Donating Colorful Knitted Hats off the Loom

Thank you Sandie from Florida!  Hats and hats and hats!  Sandie has knitted these hats of many colors on her loom.  Love it when our friends in sunshine states make us nice warm goodies for our cold homeless here in Ohio.  Lots of heads will be warmed because of this thoughtful donation.  18 heads, as a matter of fact will be warmer.  Many thanks Sandie and please keep up the good work.

Folks if you missed yesterday's cute video about yarn and our yarn stashes...please scroll back and have a look.  It's quite humerus.

You all may have noticed it's been awhile since we've had a post every day, that's because donations are down.  Typically they do fall off during the summer months and I try to keep things active with other information here; but even with that this summer we had fairly large gaps of no new posts.  Hoping with Labor Day Weekend here, which signals for most of us back to school, end of summer, fall and football; that people will welcome yarn back into their daily activities.

I'd like to push once again for people to visit, to read, and to COMMENT.  Those are all things you can do even when time is short to knit or crochet.  It does indeed help the blog and it's placement.  If you don't comment, we don't know that you've visited, or read new information.  You do not need to be a blogger to comment.  You do not need to be computer savvy to leave a comment.  It's fast and it's easy.  PLEASE, take time to read the tabs of the items you're making so the items you make and donate comply with the guidelines.

Happy Labor Day one and all, if you're traveling be safe

Donations From The SunShine State

The warmth in Florida pretty much negates the need for big warm scarves there, so our long time friend, Sandie continues to support our cause with 2 nice large scarves. Thank you Sandie for your on going support, and...as of the writing of this scheduled post....thank you for including some sunshine. Though it's quite cool today, it is at least sunny. History tell us we here in Ohio have several more weeks before we hit the all clear for frost at night warnings...something to be celebrated for sure.

Donating Warmth from Florida

Our good friend, Sandie crocheted two scarves and pretty sure she tried to pack some sunshine in the box from Florida along with her thoughtful donation. She's very cooperative like that. Unfortunately, I think the tape wasn't tight enough and sun leaked out. Still though we have these warm crocheted scarves! Many thanks Sandie for your on going support, we appreciate it and your efforts........try harder next time, please and thanks! Seriously folks, the day I wrote and scheduled this post, was bitter. The wind chill was something. I had a hard time holding the car on the road, the wind was so strong. I came home and fixed a nice cup of hot tea. I'm so grateful to have a roof over my head, and so grateful for so many of you that help those that don't.

Please keep up the good work.

Take a look at the 3 lists of helping hands here on the blog, the list of those who donate who have blogs, the list of those who have a facebook, RAV, Hive, Crochetville page who donate, and the list of those who donate who don't blog or have profile pages (and or haven't sent them to me). Are listed? If so, is there a state listed next to your name? If not, please leave a comment telling me what state your from so it can be added to the map. We want you and your state represented. Scroll to the bottom of the blog, take a look at the map. Would love to add to it. Look at the percentage, maybe we can grow it? Did you not find your name on any of the 3 lists, but you've donated? PLEASE take a look at the 4th list...the unidentified donations list. Click on the list and you'll see the blog post where items were received without notes, without my being able to match to someone who blogs, or belongs to one of the groups I do, or someone in my emails. Please help us complete these lists. Maybe, you have a facebook page I don't have listed? Send me your link, maybe you've started blogging after you donated, let's get it added.

Lovely Loomed Hats

knitted loomed hatsSandie in Florida has done it again with her creative flare for looming lovely colorful, warm, and fun hats for our folks in need here in Ohio. I love how she makes her loomed hats double thickness so they're nice and warm, have good stretch and awesome colors in her designs.

I seem to be having some blog issues of late folks, so my apologize for this post not appearing until now. I typically write and schedule posts, and often have 2 weeks going in the que. Lately, I've been having trouble with scheduled posts not airing when they're suppose to. I don't know if I'm having issues or blogger is having issues. Or perhaps it's a combination of both. Soooo, I'll double my efforts to check the dates on the scheduler thingy and hope things improve.

Our good friend Sandie from Florida is having a much deserved vacation is Scotland! How awesome is that. I hope you're having a wonderful time, and look forward to some pictures on your return. Travel safe, and as always thank you for your wonderful donation and on going support of Ohio's Homeless.

Once again, she's made fabulous hats with such interesting color combinations. Thanks bunches Sandie. We've had another cold spell here, even though it's June we've hit record lows for this time of year so I know those living outdoors in the elements are still wearing hats and scarves at night.

5 more days for our June cotton cloth focus, then will swing into July which will focus on squares. Please check out the directions, working calendar, and frequently asked questions in the tabs across the top of the blog.

