High School Friend Crochets and Donates to Help Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Joy D!!  Joy is long time supporter of Bridge and Beyond, and a long time friend.......she and I go way back.  We attended junior high and high school together.  She does beautiful crocheting and shares her talent and big heart with those in need through Bridge and Beyond.  Look at this wonderful and generous donation of hats, and scarves.  Lots of colors, lots of sizes, lots of styles!!
Truly something for everyone.  With her color selection she has items for the ladies, some for men, and some that work for either men or women.  Many many thanks Joy.  Please keep up the good work, and know how many people will be warmer with your donation.

Folks the weather has turned.  We're having some sunny days, but the nights are cool, and quite damp.  We've had fog and I fear we'll soon have our first frost of the season and then.....well you know in central Ohio, it's going to be cold before we know it.

Check out our graphs...we're 84% to our goal for hats and 61% of our goal for scarves with this donation!!

Please keep your hooks and knitting needles busy.

High School Friend Crochets and Donates

Woot Woot!  Look at this wonderful donation of crocheted goodies!  Hats, scarves, and cotton washcloths galore.  This donation comes from Joy D, a friend from my school days.  We went to Junior High and High School together.  When I was a Candy Striper I often worked with her Mother at the hospital.  Memories abound.

As always click to enlarge the picture to see details.  Joy has crocheted lots of hats in a good variety of sizes.  Most of the hats have a matching scarf to make a nice set. LOVE these nice dark colors that won't show the dirt and can work well for either women or men.

And, she's also included cotton washcloths which are always a hit as they have multiple purposes

Yes Spring has hit Ohio; but........most of this past week we had frost over night, as it's still getting down below freezing some nights.

And, there was this.

Burr!!  That's the fence between our back yard and our neighbors, notice you can barely see through the fence.  It snowed at night and must have been blowing sideways quite a bit to create that.  Notice all my plants along the fence row are covered with snow.  Argh, go away winter.  Luckily it didn't last; but ...we're not warm enough everyday that items aren't needed.

Many thanks Joy, and please keep up the good work.

Classmate Crochets and Donates to Help Ohio's Homeless

What a wonderful donation of crocheted goodies!!  This donation comes from a good friend of mine, and someone I graduated from high school with 50 ish years ago.  We got to see each other last October at our 50th Class Reunion.  So grateful we managed to have the reunion BEFORE all the troubled times with the virus.

Joy D, does beautiful work.  Look at all the hats and matching scarf sets.  The scarves are all folded rather than draped so I would be able to get them all in the picture.  Hats of different sizes to warm a variety of head sizes.  She's also crocheted some cotton washcloths and included personal care items in her generous donation.

Many thanks Joy and know what an important difference you make to homeless Ohioans.

As always, please keep up the good work.  AND please stay safe during these difficult times.

Joy to The World, Joy to the Fishes and the Deep Blue Sea

Thank you, Thank you!  My old friend Joy D.....yes I couldn't help but think of The 3 Dog Nights Joy to the World......  But, back to Joy, you can see she been super busy with yarn and her speedy crochet hook.  Joy is another one of my high school friends, who I recently saw at our 50th High School Reunion.  I've known Joy many years, as we also went to Junior High together back in the day.  I knew her Mother well, as she was a pink lady at the hospital where I was a Candy Striper.  Pink Ladies are volunteers, who's uniforms were pink, back in the day.

Joy's work is very special.  Click the picture to make it larger so you can see all the colors and styles of hats and scarves she has crocheted.  Her work is always super warm because it's nice and thick.  I really don't know how she crochets so tightly, it would make my arthritis go bonkers.  Joy has included hats and scarves, many are matches sets.

A few posts ago I posted another donation from one of my previous classmates.  I think it's pretty special that friends I knew that many long years ago are using their talents to help Ohio's Homeless through their donations here on Bridge and Beyond.  Joy lives in Delaware.  It was so awesome getting to visit with you at the reunion; but like so many truly not enough time to visit with everyone for any period of time.

Thank you for your long term friendship and your long time support of Bridge and Beyond, and please keep up the good work and know you've made a difference in the lives of so many people.

Crocheted Donations from Delaware Help Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Joy D for this awesome donations of super warm and soft hats and scarves.  There were two pictures, and something happened to the 2nd picture.  As my note indicates Joy, my high school, crocheted and donated 12 scarves and 20 hats in total.  This is the 2nd of the two pictures.  My notes indicate the first picture (there were two boxes of donations) were 8 scarves and 10 hats.

So sorry you're not able to see the other picture, as Joy's work is always so nice.  She always uses nice dark colors, and look how neat and tight her stitches are...which makes everything nice and warm!

Thank you Joy for spending your time in Delaware to crochet to warm the homeless here in Ohio.  You truly make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

Please keep up the good work.

Crocheted Hats and Scarves for Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Joy D, my old high school friend for this awesome and very generous donation of crocheted goodies!  Joy and I go back a long way, clear back to junior high days.  She crochets beautifully.  I love all the nice dark solid colors that are suitable for men or women.  She's been busy as you see.  I needed to take 2 pictures so I could spread out her whole donation.  Scarves are nice and big so they'll be able to be really wrapped around for added warmth!  Hats are nice and think.

I always marvel at how tightly and evening Joy is able to crochet, being able to do that really makes the items super warm.

Many thanks for your thoughtfulness Joy, and many thanks for your long standing friendship!

Pictures of Donations for the Homeless After Being Hacked!

If you read yesterday's post (and if not PLEASE PLEASE do), you know I was hacked and have been without the ability to use my computer and post for sometime.
To give you an idea of what wonderful donations have been pending.  I'm posting these pictures, which will all be discussed in subsequent blog posts.
As note in yesterday's post, some pictures were stuck on my computer without my ability to get to them, others stuck in my camera without the ability to load them anywhere.
Almost all of these wonderful donations had already been bagged for delivery.
A few have come while I was working through the issues.
And, as we'll be catching up....thought you'd enjoy seeing all these wonderful knitted, crocheted, and loomed goodies!

Our weather here as already started to turn.  August in fact might have been one of the coldest I can remember.  Ohio August's are always referred to as the dog days of summer.  Not this year.  The last several weeks of the month we had many mornings with temps in the 50's, which is just crazy.
And now for the last month, we thought we might have what in this area is referred to as Indian Summer....once the kids get back to school it gets super hot.  NOPE, that didn't happen either.
While we've not had frost yet, we have had lots of fog that last several mornings.  Could barely see out the window this am and it didn't clear til around 10:30 am.  Strange weather indeed.  Though mind you, we're not having floods, or hurricanes, or tornado's or earthquakes, or wild fires and for that, I am very grateful.
The fabulous donations are from:
Melinda G, Emily K, Sandie P, Sandra R, Connor W, Karen S, and Joy D.  Not necessarily in that order folks, just reading from notes.

Please know all your donations are very much appreciated.  AND please keep coming back to the blog to see the blog posts with your goodies.

Again Thank you all for your patience.  AND again, if you didn't read yesterday's post PLEASE do.  I want you all to be informed.

Also folks, thought it was time for a new look so have changed the layout, and theme/color of the blog a bit.  Hope you like it.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
