Tote Bags and More for the Homeless

Thank you Nikki S for this awesome donation.  Nikki has included 6 scarves, lots of good personal care items, and tote bags in her donation.  The tote bags are a great idea!  Folks living day to day, in a shelter or out in the elements need means of keeping their stuff together.

Special thanks too for the delivery, right to my door; much appreciated.

As always, please click the picture to enlarge to see details.  I'm particularly fond of the scarf at the bottom of picture, love that color combination.  AND the scarf above the tan tote, where you see the V's in 2 colors........what stitch is that, not familiar with it.

Many thanks Nikki for your on going support of Bridge and Beyond, it's always appreciated.  Please keep up the good work.

Loomed Hats Warm Cold Heads of Homeless

Thank you Sharon D for this thoughtful donation of 4 warm hats.  Sharon D is our newest pair of helping hands.  We're thrilled you found us here on Bridge and Beyond, Sharon and put your talents to work.  These 4 hats are knitted on a loom and have the nice double band which always makes the hats nice and warm.

Sharon D is our newest pair of helping hands.  Welcome to the group Sharon.  We hope to see you here often on Bridge and Beyond.  LOVE the colors you've chosen, particularly those dark blues.  These colors work well for men or women.  Well done!!

Folks the weather has been really ugly here for a week.  We've had cold, gray, wet for a solid week, and as I write this post and schedule it to post, it's raining....AGAIN.  So please keep your needles and hooks and looms busy.

As the weather turns here and elsewhere, please all be extra careful as you move indoors and stay safe from the Corona Virus.

Crocheting Warms Homeless

Thank you Tara B for your on going special delivery of socks!  Tara set up a monthly delivery of socks from Amazon.  That way she doesn't need to shop, or pay postage on the socks.  They come right from Amazon to us here at Bridge and Beyond.  I think she's brilliant for thinking of that.  It's truly cold, wet and ugly here now in central Ohio, making the need for socks truly important.  Cold wet feet are a real problem.  Being able to change into warm dry socks is a beautiful thing.

Additionally, Tara's been busy with yarn and hook.  She's crocheted and donated hats, a scarf, and a round afghan.  The round afghan is sized for a small child or perhaps a lap throw.  I think given that it matches one of the small hats a child is the match.

Many thanks Tara for your support of Bridge and Beyond, please keep up the good work.  Stay safe.  As the weather turns around the country, I fear the Covid situation is going to worsen.  If we all stay busy indoors with our yarn, hooks, and needles, we can stay safe.

Knitting for Homeless and Those in Need

WOW!!  Anna W. has been super super busy!!  Look at this awesome donation of knitted hats, and wrist warmers (fingerless mitts).  She used a knitting loom for both her hats and her wrist warmers.  This pattern is wonderful.  I've discussed before how well this pattern truly goes up the arm and warms far more than just the wrist, and how well it covers your hands.

I LOVE all the nice dark colors for both hats and warmers.  AND she's also tagged things nicely with size.  Lots of folks will be warmer because of this generous donation.

AND, I super excited to say, this is the last of the handful of photo's that went missing.  Anna's donation is from awhile ago.  Plus, the other excitement is, I figured out the problem that happened when pictures where transferred from my phone to the computer when the snafu happened.  Yippee, the end of the problem.

Many thanks Anna for this awesome donation and please keep up the good work.

It's a Family Affair

Thank you Hubby!  Hubby doesn't knit or crochet, but he said, I can do socks.  So socks he did.  A bakers dozen.  We've had nights and early mornings in the 30's already, so the need for warm things is indeed upon us.  To my way thinking, it's  seems to have come way to early this year.  Some trees are almost bare from leaves already down, and I have zero flowers left blooming in the yard........<Sigh>  Fall is here.  And from how busy the squirrels seem to be burying goodies throughout the yard, I fear that means winter won't be mild.

Thank you Hubby, 13 people will have warmer feet because of your donation.

It's a family affair.  This awesome knitted mobius/infinity scarf/cowl was knitted and donated by my Darling Daughter!   I LOVE the colors.  The yarn is soooooo nice and soft.   Click the picture to enlarge so you can see the details (remember you can do that with all pictures on the blog).   There some nice texture, I don't remember what stitch pattern she used.    Whomever receives this awesome mobius/infinity scarf/cowl will be thrilled.  They'll be warm and stylish.

AND, she's been busy knitting up some yarn from my stash.  LOVE these colors together, but, am trying to determine how to put together for a ghan.  Sometimes, that's interesting part of using up stash.  Knit or crochet until you run out of yarn, and then see what you can put together.  You can see 9 strips of the beautiful variegated, and 5 strips of the solid blue.   This design is funky in that the strips on the left side are vertical and the stripes on the rights side are horizontal.  Plus the placement of blue strips isn't uniform.

This possible design is with only 4 of the solid blue strips and 10 of the variegated.   The  2 sides are even in that they each have the same number of blue and variegated strips, but again you have the vertical vs the horizontal.

Open to opinions of which design you like best and or other suggestions.  I also need to check my stash, as I think I have some purple, which I think I would like to use for edging and joining.

AND, if you're a regular reader, you know I always name the afghans that are assembled.  How about Purple Haze for this one?

Again thank you Dear Hubby and Darling Daughter!  Keep up the good work and know it makes a difference to many.

Knitted Goodies for Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Michelle N for this thoughtful donation of knitted goodies!  Michelle has included slippers (left side bottom in fall colors), knitted washcloths (right bottom), and 2 hats, and a scarf.  As you can see the hat and scarf make a nice set.  I usually lay out slippers and cloths so you can see them, but she's made them like a gift bundle by tying them nicely and adding a tag...I wanted to leave them that way.  So thought I would tell you what they were.

Many thanks Michelle for adding the nice tags with size etc.

Please know you items will be well received and very much appreciated.

Thank you and please keep up the good work.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