Stunning Hats do more then Warm the Homeless

knitted hats for homelessLOOK, at these 10 truly stunning hats knitted with double yarn on her loom our good friend Sandie in Florida made! Thanks for packaging up sun and fun from your state of Florida to our cold in need here in Ohio. Yes, it's beginning to warm up here; but we still have all the windows closed, flannel sheets still on the bed, and it's not time to put away jackets ...yet.

Hats, Fabulous

Eight, fabulous double yarn loomed hats! Such nice colors, so nice and soft, and double yarn to make them really nice and warm.............what could be better? Thank you Sandie in Sunny Florida for your ongoing support and thoughtful donation. It is needed, and very much appreciated.

The colors are more vivid then the picture shows. The hat in the upper right is Scarlet and Gray, Buckeye Colors, which the picture really doesn't show well.

From the Sunny State of Florida

Our good friend Sandie down there in the sunny State of Florida had quite a venture trying to get this box to us.  She and I communicated several times.  The post office really had issues.  Delivered this to the wrong address in another city, then returned it to her.  In the meantime, she kept busy and made a few more things and a month later a new box came to me with 23 loomed hats and a scarf.  Many thanks Sandie for your stick to it-ness.  This isn't the first time the post office has played havoc with our donations.  Though the last time I had such an issue was trying to mail to another Ohio city when we had a contest and I was sending yarn.  It too, took about a month to resolve.  Soooooooo frustrating.

Sandie's hats, as you can are a nice variety of colors and sizes which is awesome.  Keep up the good work Sandie, and next time...could you please pack up some sunshine to add to your box.  Pretty please with sugar on it.

Folks we're into another month, with another focus.  Have you read about April Showers?  Please do, check the sidebar.  Thanks.

**Reminders:
Please include a note with your donation with a means of getting in touch with you, be it your email ady, your blog url, your RAV, HIVE, or Facebook ID/link.

Please check the lists, is your state listed with your name?  If not, please include it here in the comments so I can get it added.

Please visit frequently, spend time, leave comments, let us know you were here.

Here's a Hat, What a Hat

loomed hatsIf you're as old as me, you might remember a song from The Mickey Mouse Club...Here's a hat, what a hat, you're an honorary musketeer. That song, those lyrics popped into my head as I was posting this picture of the 10 fabulous hats from our friend Sandie in Florida (remember we have multiple Sandie's, Sandy's). These hats are nice and heavy, so will be warm for our homeless folks. She's used 2 strands of yarn together (I believe) and loomed this hats. Very nicely made. Many thanks Sandie for your on going support and this thoughtful donation.

Warming Homeless from the Sunny State of Florida

knitted hats for homelessFun and fabulous! Look at these great color combination's. Twelve knit hats. Sandie's been supporting us from the sunny state of Florida where fabulous items like she creates just really aren't needed. Thank You! We're glad to have you, now if only you could figure out a way to box up some of your sunshine at the same time. Particularly when we have those miserable cold, wet, gray and or snowy days. Work on it, will ya? LOL, there must be a way for you to add that to your mix. I'm sure our Homeless would appreciate some of your sunshine, knit one purl two, sunshine over! lol
shawlLook at this wonderful plaid shawl. I think it's woven? Is that right Sandie? This will be a nice item I think for one of our ladies at Mission. Since some of them are battered women, nothing like a special item to help them feel better about themselves. It's beautiful and the colors are so pretty and fall like. She says this is her first ever....I think you did fantastic Sandie. Many thanks for your continued support.

Thank You Sandie in Florida

*****Only 6 posts left before we see who the winner of the contest is, but YOU still have time to enter, CLICK TO READ HOW*****

Sandie in Florida found us through our listing on knittingforcharity.org. YIPPEE. We've gotten help from that listing before which makes me feel good.

Sandie loomed 15 hats of varies sizes, and very cool colors. You're gonna have to take my word for how cool they were, cause I had a picture snafu. No clue where my picture went. It was on the camera, but it didn't get transferred correctly to the computer. Meanwhile one I had previously posted, and deleted is somehow still on the card??? Argh.

I was able with the variety of sizes to put some hats in the bags for the kids at the clinic and some for the homeless folks under the bridge. The items have already been passed on, so therefore I'm not able to get another photo.

Many thanks Sandie for your thoughtful donation. We're happy to have you join us and look forward to more of your generous donations.

Edited to add
SAVED, thank you Sandie. I sent an email asking if she had taken a picture and thankfully she did so here's Sandie's picture of her awesome hats.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
