This is a continuation of the wonderful donation of afghans crocheted by Sheelagh S. If you didn't see the previous post, please scroll back. You don't want to miss anything. I've flipped a corner of this Polish Star Afghan so you can how different the two sides look. Both front and back are awesome. Please do click to enlarge so you can see the detail. This is quite thick and will be very warm. LOVE the colors as well as the unusual pattern. Not one I was familiar with, but perhaps you are. Sheelagh tells me the pattern comes from "Crochet Spectacular Polish Stars" (The Needlecraft Shop. The stitch pattern is available for free on Ravelry, HERE
Trying for a closer look in this picture of both front and back. The pattern link above is a pillow pattern, but the stitch...the Polish Star is there.
AND....yes, another gorgeous crocheted afghan from Sheelagh. Once again I encourage you to click on the picture to enlarge it so you can see details. The variety of stitches in this afghan is really something. It's called Lace and Bobbles from Scrap Yarn Afghans Book Two. Click here to purchase pattern on RAV.
The families who receive either of these beautiful afghans is going to be thrilled.
Many thanks Sheelagh, and please keep up the good work.

The Afghan Inspired by Poldark, Delmelza Donated
Thank you Sheelagh S for this gorgeous afghan. PLEASE click folks to enlarge, as you can always do here on the blog to see things in more detail. You really want to check out the variety of details and colors in this beautiful afghan. It's bright, it's cheery, it's large and very warm. Look at the flowers. It's made with a very large center square, has 22 large squares on the edge, has 4 sections made up of 4 smaller squares each...plus sections of striping connection the largest center squares to those 4 x 4 squares. This is a work of art!
I'm particularly excited by this afghan because I very recently posted a blog post on my personal blog, talking about the BBC movie Poldark. The name of this afghan pattern is Demelza. Before reading the intro to the pattern, the series Poldark immediately came to mind, as I had not heard the name Demelza prior to watching all 3 seasons (hoping for season 4).
Sheelagh was good enough to leave the link to the pattern on RAVELRY in her note. Which is how I learned it was indeed The Demelza I was thinking about.
Meet Ross Poldark and his wife Demelza Poldark. AND ladies, if you've not watched the series you are truly missing out!!
This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download, from Catherine Bligh's Ravelry page and was publised in Morbidsparks.
This blanket has been inspired by the character ‘Demelza’, from BBC’s Poldark (2015). I used Demelza’s colour palette and incorporated her love of flowers into each square.
So, if this has inspired you; grab your hook, your yarn, and crochet away while you watch Poldark and crochet this beautiful afghan, Demelza, who by the by is one of my favorite characters from the series.

Crocheted Granny Afghans for Homeless
See...told you there was more! If you missed yesterday's post, please please scroll back to check it out. This is the 2nd half to Sheelagh S's generous donation. LOVE this afghan. Reminds me a stained glass window. So pretty. This is nicely sized and will make a wonderful family afghan for the lucky recipients. And
Look....another afghan!! I'm thrilled we're getting such a good start with our goal for afghans. As I write this post it's mid February and believe this has us ahead of where we were at this time last year. Look at this big granny. One large granny square. This 2nd afghan is super soft, made perhaps from Lion Brand Homespun...or something similar by the feel of it. Another lucky family.
Many thanks Sheelagh for your wonderful donation. Please keep up the good work and keep your hook flying!

Hats, Socks and Afghans Aid Homeless
Thank you Sheelagh for this thought and very generous donation. What a pretty afghan. I'm drawing a blank at the moment what this method/stitch is called. Lovely colors. One of the ladies will be thrilled to get this and curl up with it. It looks so springy right now which has me hopeful, as I'm soooooooo tired of winter. Entrelac Crochet. Took me a while to think about what it was. I personally have never used this method, but did a google search for a video. Most of the video's on how to do this are 30-40 minutes long. But, I did find this shorter version........whether this is enough to get someone going or not I'm not sure, but thought I'd post in case someone wants to check it out. Click Here
She's also been busy knitting hats. Tried to turn up the brim on the far left hat so you can see it's a different color on the inside. It's reversible...and or just really warm because it's doubled. The two black hats are so cute with a brim. Please do click to enlarge so you can see the details of these hats.
Sheelagh has also included socks! Yeah, we love getting socks to warm people's feet. Nothing worse than cold, wet feet. And if you're living in the elements or spending nights in a shelter but out and about during the day waiting until the time you can go in...........a change into warm socks is heaven.
Wonderful donation....but wink wink, there's more. Do pop back in again tomorrow to see the rest of her goodies. I'm trying not to add too many pictures at a time to help the loading time of the blog.

Donating Crocheted Afghans for Homeless
Another gorgeous and warm afghan crocheted and donated by our friend Sheelagh S. Super work Sheelagh. If you scroll back a couple of post folks you'll see another portion of her generous donation.
Remember, donations are now being divided to show up better in the pictures, so you can truly admire the beautiful work of so many talented and caring crafters, to have fewer pictures per post to improve load time of the blog, and to help us have blog posts more regularly. Love both of these, so pretty, colorful and I know the family that receives the first one will be thrilled, as will the young girl or teen who receives the cute daisy ghan in girls favorite colors...pink/purple and the orange centers really make the ghan pop.
Keep up the good work, Sheelagh.

