Crocheted Afghan truly says Welcome Home

If I were naming this afghan it would have to be something along the lines of Caribbean Cruise.   I've always been a big fan of blues and greens together, this definitely makes me think of ocean and salty breezes.  Another wonderful team effort with squares made by our good friend from New York, AnneMarie, and assembled by our other good friend, Sherry K right here in Buckeye Land.  It also reminds me of the first 2 peace bathing suit I had way back in the day.  Twas a real 2 piece too, not a bikini.  Back in the dark ages when I was a young girl you stayed pretty covered up ...even in a 2 piece.  Boy legs were more like shorts, the waste was covered and the top was anything but skimpy.  Anyone as old as dirt like me and remember the style I'm describing?  lol

Thank you Sherry and AnneMarie, you both Rock!

Crocheted Afghans Welcome Families Home

Thank you Patty S for these two crocheted afghans.  I'm not sure, but think maybe this a broomstick lace type stitch?  Patty is it?  The burgundy should work well for a child to cuddle up in,
and the blue and variegated one is long enough for a tall adult.  Both are heavy and therefore nice and warm.  And who doesn't like blue, this will be definitely be a hit whomever is the recipient.  Keep up the good work Patty.

Folks it's been awhile since I've posted what we do with our afghans, they're given to families when they leave shelter living and transition into their permanent housing situation.  It's a way of saying congratulations your move, a house warming gift, and good luck for the future that we hope is brighter for you and yours.

Team Crocheting Aids the Homeless

This afghan is the result of what I call team crochet.  A good friend of ours from New York, AnneMarie made these lovely squares, and another good friend of ours Sherry K, a fellow Buckeye edged and assembled the afghan.  What a beautiful result.  You might have seen this afghan earlier on Sherry's blog.  I love the jewel tones, it reminds me of a kaleidoscope.  Great work ladies!
Sherry's also been busy crocheting hats, slippers and a scarf .  Many thanks Sherry for tagging the hats and slippers with size, much appreciated.

Both Sherry and AnneMarie have been long time supporters of Bridge and Beyond, thrilled to have them with us.  Not too long ago, I posted a retro Avon's Calling post.  In addition to crocheting for those in need, Sherry's an Avon Representative.  I suggested you all might like to double your help by buying Avon from Sherry.  How does that help double?  Well, when you buy from Sherry, you give her the ability to get more yarn which turns into helping more people.  AND, you could even order personal care items from Sherry for the homeless here on Bridge and Beyond and help both with her Avon=yarn, and the personal care items needed for the shelters.

Or perhaps you need to do some Christmas Shopping.........Sherry's Avon Page is linked above.

Crocheted Scarves for the Homeless

More crocheted items from Jane Burmeister and friends, The Sullivan Group.  Lots of scarves for the ladies, as well as a couple of cowls/neck warmers of different styles.
You might remember a previous post with pictures from this group.  As I understand it they get together at work and crochet.  I'm still in need of contact from Jane or someone in the group and am hopeful they'll see the post, or one of the many notices here on the blog, the facebook group and or twitter.  Would love to know how many people where involved in the project.
The little yellow hat will help keep a child warm, while these scarves will aid the ladies at the shelters.  Many thanks Sullivan Group/Jane Burmeister.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
