Mitten Excitement and Deliveries

I'm excited to report that I spotted at least 3 people making mittens. YIPEE. I spotted mittens done and in the works on Bunny's, Therese, and Crochet Princess's blogs. How cool is that folks! Looking forward to their accomplishments in that area. I've started 2 pairs. The first knitted pair, I frogged; but I've not thrown in the towel. Working on a crocheted pair -- think I'm about 1/3 done with the first one, and working on a knitted pair (partway through the ribbing for the cuff on the first mitt). Both of these require counting and seem to be a little tough on my carpal tunnel so am going back and forth between them and other things. Perhaps as I get more comfortable with the pattern etc, I'll be more relaxed and that will help the carpal tunnel.

Deliveries...I've lost track of some dates, will get with Rae and see if I can back into them. But, I can tell you Jan passed off a large donation to Rae this past Thursday (which was her 4th delivery...I think), and yesterday I handed off our 5th delivery to Jan. I believe Jan might see Rae to pass those on again tomorrow. Will see if I can get dates of her deliveries to our folks under the bridge.

I know people are out there working on items and some are in route to us, all of which is very much appreciated. We had some freezing rain earlier today, trees and walks etc. covered with ice; then it warmed up just a degree or two and some of it melted. If our focast is accurate, we're expecting snow later tomorrow....so you see your thoughtful and warm donations are truly needed.

Many thanks for you all, your hooks, your needles, and most of all your caring heart.

HELP me Count!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MITTENS AND MITTENS PATTERNS NEEDED, POST PATTERNS/LINKS IF YOU'VE GOT SOME
hatsHATS #69-70-71-72-73-74-75-76-77-78-79-80-81-82-83-84-85-86-87-88-89-90 AND (kids hats) #91-92 And a hoody-scarf combo. This donation is from Molly down in Florida. These are the orange and brown hats she spoke about a few days. Variety of sizing, believe most are crocheted with double strands of yarn? Is that right Molly? Will add the two for kids (and maybe one other) to the kids bag. Thankfully we've not yet had kids living there under the bridge and lets all hope and pray we don't. But, I know these can be used at the clinic and The Homeless Shelter. Molly loves to crochet, but warm items aren't needed much down there in warm Florida, so many many thanks for your generous donation. It is needed and will be used here in cold Ohio. When I got home from work tonight at 8 ish, it was 22 and dropping. Think of those that will now be warmer! Brrrrrrrrrr
hatsWanted to photograph this close up as it doesn't show up well in the group photo above. I'm calling this a hoody-scarf. It's like a hood with attached scarf. Quite warm and will keep a lucky lady warmer for sure.
hatsThese are 2 of the smaller hats I've set aside for the kids donation. Nabbed one other from group photo too that I think will work for a child or young teen. One of the black and orange. Please add your thanks and good wishes by popping over to Molly's blog. I've link her name in several locations, and under our team listing you can click on her name and be directed to her blog.

WAIT........I'm not done counting, I need more toes and fingers. Quick someone take your shoes off to help me.
Hats #93-94-95-96-97-98-99-100!!!! Drum roll, can you believe we've hit the goal of 100? I'm raising the goal to 200, it's only January; we've lots of cold months ahead and we hit 100 sooooooooo quickly you're all to be congratulated. Please help us hit that mark for scarfs and mittens if you can. These 8 wonderful hats are knitted and crocheted by Maru. The green and gold ones are crocheted, as is the one almost solid brown hat; but the neat black and brown hat is knitted. Thanks bunches Maru. This is truly appreciated. Ding, Ding, Ding.......thats what I'm hearing cause you helped us make our first goal!!! How cool is that folks.hats Please celebrate with me, as long as you have a designated driver that is. lol Me, I'm just walking to the kitchen to poor a glass of wine and toasting you all!!!

Hugs all around.
**I should also add I worked today on some mittens; knitted...well hum, don't know bout this pattern. I'll stare it another day and decide if it's being frogged. It's more tedious than I had hoped, and I'm not convinced it's anywhere close to the right size for an adult male (even though the pattern indicated it was). I'll keep you all posted.

Better than Christmas!

crocheted hats
crocheted hat, scarf, mittens, and vest sets
I'm like a kid at Christmas each time I open a pouch or box with items made from various hands, different stitches........all with the most needed and common element...LOVE. Truly. I get giddy, hubby laughs at me. I get high on the love, the caring, the commitment my fellow stitchers have. What an AWESOME group of people.

Look at the wonderful donation that came today from Ghost. 3 Hats (#66-67-68). The one Stella is wearing in the picture has the great details of popcorn stitches I think they're called. Built in ear flaps. GREAT colors! What yarn is this Ghost?

AND her specially designed chest warmer (if you're as old as me, you might remember wearing these square type vests back in the 60's). Same cool yarn. A matching scarf... (scarf #41), and DRUM ROLL............ our first mittens (Mittens #1 # 2). She's made 2 different patterns (and is still looking for yet a better one). So someone can have mitts, vest, hat and someone else can have mitts and hat or something like that. They'll be not only warm; but stylish.

The mitten pattern I was anxious to try, was one that Ghost used and says...hum; we need another one. Will let you know if I give it a whirl or try something else. But, I'm thrilled to have our first mittens. Hands get might cold. I know. For some reason I didn't have gloves or mittens in my pockets tonight when I left work. It was cold, windy, and icy. I had to scrap the windows with bare hands. Ouch. Let's see what we can do to help these folks who are out in the elements far longer than I was with mittens and or gloves.

HUGS to all our team members, our followers, and our helpers over in yahoo groups and on Raverly. You are all the GREATEST!

HATS 51 & 52....Scarf #39

knitted hats
2 Fabulous hats, both knitted from Cheryl, beautiful work. The blue-brownish multi-colored hat is a fun and different shape to it. What do you call that Cheryl? Almost like it has ear flaps which will be nice and warm. Thanks so much for helping us.
crochet scarf
This is a really nice big scarf measures 7 inches wide and 80 inches long so one can really wrap up in this. Crocheted with simple dc. I've not seen this yarn in the stores for some time, purchased it last year. This is the 2nd scarf I've made using this yarn (might have enough left for a 3rd, must check my stash). It's Red Heart, but unsually nice, fluffy, and soft for Red Heart. It's called Zebra in the nice big super saver 244 yard skeins. Last scarf I made with this I knitted, it's interesting how differnt the color swatches look with the same yarn, knitted vs crocheted.

Plan to pass on our 5th bundle to Jan, SIL this Friday. Our friend Rae is under the weather currently. Get well SOON!

Scarf #37 & 38 and Hat # 50

crocheted hat and scarves
It just keeps getting better and better. Crafters truly have the BEST hearts! Thanks going out to Sandie again. 2 Scarfs (#37 & 38) and brown hat #50 . The multi colored scarf is made with double strands of yarn.

Again many thanks for all the help in helping this group of homeless folks here in central Ohio.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