Crocheted Fair Isle Afghan Donated
WOW, look at this beautiful afghan crocheted and donated by Sheelagh S. Isn't it awesome. I love it, makes me think of when I was young and the ski sweaters we wore. This will truly make someone's day. This afghan is made in the Fair Isle design, carrying yarn as you go, so you know how nice and thick and warm it is physically. Plus, it's so beautifully done the warmth and love someone will feel when they receive this, will surely make them feel loved and know they do matter........even to the stranger that made this especially for them.
That's what's so important about we do folks. Yes we knit, we crochet, we loom, and we donate warm items that ward off the cold for those that have less, but we are gifting them something very special, a piece of us and our wishes for them to improve their state. We're telling them they matter, we're telling them we care. That's why homemade is so important in the cause.
Many thanks Sheelagh for your hard work, please keep up the good work.
This afghan is from Leasure Arts Book #1, ISBN 0-942237-24-2, 1993, titled Afghans For All Seasons. I asked because I thought you all might want to know. Thanks Sheelagh.
Please stay tuned, as you know I often break up larger donations to help us with a post a day, please stay tuned as Sheelagh was most generous and you don't want to miss anything.

Crocheted Love and Warmth for those in Need
Can't you see this paired with blue jeans, or a pair of black tights? How special with some teen or young female adult feel wearing this crocheted sweater! Thank you Sheelagh S for this thoughtful and beautiful donation.
But, wait folks, don't go away...there's more to share with you. Sheelagh has been very busy with her trusty crochet hook and yarn. Look at this gorgeous afghan! I love the changes in stitches and colors, truly a work of art. This drape across someone's sofa or favorite chair will add quite a focal point to anyone's room. I can picture now how excited the family that receives this will be in their new home. Remember folks, we donated afghans as folks transition from shelter living to their permanent homes. What better way to say good luck for the future and congratulations than an afghan.
And won't some young mother be proud to have these for her daughter's bed? Who doesn't like the traditional crocheted ripple afghan. This is sized so nicely for girls bed.
And look at this fun sweater.........told you not to go away, there's more! A teen or adult female will be warm and proud to wear this sweater, another piece of wearable art.
Holly cow Sheelagh, you've done it again. This could possibly be a tunic top over tights or jeans for a teen; maybe even a dress for a younger teen.
This proves to me, Sheelagh must not sleep. Another afghan. A fun round one that will be great for a young child or a lapghan for an adult. So many beautifully crafted donations to help so many folks in need.
Thank you Sheelagh, please please keep up the good work!

Hats, Scarves, Slippers and More to Aid Cold Homeless
Sheelagh has been very busy! She's crocheted and donated slippers, hats, and a poncho in addition to the lovely lapghan above. I had to stand back to get everything in the photo soooooooooo
wanted you to see the detail in the poncho, I've cropped it for you. Isn't this a wonderful design! It's nice and thick will be very warm for the lucky recipient. Love the colors as well.
She made some keyhold scarves also, indicating she didn't quite have enough yarn to make full length scarves. What an awesome idea! I wanted to share a close up. If you've not seen this style scarf before it has a slit, something like a button hold (only larger), where the scarf slides into itself which compensates nicely when it might otherwise be too short to wrap around and secure. Great idea.
People always enjoy looking at new or different patterns, so am including the pattern she used for her hats in case any of you are looking for a new pattern. Click HERE. I'll be adding this to our hat tab across the top of the blog. It's a well written pattern, sized wonderfully, is stretchy which makes it fit more heads, and is nice and warm with tight closed stitches...AND it has a brim! Awesome Pattern, thanks for sharing this.
Please keep up the good work Sheelagh.
It's March, and that means our focus is Men. Things needed for men, darks, solids, sturdy be that hats, scarves, mittens, or slippers. This winter is far from over. Though I am excited it's staying light a bit later; the temps are still frigid and as the writing of this scheduled post, I managed one token day without snow in my yard .......short lived reprieve, as it snowed again and next comes the freezing rain.

First Donation for 2014
Thank you Sheelagh S, our newest pair of helping hands. WOW...what an awesome start to the year, 2014. I LOVE the design in this afghan, and am most curious how you made it. Can you leave a comment telling us about the pattern? This afghan is beautiful, and the family who receives this is going to be beyond thrilled. It's nicely sized for adults or teens, or for a family. Likewise the colors are suitable for anyone. Sheelagh we're thrilled to have you join us. You can also see a pair of slippers in the picture folks. Awesome.......and thank you for tagging them with the size.
This sunburst style afghan will make some little girl and or female teen super happy. Don't these bright cheery colors bring a smile to your face. And normally sun isn't coming through my windows...while it might muck up the colors a bit....love having the sun shine through, even if just for a short while.
This afghan has lots of neat texture. I don't know what stitch or pattern to call this. Anyone out there know? Again bright cheery colors to put a smile on someone's face as they curl up in the love it was made with.
This looks just like a quilt to me, no doubt it does to you all. What an interesting pattern. Sheelagh apparently doesn't sleep, or crochets in her sleep. How in the world were you able to make so many beautiful afghans. WOW...I'm truly impressed.
Not sure you can see the texture on this one folks without clicking the picture to enlarge. LOVE these colors and so will the lucky person/family who receives it. Everyone loves blue regardless of age and gender. I believe this is probably made with front and back post double or triple crochets?
Flowers...........who doesn't love flowers, and don't they make you think of spring and summer and better weather? They sure do me. As I'm typing this post (remember most post are typed and scheduled to post later), we're getting the rain, which followed the snow, which is to be followed by record breaking low temperatures. Many businesses have already indicated they will be cold across the nation. So, thinking spring, flowers, and pretty colors is foremost in my mind.
Beautiful work Sheelagh. Welcome to our group, look forward to seeing you here often on Bridge and Beyond.
These afghans are a perfect way to begin our years worth of donations. Afghans were one of the items we had fewer of in the year 2013 then 2012 (please scroll back to yesterday's post). Thank you Sheelagh for starting us out on such good footing.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?
I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.
Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
