Knitted Hats Made With LOVE

Look at these cute hats!  Many thanks Karla T for this thoughtful donation of loomed knitted hats.  She has a nice variety of size and color.....and what a special touch, please click to enlarge so you can see the cute cute size tags she used!  These are adorable.  She's added the size to the back.

Made with Love!  How sweet and appropriate is that!  Looks like she's printed them on her computer, punched a hole and tied on with yarn.  And as I said above she's written the size on the back.  This makes the whole thing seem so much like a gift........which it is; but we might forget that from time to time.  When we think of donations, we may not equate that term with giving a gift.  We're giving a gift to say we care, we love you, we wish the best for you.

Karla, gotta say.......you win the day with these.  They really made me smile and brought back a memory.  When I first started knitting and crocheting for charity.........YEARS ago, someone on line found silver and gold charms that were shaped like a heart that said made with love.  I used to tie the charm onto afghans I made for Squares for Survivors.  A charity to benefit those in Louisiana from hurricane Sandy.  At least from memory I think it was Sandy.  Haven't used or seen or thought of those little charms in a long while; but....they didn't have the ability to add size which your cute size tags do!

Keep up the good work and know your hats have made 5 more people warmer, and they know someone cares for them.

Donation for the Homeless from Sunny Florida, Take 3

Thank you Laura E from sunny Florida for this awesome donation.  I'm on a roll posting wonderful donations from our friends in the sunny state of Florida, lol.  Seriously scroll back to the previous 2 posts.  What's the mathematical likelihood of that happening?  Donations are posted in order of receipt so I got a kick out of this.

As you can see, our friend Laura has been very busy indeed.  She knitted up a storm.....look at the hats for example.  So many colors and sizes and all nicely tagged with size!  Something to warm lots of different heads.  She's also included personal care items, scarves, socks, and cotton washcloths.

In addition to the knitted cotton washcloths, she's included store bought.

If you click to enlarge the picture, so you can see the details, you'll notice bundles...she's packaged matching scarves and hats by tying them together.  That's a lovely idea, thank you!

Please keep up the good work Laura and know how much of difference you've made for Ohio's homeless and others in need with your thoughtful and generous donation.

Sunny Florida Donation, Part II

Sorry this picture is a bit blurry, I must have moved.  This crocheted and knitted donation is a continuation of the donation in the previous post from our good friend and long time supporter, Sandra R from the sunny state of Florida.  LOVE the colors she's chosen for the scarves, all good for men or women...teen or adult.  And the stitch she's used is nice and puffy and warm...very solid.  She's included some personal care items also........AND two knitted cotton wash cloths.

AND
A wonderful knitted basket weave stitch afghan.  I love the texture this stitch provides.  AND please look (remember to click to enlarge any picture) at the colors...very nice indeed.  I believe this is a chunky yarn by the feel of it.  Very soft, very nice and I know will be received with great excitement.

Sandra does beautiful work, I just can't figure out when she sleeps!  Many thanks Sandra, and as always keep up the good work and know what a difference you've made in lives of many in need through your donations here at Bridge and Beyond.

Knitted Hats Help Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Sandra R from The Sunshine State of Florida for this awesome donation.  Sandra has been a long time and generous supporter of Bridge and Beyond and she's helped so many in need through the years with her awesome skill with her knitting needles.

Take a look at the variety of sizes and styles in her hats!  All nicely tagged with size, thank you very much.  She's also included some her famous mittens, and you know how excited I get when we mittens donated.  They're not the easiest to make and not all of us have the skill to make them.  Double thanks Sandra for your on going support and your awesome skills, and kind caring heart.

As always, keep up the good work and know what a difference you make in the lives of those in need.

Stay tuned this was only one pouch of goodies from our friend Sandra

Donating, Doing Good for the Homeless

Thank you Barbara F for this awesome donation.  Look at all the variety folks.  Barbara has been a long time and generous supporter of Ohio's Homeless here on Bridge and Beyond.  So happy she's been with us for so long.

Barbara has crocheted hats, and scarves, including a couple of matching sets.  She's also included a bright colored mobius/infinity scarf, cotton washclothes, and some personal care items.  Awesome, all items will be greatly appreciated by those who receive them.

Thank you Barbara for taking the time to tag each of the hats with size.  That's a HUGE time saver and helps assure hats get properly separated to get to the people who need them.

Keep up the good work, and as always know how much good YOU are doing!

Matching Hat and Scarf Sets for Ohio Homeless

Thank you Karen S for this thoughtful donation of hats and scarf sets.  If you've been to this blog before, chances are, you've seen Karen's signature style.  The scarves are made using the method called Cro-Hooking, Crochenit, Reversible Tunisian, Reflective Reversible, and Double Ended Crochet.  Apparently there are a raft of names for this method.  The scarves are crocheted, but with a crochet hook at each end of the needle.  I can see why it's called Reflective Reversible...look at the light and dark sides of the scarf.  The feel of scarf is added warmth, it's a bit thicker then crocheting would be, from my touch.

In this post, I have a u-tube video showing you how to perform this technique if you'd like to give it a try.  Until Karen started donating hat and scarves sets to Bridge and Beyond, it was not a technique I had seen or heard of.  Let us know if you give it a try.  I must admit, I still haven't, though it's on my list of things to try.  I really like the look.

Click Here for my post with the video

Please keep up the good work Karen and know you are so very much appreciated.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
