If you missed my previous post show casing her donations from The Empire State, you can read about here.

Many thanks for all you do AnneMarie, we're thrilled to call you our friend. Please keep up the good work.

Donations from The Empire State

Our good friend Annemarie has done it again! Her skill full hands have crocheted and donated 2 hats, 2 scarves, and 11 pairs of slippers. Annemarie, special thanks for matching and tagging your slipper pairs with the size. That is such a HUGE help not only to me; but to the shelters when they receive them. When I get items like mittens and slippers I can pair them, if they're not...but have to quess what size they are...not knowing what size someone's pattern was. Thanks for your thoughtful donation, your continued support. Please keep up the good work.

Annemarie, you may remember hails from The State of New York, The Empire State. Though there seems to be disagreement on how it got it's nickname; there is a belief it goes way back to George Washington. In the winter of 1784, George Washington was in the state and felt it was the "seat of the empire". Empire in those days meant that it was financially important. Given both The National and The Global importance of New York, seems he was right on the mark.

Hard to believe folks, but this is post #751, which means we're only 149 posts away from hitting 1,000!! I can't believe we'll be hitting the mark so soon and am thrilled about it. Hope you all are too. The higher the number of posts means we've had wonderful donations. Each donation gets it's own post. Often, I have 2 plus weeks of posts in que/scheduled ahead to post. Though not at the moment. This does tend to be the time of year when donations slow down. Perhaps though, you can all gear up to change routine...wink wink, nudge nudge.

Hat Trick of Help for The Homeless

I built a pyramid with 32 packages (3 bars per package) of soap. lol, that was kinda fun. Our good friend AnneMarie sent soap and more soap. The shelters love getting personal care items as well as the warm goodies. I'm calling this donation of 3 3's a hat trick of help. For any hockey fans out there watching The Stanley Cup Hockey Play off's, and a hat trick is someone who scores 3 goals for those of you who aren't into hockey. She also crocheted 3 pairs of mittens, 3 hats, and 3 scarves. Nicely done and many thanks AnneMarie for your thoughtful donations. Please keep up the good work. Always a pleasure seeing you here on Bridge and Beyond.

Please review the list of non bloggers, and the list of those with RAV, Facebook, Hive etc. pages and see if a state is listed with your name. If it's not, please...pretty please with sugar on it, leave a comment telling us what state your from so I can update lists, map, and database. You do not need to be a blogger to leave a comment. Folks, please take time and look around the blog. Some things have moved, some deleted, and some have other changes. I've tried out a couple of new templates and continue to tweak, so need you to spend some time and let me know how things look to you. Are you finding everything?

**Before you mail your donations, PLEASE, recheck to be certain you've included a note that includes your name and email ady at a minimum. This is essential, even if you wish to be anonymous. When donations come with no email ady, I spend large amounts of time searching for you through my emails, my database, my groups, RAV, Facebook etc. PLEASE save me that time and include your name and email ady.**

Donations to aid Homeless

AnneMarie, once again a fabulous donation. Lovely work, we so appreciate you. AnneMarie from New York has donated 7 matching crocheted sets of hats and scarves. I love how nicely sized they are, and thanks for some colors for the men folk! She also donated 7 pairs of slippers to help warm cold feet. You people never stop amazing me, day after day with your thoughtfulness!

Knitters and Crocheters are just plain awesome people!

**Please folks ALWAYS include a note with your donations that includes your name, your email ady and group we're in together (if that's how we know each other). It truly isn't possible for me to know and remember everyone over the number of years Bridge and Beyond has been in existence. I spend lots of HOURS, looking through emails, facebook friends, Rav friend, friends on The Hive and in The Ville; as well as yahoo mailing groups to try and identify donations without the information. I have no way of knowing if you want to be anonymous...if I knew that I could spend the time knitting and crocheting vs searching and searching. I do like to be able to let you know your donations have arrived safely and to be able to thank you. So PLEASE PLEASE, even if you want to be anonymous, include a note for me stating that. I fear when I can't make the identification, people just feel I'm not acknowledging their donations. That's not my choice. I want you to know your donation has been received, and that's it appreciated. There are times when after looking multiple days, and spending lots of hours I book something as unknown, and weeks later, I'll receive an email asking if their donations arrived. They feel bad, and I've wasted time. When your donation comes with a return address label with your husband's name...it's a good possibility, I don't know it's you. Additionally, the people who use nicknames in groups, and or fun names in their emails ady's typically don't come up in search when I plug in your real name (from the label) to find you. Please save the frustration at my end, and YOURS, include a note.

