Knitting and Crocheting to Help Homeless

Thank you Marie P from Tennessee for this thoughtful donation.  Not a good picture at all, darn it folks.  Marie's has donated some personal care items, a scarf, hat, and 3 pairs of socks.  The contrast in the black and orange seem to make it hard to see...that and it was a very dark gloomy day when I took the picture; not that we've many that haven't been.

Thank you Marie for tagging the hat with size, I really appreciate that and know the volunteers at the shelters do too.

**Wonder what to make?  Check the tabs across the top of the blog, hats, scarves, mittens, slippers etc. each item we collect has it's own tab with necessary information about size, color, and fiber as well as patterns you might enjoy using.  There's a tab for knitted and crocheted cotton washcloths, and afghans.  If you have a question you don't find the answer to in those tabs, please leave a comment, or use the contact form in the right side bar, or email me at sandycrochet@gmail.com

March and April we're focusing on men and all things they need like hats, scarves, mittens, slippers, socks, personal care items etc.

Mother and Daughter Team Work Makes it Happen

Thank you Roseann M from Pennsylvania for this thoughtful donation of crocheted hats for the kiddos.  Roseann is our newest pair of helping hands and we're thrilled to have her join us.  This pile of cute hats was "something" to do during this long cold winter.  Roseann's daughter, Stana found us on the internet and communicated about her mother having these hats and wanting to help.  How cool is that.  Team work.  Roseann with the hook in hand and Stana typing away on the internet.

22 Heads will now be warmer and happier thanks to this thoughtful donation.  Hope to see you here often on Bridge and Beyond ladies.  Please keep up the good work.

Colorful Crocheted Donation

Thank you Lori R for this thoughtful donation of crocheted cotton washcloths and hats for our cold homeless folks here in Ohio.  Really like the bright green in the washcloths, it does make me think of Spring.......so very tired of this long, cold winter.........surely Spring will come ...sometime.  Though I fear it's a long way off.  I know the calendar says it's due on March 20th, which is only 16 days away...........but remember our friend Mr. GroundHog...6 wks longer, and really here in central Ohio it is often cold, frosty etc long after that.  But, how nice to see those bright spring colors in the washcloths.

The hats will warm 5 heads, and while I like Spring Colors, I appreciate that you choose nice darker colors for the hats.  Well done, please keep up the good work.

Donating is good for the Soul

Thank you Diana K for your on going support of our cause here on Bridge and Beyond.  Warming Ohio's Homeless is a job that just doesn't go away.  These has been an especially brutal winter and I fear even with the days on the calendar saying spring is close...it isn't by a long shot.  As I write this scheduled post we still have snow on the ground.

Our knitting and crocheting  serves several purposes.  It gives us who are blessed with a roof over our heads the ability to give back, a way to show our gratitude for what we have.  It gives us the ability to physically warm someone in need, and it gives us the ability to give someone hope for a better tomorrow.  Homemade items made from our hearts tell that cold homeless person, someone cares.  Someone cares about you and that's pretty special.

Keep your yarn close folks, the need is great.

Happy Hookers Help Ohio's Homeless

Hats and scarves crocheted by our good friend Marjorie M and her crochet club, The Happy Hookers!  Lots of nice colors in the hats.  I've got some pictured with the brim rolled up and others without out the brim up so you can see the 2 ways these hats can be worn.  This provides options for the folks, to pull it down or roll it up to have double over the ears.  Thank you ladies for joining Marjorie in the cause for our Ohio Homeless.  We appreciate your efforts.
Click to enlarge the picture so you can see the red hat with the cute ruffle edge.  The ladies will love not only being warm, but looking good.

Thank you Happy Hookers!

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
