

SERIOUSLY...HATS #53-54-55-56-57-58-59-60-61-62-62 From Scarlet. THANK YOU! Look at the fun mix of colors. Nice too she made a variety of sizes to fit different sized heads! One has a bill, not sure you can tell from my photo...the far right purplish is that what they call a baseball type tobogan?

I've just bagged up the goodies folks for our 5th delivery of donated warmth. I think thats rather special and thank you all for your gifts from the heart.

SIL, Jan and I've been playing phone tag; though we plan to get together on Friday, so I can make another "drop".

I'm sooooooooo impressed and optomestic about the help we can and are providing I'm gonna raise our goals....how bout double gang. 200.

Trying to get current with pictures....

crocheted scarf A picture I missed yesterday, ruffle scarf by Scarlet. This is that nice soft homespun yarn.

crocheted poncho A grey shawl, perhaps the coming home pattern. I'll save that for another delivery, as it might be more suited to a wee warmer weather, or perhaps one of the needy ladies at the clinic. Another one of Scarlet's creations.
crocheted neck gators these are cute little neck collars, will hold these should we get children and or someone at need there at the clinic. Think I might need to get this pattern from Scarlet, can't you see this as a way to jazz up a boring blouse? That is if I ever get around to making anything for myself. lol

I might need a Calculator!!!!

First picture is hats and scarfs from Molly. I was having some light issue when I photographed. There are 9 hats that are dark gray and burgundy in the back, 2 red-white-and blue hats, a solid red, and the white and red. This is the 2nd beautiful bright blue scarf Sandie sent (previous post shows other scarf). This is nice and soft, good and solid I know it will keep someone warm. Thanks for your continued support. This is scarf #28

I received some misc items, 2 neck collars from Scarlet, a shawl, 2 child scarfs from Molly. Thankfully at this time children are not there under the bridge living out in the elements. These items will be in reserve and or after I get with Rae next will determine if they might work for those at the clinic who are in need; but sometimes have a roof over their heads.

I've received a few notes with questions and while most of this is a repeat (some folks have joined us recently and didn't see the first couple of posts), so I'll add some info here. Our goal is to make warm items, sized appropiate for adult men as most of our homeless people living under the bridge are men such as Hats and Scarfs. We're striving for 100 each but will continue this effort once we hit the 100 mark. We need gloves and mittens as well; perhaps vests or warm sweaters. Fibers? Acrylics worsted weight and wool are both great. Solid stitches probably best for warmth, most folks consider the normal size scarf to be 5-8 inches wide and somewhere around 60 inches long.