AnneMarie's Donation

How cute, and adorable and soooooooooo perfectly timed is this heart square afghan from our friend AnneMarie. I love the colors, the design, and the workmanship!!! As Mary Poppins would say practically perfect in everywhere. Remember by the time you read this scheduled post this adorable afghan has already been donated and is being used by some little girl who's now happier then she otherwise would have been. A cute blanket all for herself. These heart blocks are a perfect follow up on the contest that was announced yesterday. Please scroll back and read details. Remember you do not need to be a blogger to participate.
And, AnneMarie didn't want to leave out the little boys in her thoughtfulness. This wonderfully crocheted shades of blue ripple is perfect. The dark color is not black folks but dark blue...not sure why, but sometimes dark blues don't show up as dark blues well on the computer.
Her 10 hats will warm a variety of sized heads and her ever popular hand warmers will be so greatly received by those living out in the elements, as well as those in the shelters. Many thanks AnneMarie for your on going support of our cause. It is so very much appreciated. Please keep up the good work.

Hitting the Motherload of Squares

Greens, blues, variegated, pinks, reds, browns, solids, stripes, variegated, yellow and more. Seriously folks, this is The Motherload here. Crocheted squares, 150 of them from our Dear Friend, AnneMarie from the fabulous state of New York. WOW and WOW and holly Cow! These squares are awesome, beautifully made, tails nicely tucked except the final one (extra thanks for that). When tails are tucked it saves additional time for me doing the assembly. The design she used on the bulk of these squares happens to be one I'm very fond of...no clue if it has a name. I like how solid and sturdy this design is. Mostly granny squares, though some are also sampler style squares. Many thanks for your on going support and for your generosity, AnneMarie. I'll be able to make quite a few ghans with these.

Keeping Homeless Warm and Dry

Day 19 of Jack Otis Memorial Month

How high can you count? 6 doz socks (5 x 12) and 31 packs of double ponchos (62) from our good friend AnneMarie. Poncho's and socks are needed and appreciated all year long, but especially this time of year when being cold and wet can be disastrous for those living outdoors and those living in temporary and or insufficient housing. Being cold and wet is unhealthy and uncomfortable. So many thanks AnneMarie for your thoughtful and very useful donation for Ohio's Homeless.

Tips: Using double yarn makes nice thick, sturdy warm slippers.
Photograph and print the blog post to keep track of your donations if you need it come tax time.
Do not tie and cut when changing or adding yarn. Please leave a tail of several inches and work your ends in.

I launched a program called Welcome Home a couple of days ago. This is in connection our recent mission expansion that includes The Homeless Families Foundation in the list of those we help. If you've not yet read the post about The Foundation, please do, HERE.

MITTENS........Mittens will be October's focus, and we never get enough of those. I know they're not the easiest things to make. We do have a few patterns posted folks. As you think about making mittens and or reviewing patterns...think about adding length to the cuff; helps make them warmer. Thanks!

Helpful hint: when making slippers, please use double yarn, or a nice tight stitch for more durability.

**Unknown knitter in Seattle Washington, please scroll to previous post. Please make contact so I know who you are for record keeping**

All donations regardless of size and number are valued. All donations are appreciated, and all donations keep someone warm. We help, one stitch at a time. YOU truly DO make a difference. THANK YOU!

Hats, and ponchos, and Socks Oh My !

**Made correction on this post about yarn
My apologize, apparently mixed up 2 notes of ladies who donated yarn. Have corrected it to be Beth, many thanks Beth.

crochet hatI love love love this hat. Isn't it darling! Such a pretty color and the design with the wee bit of white, some young lady/teen girl/young adult is going to be thrilled. Not only will she be warm, she'll be styling. Had to show you a close up of this hat. With a little reminder, all photo's are clickable to see them larger, see them in more detail. This hat comes from our friend AnneMarie in New York. Can you share a link for the pattern to this hat? I'm wanting to add some items to our pattern page and think this would be an excellent one to add. Nice and warm, solid stitching etc.
donation for homelessHere is AnneMarie's full donation. All the hats (15) are awesome, and you can see the pattern I liked so well above is repeated in the blueish one on the bottom of the picture. Some of these hats are crochet, and I think a few are knit? The cable hats? Did you knit or crochet those?

6 pair of socks, as you know we can't get too many of those. Cold wet feet make everyone miserable, so our warm dry socks are always well received. AND 10 double packs or rain poncho's.....Nice!

Many thanks AnneMarie for your thoughtful donation and continued support.

**September is Scarf Month, and we're having another contest.
From now until October 8, I'll toss names into a hat for everyone who donates a scarf for a teen or adult...male or female. Feeling like we need to bump those numbers a bit and will draw the winning name from the hat and send out another box of yarn. Contests are fun. We've had several fun, productive, and successful contests. Every scarf donated for a teen or adult (at least 5 inches wide and 5 feet or longer please), will qualify. **

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
