Thank you Anne Marie.  Fingers crossed this is your donation.  Yes, folks am sorry to report am still working through the difficulties I created with notes and cleaning off my desk.  Some posts back I mentioned a donation as being that of Anne Marie, but she said...oophs not mine.  Thankfully that donation has now properly being credited to Phyllis G, so fingers crossed I've almost got it all sorted out and this is infact Anne Marie's donation?

Autumn Colored Afghan Welcomes Homeless

Love the colors in this crocheted shell stitch afghan.  This will make a child, boy or girl very happy and is also sized well for a nice lapghan for any adult.  This beautiful afghan comes to us from the skillful hands of our good friend, Annemarie from New York.  When we donate afghans to The Homeless Families Foundation they make a wonderful "Welcome Home" gift to those families transitioning from shelter living to their permanent residence.  It's a way to celebrate the move, to congratulate them on making it happen, and a way to wish them the best of luck for the future.

Thank you Annemarie for your continued support of this cause.  We truly appreciate you here on Bridge and Beyond, and I know the recipients do as well.

Taking Time to Help Those in Need, Priceless

Here's a wonderful donation from our good friend AnneMarie from New York.  AnneMarie hook's been busy making cotton washcloths, hats, and slippers.  Love the slippers Gail, what pattern did you use?  Love to add it to the slipper tab.  RoseMarie and I were just chatting the other day about a single crocheted vs double crocheted slipper as a means of making the slipper warmer and more sturdy.  Special thanks for tagging your hats and slippers with size!

AnneMarie also sent 2 dozen socks for both men and women, razors and forks.  Rae will be thrilled to have those items to help those she feeds that live outdoors!

Many thanks AnneMarie and please keep up the good work!

Busy hands are happy hands, and happy hands help people in need, thank you all for your on going support.  So many of you give so willing of your time and talents, I thank you all.

Licorice Afghan Donated to Homeless Families Foundation

Thank you Sherry K for this lovely afghan, whomever receives this at Homeless Families Foundation is going to be thrilled.  It's nicely sized, and very well made.  Here's team work for you folks, our friend from New York Ann Marie, sent squares to Sherry K (through the group they've become friends...pretty cool), and Sherry assembled the ghan.   Sherry named this afghan, Licorice...how perfect is that!! Then Sherry and I met again for coffee and a nice visit so she could pass the ghan along to me.  Gotta love team work!  And I passed along Pink Persuasion to be assembled to Sherry.   Sherry also loomed 2 hats.  Thank you Sherry for your hard work!

Crocheted Donations from New York

Look at this awesome black and gray afghan!  I love this design, haven't made this pattern in a long time and had forgotten how much I liked it.  I think it looks sorta houndstoothy...is that a word?  LOL.  Thank you to our good friend Annemarie in New York for this beautiful afghan.  Whomever ends up with this crocheted afghan in their Welcome Home Package is going to be thrilled.
AND she's crocheted and donated 6 awesome scarves (one is a keyhole style), plus a hat.  I LOVE this hat.  Click to enlarge so you can see the spirals.  Annemarie....what pattern did you use?

As always, your work is lovely, many thanks for your on going support.  Please keep up the good work.
  • Please remember folks to tag ALL hats with size, rather then my trying to guess and or the volunteers at the various shelters trying to guess.
  •  Please also remember to wash and block all afghans before mailing.  It removes hair, odors, oil and dust......and it makes the ghan so much more finished.  I always suggest not drying ghans in the dryer...though I know most yarn says it can be done.  They get fuzzy, and you can't blog them in the dryer.  Please lay them out in a pet free area, you almost always need to help shape it, thus the blocking.
  • Please remember we're not currently collecting squares

Donated Supplies help with Meal Preparation for Homeless

WOW!  AnneMarie has done it again with a generous donation.  A case of garbage bags, a case of grocery bags, a case of plastic containers and a case of rain poncho's.  Many many thanks AnneMarie for your on going support.  Rae was thrilled with these items to aid in the extended ministry.  Plastic containers help with meal prep, grocery bags give the homeless something to carry their meals in, and the garbage bags give them something to carry their meager belongings in.  Obviously the rain ponchos help to keep people dry who live out in the elements, as well as those waiting in lines at soup kitchens, those waiting outdoors til time to enter a shelter for the night etc.

Many many thanks AnneMarie.

Donations Keep People Warm

Guess who donated all these goodies.  Come on...guess.  Bet you're able to tell that it's our good friend and faithful supporter, AnneMarie from New York.  She got the idea last year about these hand and foot warmers....what a great great idea.  In the above donation are 2 dozen pair of socks which you know are always a hit, 10 of the hand and feet warmers that our men living outside in the elements will be thrilled to get, and 27 wonderful cotton washcloths.  I also add some of those to our bag of goods for our Bridge folks, and to distribute others to 3 family shelters.  They LOVE getting those cotton washcloths.  It's an item everyone needs all year long, summer-winter-spring or fall.

Thank you AnneMarie, as always keep up the good work.

Hats and Scarves Perfect for those in Need.

Our good friend and fabulous supporter, AnneMarie's done it again.  Look at this wonderful donation.  These hats and scarves are awesome.  They are super soft, nice and warm and extremely well made.  I really like the grey's in the variegated...very nice.  I've not seen that particular variegated yarn before.  I would think that variegated mix would work well for both men and women.  This set is geared female with the shells in the scarf; but I can also see this yarn in a solid knit stitch or straight double crochets looking masculine as well.

Folks, please remember to identify your donations with a note that includes your email so I can make contact when your donation arrives.

Donating Socks and Slippers

AnneMarie's done it again! She's such a generous person and she's given so much of herself here on Bridge and Beyond. Thank you once again AnneMarie for all you do. 8 crocheted slippers of various sizes and colors and 18 pairs of always needed and much appreciated socks!

Special kudos for labeling the slippers, love it. It's important folks to do that, label them with the size you made. When things are distributed at the various shelters, it's hard for them to look at something and know whom it will fit. Please always attach and label slippers, and mittens.

Sizing on hats also makes life easier for them, but perhaps a little less of an issue.

These 3 blankets are another donation from our very good friend in New York, care to quess her name. It's two names put together. It starts with the first letter in alphabet. Bet you've figured it out already. It's a fabulous supporter, AnneMarie. These 3 blankets will be part of our afghans donated to Homeless Families Foundation for Project Welcome Home.

Donating Afghans for Project Welcome Home

Please join me in once again saying thank you for your on going support, your thoughtfulness, and your skillful hands to our good friend AnneMarie from New York. This awesome ripple will be well received by someone as they transition from shelter living to their own place. The picture makes it look gray, but it's really more of a green. Not sure wade shade it would be called. This would work as a lapghan for an adult, male or female and or child to totally cover up in.
But, wait........There's more. I love the colors and texture in this 2nd afghan. Again, sized and suitable as above for adults, teens, or children. So nicely done. AnneMarie...your ROCK!
And no.........she didn't stop there! LOOK at this pretty Lilac/Lavender Afghan. To see it's message, please click to enlarge. This is larger then above afghans and will make a nice adult/teen afghan for a female and or a family afghan.

Anne Marie, please keep up the good work, we all truly appreciate you.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
