Blue Sea-Blue Ocean Afghan

These 4 knitted panels from Mary Hoyt are very close in length and put together will become an afghan.  I love the mix of colors, the blocks and patches of various sizes.  Blues and Greens...almost a sandy green.  Made me think of the sand that churns up as the tide  goes in and out.  The Ocean and or Sea is sometimes green, sometimes blue, sometimes a mix.  Other times it's close to brown or brownish green or brownish blue.
A different view.  As I tossed the panels down I immediately put the solid greenish...sand panel next to the one where that color also appears.  But, after staring at these photo's awhile I think perhaps switching it up so it's not next to it...I think flip flopping the solid panel with the panel on the far right side might be a better option????

So far I'm thinking Blue Sea or Blue Ocean for the name.  Way in folks, what do you think?  I'm sure I have something in my stash to add a bit to panel closest to us in this picture to make it the same length as the other panels.  I really like the look and think this will be make an awesome afghan.  The yarn I think is a chunky yarn, it's quite soft with the stitches nice and close so it will be warm.

Let me know your thoughts folks.

Thank you Sandra R for Helping Ohio's Homeless

Can you guess who's fabulous donation this is?  Come on,  give it try.  She lives in a warmth climate, she knits, and she's one of our stellar mitten makers....If you guessed Sandra R. from Florida go to the head of the class!  Sandra always makes beautiful items, tags them with size and pairs them beautifully. This donation has lots of wonderful mittens in great darker colors, hats that like the mittens are a variety of sizes and scarves.  She's also included some personal care items.

Many thanks Sandra for your on going support of Ohio's Homeless here on Bridge and Beyond.  We truly appreciate all your efforts.  Please keep up the good work, you've put smiles on many faces.

Rusty Nail Afghan in the Works

Here's Rusty Nail in it's previous stage when you saw it with 2 rows joined but not attached.
It's growing now with another row joined and then attached (top 2 rows).  Working on the sizing for 3rd row with the 4th row there to aid in the guide which is joined but not attached.

And here with row three almost completely joined.  Looks like I need to make another square, or check my stash to see if I have one I can slip in.  It's always very hard to tell how much the knitted squares will grow once edged.  See the 5th one in the 3rd row in the 2nd picture.  It has some cool detail in texture design, just needed to be stretched  out with the crocheted edging.  This photo is a bit dark and it's very gloomy outside and even with lights on inside, it's hard to get the colors exactly right in the photo.

What are you all working on?  Our  homeless friends need your help.

**psss did you see the fun yarn bowl above?  The tangerine square is still being edged and the yarn is in my yarn bowl.  This is the yarn bowl I painted with my Darling Daughter.

Donating Personal Care Items Helps the Homeless.

Personal Care Items and coffee packs I collected from a recent trip.  The personal care items are always needed by all the shelters, as well as those under the bridges living in the elements.  The coffee packs will go to our friend Rae who prepares hot meals for those on the streets on Saturday mornings.

Folks this is a good way to help, when time is tight and you're not crocheting or knitting, or perhaps you don't knit or crochet at all.  Everyone can donate personal care items.

Crochet Afghan Donated to Homeless Families Foundation

Thank you Barbara F for this lovely corner to corner crocheted afghan.  What great colors, suitable for male or female, adult or teen.  Wanted to show you two views so you could get a good look at it folks.
And don't be mislead by that bit of sunshine coming in the window.  It's been in very short supply here in Central Ohio.  We've had two mornings in the last week that were 24 and 26 degrees when I got up in the morning.......so the sunshine is truly misleading on the weather.

Thank you Barbara for this thoughtful donation.  Whatever families receives this beautiful afghan at Homeless Families Foundation will be thrilled.

Please keep up the good work.

High School Friends Crochets and Donates

Thank you Joy D from Delaware for this awesome donation.  Joy is a long time friend of mine.  We went to high school together.......so you know....way way back in time, lol.  Joy's crocheted hats, scarves, and cotton washcloths.

What a nice assortment of hat sizes and colors to fit a variety of head sizes.  Likewise her cotton washcloths are different sizes...some might be used as dish cloths, others for bathing.  And look at the pretty blue green scarves.......I've  always loved blue and green together.

Many thanks Joy, and please keep up the good work.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
