Knitted and Crocheted Afghans for Homeless Families

LOVE the colors in the soft warm afghan.  Knitted in the corner to corner method (like Grandma's favorite dishcloth pattern).  Such a pretty color combination, it makes me think of the ocean.  This knitted afghan is being donated by our long time and always generous supporter, Sandra R from the sunny state of Florida.
AND so it this earthy color combination.  This too is the corner to corner style Some beige, off white, gray's and very light purple/lavender.  Sandra luckily escaped the fears of the most recent hurricane, Dorian as it didn't hit Florida as predicted.  What a huge relief.  We're grateful you and your family and friends are safe and out of harms way.
Don't blink twice folks.  Yes, this is another corner to corner knitted afghan from our friend Sandra R.  The colors look quite similar to the one above but aren't the same.  There's some blue in this one and more tan, I think.  This gives you an idea of the size of the ghans.  I was having trouble laying them out due to my space at the time I did the photo's, thus some are folded a bit.
Now, if you're like me; you've decided by this time our friend Sandra R from Florida doesn't sleep.  You've also decided like me, she knits and or crochets all night long.  Yes...this is a 4th afghan.  This is the ever popular ripple and is crocheted.  Does she eat or sleep?  I don't know, but she's been very very busy with her yarn and hooks, and needles.  This ripple is a full size afghan, the corner to corner are a bit more like a large lapghan I think.  All will be loved, and all will keep someone warm.  I LOVE LOVE the colors in this one.
AND....hope you're still with me.  This is a shell stitch design crocheted afghan of blues and tans.  Great colors for men or women.  I am truly in awe of how much she has been able to produce.  Thinking about it makes my arthritis hurt; but am so happy she's able to do this for Bridge and Beyond and all those we support

If you're counting, this if her 6th afghan.  This too is crocheted using the same shell stitch as above but a different color combination.  Ok, earlier I said/wondered aloud if she sleeps or eats,...well know I wonder if she even takes bathroom breaks.  Her hook and needles must be like the Ever Ready Bunny...they keep going and going and going............
AND going!.  Similar colors to blue and tanish shell design, but this afghan is crocheted using good old double crochet.

As of the publishing of this post, these afghans have already been delivered to Homeless Families Foundation and are probably already making people in need happy.  Posts are written and scheduled to post...thus when you read this post........the donations will have already been delivered.

Many many thanks Sandra R for you long time support of Bridge and Beyond, your huge heart in helping homeless in need, and in your phenomenal talents.

Hats, Scarves, Mittens oh My

Thank you Sandra R for this very generous and thoughtful donation of knitted and crocheted goodies to aid the homeless through Bridge and Beyond.  As you can see, Sandra has been very very busy with yarn and her hooks and needles.  To the left above you have knitted corner to corner cotton washcloths.  The corner to corner design is Grandma's favorite and always a HUGE hit.  She's also crocheted scarves.  The scarves above are folded to the very left of the dark burgundy scarf.  AND the scarf to it's right is gray, two shades of purple/lavedar and turquoise.......lovely color combo.
But, as you can see.........there's more.  Sandra R sent two stuffed pouches.  This pouch has scarves and hats........and wait for it......drum roll........Mittens!!!!  She's knitted a variety of styles and sizes with her hats, truly something for everyone.  The hats, as always, are nicely tagged with size, thank you Sandra.  AND I know the volunteers at the various shelters also thank you for that.

AND Mittens........truly worth saying a 2nd time.  I do get very excited when we get mittens, because well, there not something all of us can make.  So kudos to you Sandra.  Please keep making all these lovely warm items that you don't need down there in warm Florida.

Sunny Florida Donation, Part II

Sorry this picture is a bit blurry, I must have moved.  This crocheted and knitted donation is a continuation of the donation in the previous post from our good friend and long time supporter, Sandra R from the sunny state of Florida.  LOVE the colors she's chosen for the scarves, all good for men or women...teen or adult.  And the stitch she's used is nice and puffy and warm...very solid.  She's included some personal care items also........AND two knitted cotton wash cloths.

AND
A wonderful knitted basket weave stitch afghan.  I love the texture this stitch provides.  AND please look (remember to click to enlarge any picture) at the colors...very nice indeed.  I believe this is a chunky yarn by the feel of it.  Very soft, very nice and I know will be received with great excitement.

Sandra does beautiful work, I just can't figure out when she sleeps!  Many thanks Sandra, and as always keep up the good work and know what a difference you've made in lives of many in need through your donations here at Bridge and Beyond.

Knitting and Crocheting and Winding up Donations for 2018

Thank you Sandra R!  Your donation is the last official donation of the year 2018.  Lovely, as always.  Hats and matching mitts.  And yes...I am clapping and dancing, like always when we get mittens.  And truly Sandra's are fantastic.  Look what wonderful colors she's chosen for hats and mittens!  And as always, many thanks for tagging the hats and mittens with size.  (nudge nudge...some hats still come without sizes and it really slows things down for the volunteers, so please folks, tag your hats, mittens and slippers).
AND she's also included scarves, suitable for men and women in a variety of sizes and colors!

