Thank you Cynthia B and Juli B....these scarves are a continuation of their donation posted on November 1st. I mentioned they had more, but generally try to minimize the number of pictures here on this blog, Bridge and Beyond.
Again scarves with lots of different colors, same crocheted width-wise and tohers lengthwise. Notice some more Buckeye Scarves! Those are always a hit. These ladies teamed up with their crocheting, what a nice way to connect with people.
Thank you Cynthia and Juli, please remember to pack some sun next time, lol. Yes, they are from The Sunshine State and it's only early November and I'm already tired of the frost and cold. Please keep up the good work.

Thank you Karen S....for this thoughtful donation. Bet you all knew it was from her the minute you saw the scarves; though others have now started crocheting scarves in this fashion as well. You can't go wrong with the color of blue. Blue works well for men or women...and blue works well for any age group. Always LOVE the look of the light and darker side with this stitch. And Karen's also included some nice warm knit on a loom hats. Many thanks Karen for taking the time to tag hats with size, that's always appreciated by the folks at the shelters as well as me. It also spends up time in getting donated hats to the right folks....size wise.
AND...look, Karen's also crocheted a lapghan in nice blues and tans, again suitable for men or women. The size (lapghan), can also work nicely for a younger child to snuggle up in.

Crocheted scarves, headbands, and cotton wash cloths!!
Look how many different colors and sizes are available in this very generous donation from Cynthia B and Juli B! Awesome work ladies from the sunny state of Florida. Some scarves are made side to side and others are crocheted lengthwise.
Some...even look like Buckeye Colors in this picture!! LOVE the one on the far right. All are great, but I like how that one is almost solid.....but bold with color at the same time.
Well done ladies! Keep up the good work and know you're making a difference here on Bridge and Beyond. We've had over a week of frost at night, and a few nights below freezing temps already. I fear it's going to be a long cold winter.

Boooooo
A few days ago I was walking through the neighborhood and spotted this. It's a home where young children live, so I thought this was a bit scary. It's size is over powering. I don't know if it lights up at night, as I've not been by at night; but am curious and bet it does. Wouldn't it frighten small children going door to door?
Do you decorate for Halloween? I never have beyond having a carved pumpkin on the porch when my Darling Daughter was young. Pretty sure my Mom didn't when I was young; but it seems to be quite common now days. This was held up by guide wires and staked into the ground in several spots. The wires weren't very visible, I really had to look cause wondered what was keeping this in place. Would think it might be easy to trip over if you didn't see it..so surely it must be lite at night?
Happy Halloween, hope you all have a safe Halloween. I've not purchased candy, don't think I had any kids last year, and maybe only 3 the year before. The last several years have been just as light and I end up with more candy than I need or want. I have added it to my donations with Rae in the past, but think other things are probably better. Soooooo, unless I get nervous about it tomorrow, will probably not buy candy.

Blogging in Alphabetical Order brings us to the letter V. I've previously blogged about Veterans (Rest in Peace, 1st Class Jerome Murdough) with respect to be homeless, and another V post titled, Ebony Arrested, Car Impounded, Jeff Glazer APD and CNN's Victor Blackwell.
Today, as I think about the letter V and homelessness I thought about the word Vagrant, defined as a person without a settled home or regular work, who wanders from place to place and lives by begging. I was going to explore that further, when the word VIOLENCE, came to mind, and thus I found the above pictures and story.
Two brothers in the thirties, Scott and Steve Leader beat a homeless man that was sleeping near the JFK/UMass subway station. The beat him with a metal pipe and urinated on him because they thought he was an illegal-immigrant. They were heard saying, "Donald Trump" is right while beating him. He suffered bruised ribs and a broken noise among other injuries. The 58 year old homeless man was NOT an illegal immigrant and the brothers are serving short prison sentences of 2.5 years and 3 years (not sure why each brother got a different sentence), and community service during the probation that is to follow the incarceration period. They were charged with 2 counts each of assault and battery and assault and battery with a weapon.
How sad is it that a person living in the elements, asleep is beaten, endures violence just because they're homeless.............even if they had been an immigrant.
While we here on Bridge and Beyond can't put an end to the violence many homeless men, women, and children suffer.............we can do our best to let them know people care. We can continue to show we care about them as people by supplying them with warm knitted or crocheted items to make their days a bit more comfortable, and perhaps give them hope.
Please do what you can, when you can and know that it matters.

Awesome! Look at this nice warm afghan from our good friend and generous supporter, Karen S. I LOVE the nice dark colors and how warm it is. This afghan is great both in size and color for either a man or a woman. I know whomever wraps up in this will be thrilled.
And...Karen's included 20 crocheted cotton washcloths in her donation. The green works for either men or women, and so does the tan white camo....and I LOVE the fall blend of brown, orange and green. I've not seen that particular color blend before. Very nice indeed. Cotton washcloths, knitted or crocheted have so many uses and are always so well received. They're used as personal washcloths and are so nice on the skin...more so than purchased washcloths, for those that have been living out in the elements. They're used as dishcloths as well. Folks getting a night in the shelter use them, they're put in welcome home packages when people transition from shelter living to a permanent housing situation. Men, women and children use them.
Look at our numbers folks, with this afghan we're now just past 3/4th of the way to our goal of donated afghans!! It's almost Halloween, will we make it? Are you working on an afghan, as we speak? I'm hoping to have one finished shortly...how about you?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name.
