Scarves! LOTS of different colors. Thank you Cynthia B for this generous donation of crocheted scarves to help Bridge and Beyond warm the homeless in need. Click folks to see the variety in her stripes and colors. I particularly like the one in the front on the left...the black-red-gray........looks very Buckeye-ish. So does the the red 2 up from that with black and gray.
Cynthia has been very busy, there are 20 scarves! Well actually, 19 in the picture. After I picked them up to bag them for delivery, realized I missed one that was sitting on the chair beside this area, so her donation is 20 scarves!! Woot woot, 20 additional warmer people.
Folks, please check out our goals in the right side bar. All the numbers are growing which is exciting as we're definitely into the cold weather now here in central Ohio. With this donation, we're almost at the 50% mark for scarves. Getting real close.
Many thanks Cynthia and please keep up the good work. You've made an important difference in the lives of 20 people in need.

Helping Cold Homeless With Donations
Thank you Stephanie S for this thoughtful donation. Stephanie has crocheted a couple of cowls/mobious/neck gators....lol, so many names, I'm sure there are more. She also included a cotton washcloth in her donation to help Ohio's Homeless in need.
Stephanie is our newest pair of helping hands and we're so happy to have you join us. Keeping people warm is no small task. There are many who need help, so the more pairs of helping hands we have the more people we can keep warm.
It's hard for me to believe how quickly this year has past. As I typed this post, it's almost Thanksgiving. Where has the time gone? Our weather here in Central Ohio got cold earlier than normal, seems to be wetter than normal as well. Please do what you can with your crochet hooks, yarn, knitting needles, and looms. Also, please help spread the word as you talk to other crafters.
Many thanks to all who help, it is really appreciated by those in need.

Loomed Hats Help the Homeless
Thank you Karen S for this thoughtful and generous donation!! Karen has been busy with her loom knitting these wonderful warm hats. Loomed hats are always so nice and warm because they're made with a double thickness of yarn. Additionally, they have the brim area which is actually thicker still.
What a nice mix of colors Karen. Something here for men and women. AND I love how you've upped your game with the adorable size tags. Folks, please click so you can see the details. She's cut out hearts, added the size to the hearts, punches a hold and tied on the hats with yarn. Really nicely done.
We ask everyone to tag their hats with size, as it helps the volunteers at the various shelters get items into the right area for quick distribution to the folks in need.
8 People will know they are cared for with this lovely donation. As Always Karen, please keep up the good work and know you make a difference in the lives of many.
*****hey folks did you notice the goal counter in the left side bar.....with this donation, we're now just over 40% of our goal for hats!!!

Long Time Supporter, Sandie P, Thank You for your Donations
Thank you Sandie P for these awesome crocheted scarves. The blue-green scarf is super soft Lion Brand Homespun Yarn. You can see it has a bit more texture, partially due to the yarn and partially due to the different stitch Sandie used. Sandie has been one of the longest supporters of Bridge and Beyond and Ohio's Homeless. Her work is always beautiful.

Sandie maintains a blog where she often does tutorials about how to do a particular stitch or how to work with a particular pattern. If you've not visited her blog, please do. These two donations of crocheted scarves came in 2 separate pouches at different times, but because I'm playing catch up, I'm posting them here together. Notice there's actually sunshine on the 2nd picture with the 3 nice gray scarves..........we don't see much of that this time of the year. Seriously, today as I'm typing it's just warmed up to 28 degrees.......yes that means it was colder earlier. It was 20 when I got out of bed this am. I'm cold here in the house, so it's beyond my comprehension how cold it must for folks living out in the elements. So, truly these warm scarves that are long enough to wrap around and wide enough to really cover the neck and chest are perfect.
Folks, please refresh your memory about what sizes, colors, and fibers are needed by reading the information in the tabs across the top of the blog for the item you're knitting or crocheting. It's important to be sure our donations meet the needs of those we serve. Please remember to stay away from white, and pastels and suede or novelty or wool yarn. We need items made that can be washed and that hold up well. If you have question not addressed in those tabs across the top of the blog, please sing out.
Thank you Sandie for your long time support and your giving heart.

Joy to The World, Joy to the Fishes and the Deep Blue Sea
Thank you, Thank you! My old friend Joy D.....yes I couldn't help but think of The 3 Dog Nights Joy to the World...... But, back to Joy, you can see she been super busy with yarn and her speedy crochet hook. Joy is another one of my high school friends, who I recently saw at our 50th High School Reunion. I've known Joy many years, as we also went to Junior High together back in the day. I knew her Mother well, as she was a pink lady at the hospital where I was a Candy Striper. Pink Ladies are volunteers, who's uniforms were pink, back in the day.
Joy's work is very special. Click the picture to make it larger so you can see all the colors and styles of hats and scarves she has crocheted. Her work is always super warm because it's nice and thick. I really don't know how she crochets so tightly, it would make my arthritis go bonkers. Joy has included hats and scarves, many are matches sets.
A few posts ago I posted another donation from one of my previous classmates. I think it's pretty special that friends I knew that many long years ago are using their talents to help Ohio's Homeless through their donations here on Bridge and Beyond. Joy lives in Delaware. It was so awesome getting to visit with you at the reunion; but like so many truly not enough time to visit with everyone for any period of time.
Thank you for your long term friendship and your long time support of Bridge and Beyond, and please keep up the good work and know you've made a difference in the lives of so many people.

Thank you Karen S, Crocheted Scarves Help the Homeless
Thank you Karen S! I bet by now most of you who frequent my blog, Bridge and Beyond are able to recognize Karen's donations before I give her name! Her signature stitch, is very recognizable. I've posted video's a few times of how to do this stitch of many names.
Seriously this stitch is known by lots of different names:
Cro-hooking
Crochenit
Reversable Tunisian Crochet
Double Ended Crochet.........are just some of them. Click here for the video if you've not watched before or want to see how it's done.
Karen has also included a toothbrush and paste. Which brings me to something about personal care items I thought I would pass along to you all. I've often mentioned collecting those little samples as you travel for leisure or business.......I've done it myself often when traveling; but........apparently some hotel chains are starting to do away with that for environmental reasons. In an effort to reduce the plastic, they are going for larger, refillable containers with soap, shampoo and conditioner. I know Marriott has announced that it's phasing it in and I've seen in thus far in a few hotels in my travels. I'm not familiar with others; but thought I would mention it here, so you can at least be aware. Due to being members, we always stay at Marriott's. I would imagine other chains are doing the same thing?
Many thanks Karen for your donation, and your on going support of Bridge and Beyond and Ohio's homeless. Please know we truly appreciate you, and your skillful hands. Please keep as the good work and know you do make a difference in the lives of many.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?
I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.
Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