Many thanks Sandra for your on going support of Ohio's homeless here on Bridge and Beyond.

The Lost Scarf Picture is Found

YIPPEE!!  Two posts ago I mentioned that the picture showing Sandra R's scarves had been lost.  It's since been found.  Somehow when transferring from phone to computer this picture ended up in the wrong file folder.  How two pictures taken the same day and transferred the same day, at the same time could end up in two different folders......I am clueless.  I have always transferred to my Yarn/Bridge folder and somehow this ended up in a totally unrelated folder.

The Good is now you all get to see what I saw, how nice Sandra's scarves all.  Nice, thick, warm and colorful.  AND...did you notice the two tone brown scarf?  She's again used that method first introduced to us by Karen S. Doubled Ended Crochet.  Click for the post with u-tube video describing this method of crocheting known by so many names. You might have heard of Cro-hooking, Crochenit...or Reversible Tunisian.

So am thrilled the picture's been found and I can share the picture with you.  Sandra's has been a long time, generous supporter here on Bridge and Beyond.  Thank you Sandra and please keep up the good work.  You make a difference.

Knitted Log Cabin Afghan Donated

GORGEOUS!!!  I love this style afghan.  It's the log cabin style.  Our good friend Sandra R has knitted several in this style for us before.  And they are always so wonderfullly done.  These colors are so nice together.  I really love the look of this one and know it will be thrilling to whomever receives this.  It's perfect in size and colors to work for men, women, and or a family!

Sandra also included 5 scarves, but sadly something happened to the picture, so I can't share them with you.  I know there were 5 based on her note and mine here by the computer, but the picture.........no clue what happened to it.  I can't retake the photo, because things have already been delivered.

With my broken foot it had been longer than I like since making rounds.  So hubby loaded up his car (explorer holds more than my car), and took me the other day during his lunch break.  I am now able to move around better, but am still limited and carrying back and forth and trying to walk while carrying  aren't things I'm able to do well, just yet.

As always Sandra, many many thanks for your generosity and your ongoing support of Bridge and Beyond and Ohio's Homeless in Need.

Knitted Warmth and Love Help Homeless

Knitted Hats, scarves and mittens from our wonderful friend, Sandra R!  I always get super excited when we get mittens and Sandra's are particularly nice.  Lots of colors, different sizes...something warm lots of pairs of cold hands.  Also notice, some of the hats match the mitten colors to make nice sets.

Sandra always remembers to tag the hats and mitten with size which is such a huge plus.  It saves me tremendous time and also those volunteers at the shelters.  When things can be quickly separated they get to those in need quicker.

Many thanks Sandra for your knitting skills and your on going support of Ohio's Homeless here on Bridge and Beyond.

Gorgeous Hand Knits for the Homeless

Woot Woot, look at this marvelous donation of scarves, mittens and hats and also a cotton washcloth.  What a wonderful and very generous donation.  I swear I don't think our good friend Sandra R from Florida ever sleeps.  She knits and crochets constantly!  What a wonderful mix of goodies.

Sandra you are truly appreciated for your kind heart and your very gifted hands by everyone involved with Bridge and Beyond.  And, as I noted a few posts back...see the sunshine, lol.  She always packs some sunshine in from Florida with her donations.  We get so few days with sunshine here, it's greatly appreciated.  The pictures were taken on the same day folks, it's just that she had so much I made it two posts to not over whelm one post with pictures.  Improves the loading time of the page.

Thank you, Sandra.  As always, please keep up the good work!

Crocheted Colorful Scarves and Afghans Aid Ohio's Homeless

Love love love, this fun colorful cheery afghan fresh off the hook of our dear friend, Sandra R from sunny Florida.  Simple stripes and double crochet, proves our afghans don't need to be fancy stitches to be awesome, or pretty or warm and inviting.  And...did you notice that sun on the afghan.  Sandra is always so good to box up sun sunshine for us with her donations, lol.  Seriously....do take note.  The sun does NOT come in throw my windows often in the winter so this was a special day!!  The afghan is cozy, warm, and very cherry.  It's suitable in size and color for either a male or female.  Thank you Sandra.
But, you can see.......she's not done!  Not Sandra.  Look at this fun colorful scarves.  I know there's a name for this type of yarn, but I can't think of it at the moment.  It's not variegated as it's really a blending of two colors....help someone.  What is this called.  And Sandra what type of yarn is it?  Would love to buy some.........cause I really really need more yarn, lol.  But, seriously, I love how this is a solid color, but not.

****Hey folks, I'm still wanting to change the default font on this blog, but haven't found where to do it.  It used to be more straight forward when you picked a theme or color, but for the life of me...I can't find where to do.  So each blog post I write I pick one and it's beginning to get annoying.  If someone knows how to change it permanently....please please sing out.

Thank you Sandra for your awesome donation, and as always keep up the good work.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
