Crocheted Hats Make Their Mark in Ohio all the Way From Minnesota

Thank you Judy C for this thoughtful donation of crocheted hats to warm heads in need.  Judy has crocheted 9 hats, with a variety of sizes, colors, and styles.  Something to warm lots of different sized heads!  She also tagged each hat with the size.  I list that as something everyone should do, but sometimes people don't.  Tagging with size helps ensure the donated item reaches the right people.  So thank you Judy C from Minnesota for taking the time to tag your hats with the size.  Much appreciated by me, and even more so from the various volunteers at the shelters.

Just is our newest pair of helping hands.  We're so happy to have you join us and look forward to seeing you often on Bridge and Beyond.  Please keep up the good work Judy, and know that you have made an important difference in the lives of 9 people.

Thank you!

Slippers, a Wonderful Donation for the Homeless

SLIPPERS!  Look at these great slippers, so many different colors and sizes.  Wonderful donation from Susan H.  I see people with happy warm, dry feet and that makes me happy.  These slippers are knitted with double strand, so they are nice and warm and cushy.  They are really beautifully made.  I've told myself a dozen times this is a pattern I'ld like to try myself, somehow I've never gotten around to it.

Slippers give people comfort in several ways.  If you're getting a night in the shelter you can change out of your socks (possibly when you're doing laundry) and slip into these comforting cozy sleepers for the night.  Likewise if you're living in the elements and your feet are wet and cold from the day outside...having a pair of slippers to change into can certainly make you feel better.

Foot health is hard for our homeless friends.  When your feet are so often cold and wet, it's easy to not have healthy feet, so having dry clean socks and or slippers to change into is truly a wonderful thing.

Thank you Susan for taking time to tag each pair.......such a huge benefit for getting these to people in need quickly.  Please keep up the good work and know you've made a difference in the lives of those who will receive your slippers.

Knitting and Crocheting in Sunny Florida Helps Ohio's Homeless

Look at this wonderful donation from our long time friend, Sandra R from the sunny state of Florida!!  She has been very busy knitting and crocheting.  She's knitted hats in different styles, colors and sizes.  She crocheted scarves, she's knitting the very popular corner to corner cotton washcloth, Grandma's favorite!!  WOW and WOW.  Lots of folks will be warm and know they are cared for with this donation.  Special thanks for always tagging your hats with sizes.  We strongly encourage everyone to do that.  AND.........look, she's also knitted mittens.  And yes we're finally warming up here in central Ohio, though the nights are still quite cool and we've not yet passed the danger of frost so donations are indeed still needed and still very much appreciated.
AND drum roll.  She also been busy crocheting an awesome corner to corner afghan.  I LOVE these colors, suitable for a man or a woman...So pretty.

Thanks for all your hard work Sandra, we really appreciate you.  Keep up the good work.

Personal Care and More Help Homeless

Thank you Nikki S for this thoughtful donation.  Nikki has included lots of variety in her latest donation, socks, personal care items, crocheted scarf, matching red scarf and gloves, and long johns.  Though the calendar says it's spring....it's still dark and gloomy, still damp, still cold here in Central Ohio............particularly in the evenings for those living in the elements, so this donation of goodies was very much appreciated.

Special thanks too Nikki for hand delivering to my door!  I got this donation delivered pronto to Rae, our friend who prepares hot meals on Sat mornings for those living out in the elements.  She was thrilled, as she knows the need of those folks.

Thank you Nikki, and please keep up the good work.

Donated Crocheted Cotton Wash Cloths, Help Homeless

Thank you Sandie P from Louisiana for this nice donation of crocheted cotton wash cloths.  If you're new to this blog, you might wonder how or why cotton wash cloths.........knitted or crocheted make for a good donation for Ohio's Homeless.  If you're thinking well they don't keep anyone warm, you would be right.  They are though used in a variety of ways, by both women and men in need.

When you live out in the elements, and bathing is infrequent, taking care of your skin can be a very difficult thing to do.  Your skin gets chapped from the cold and the damp, and or from the sun, and wind.  Knitted or crocheted cotton wash cloths are far softer and nicer to the skin then store bought wash cloths.  Shelters use them when someone get's a night in the shelter and get's to take a shower, shelters use them in their welcome home packs where they can be used as wash cloths for showering or dish cloths.  Truly an appreciated item.

Many thanks Sandie, for your long time support of Bridge and Beyond and Ohio's Homeless.  You've made a huge difference in the lives of many throughout the years.  Please keep up the good work.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
