Afghans Warm those in Need

Thank you Pat C for afghan donation!  What a pretty and very colorful afghan.  This very much looks like a quilt design to me.  Very pretty.  The lady that receives this is going to be thrilled.  Cuddling up under this will surely put a smile on her face.
This 2nd afghan sorta reminds me of the log cabin design; but it might have a different name, as I believe too is a traditional quilt design. Not sure the colors show up quite right in this picture.  The smallest squares are red, while the rectangles are blue (something between navy and bright blue) and lavender.  Fun design.  I think this could work for a male as well as a female.

PLEASE keep checking in, as I will continue to show donations coming in, and provide listings of charities you might like to support after operations cease here on Bridge and Beyond come Dec .31.  Please remember the last date to mail donations is the 24th of Dec.

Some of the charities aid the homeless, some pregnant women, some kids transitioning out of foster care, and native Americans on Pine Ridge Reservation.  Locations vary, so you might find one of the charities listed is in your area, or close to you like a border state; making postage perhaps less costly.

Below is the listing with a very brief description, but PLEASE click on the links to see details about what they accept, what fiber to use, who benefits from the charity and where to mail items.

Afghans for Pine Ridge (Ravelry Group completed Afghans with options for 6-8- and 12 inch squares)

Red Scarf Project (benefits kids transitioning out of foster care

Warm Up American (Benefits homeless and others in need, rectangles, hats and scarves, or make your own full afghan).

StreetKnit (Benefits homeless in Oklahoma, accepts afghans, lapghans, hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, socks (not store bought); as well as yarn and knitting needles.

Homeless Families Foundation and Faith Mission (benefits homeless for those that are local and can deliver donations in Columbus, Ohio.

Salvation Knitters (Ravelry Group)(benefits two charities in Lansing Michigan, that focus on pregnant mothers and their babies, getting them off the streets.)

Welcome Blankets, Lapghans for Refugees (knitted, crocheted, sewn and or quilted)

Just 2 more days to mail your final donations to Bridge and Beyond.

Knitting Aids Homeless Here at Bridge and Beyond

Thank you Pat C for this awesome donation of knitted goodies!  Pat has been very busy indeed.  Look at the nice collection of corner to corner knitted cotton washcloths...in the always famous Grandma's favorite pattern.  Lots of different colors.

And hats, mittens and a scarf.  Please click to enlarge the picture so you can see the details.  The hats are a variety of sizes and colors, and styles.  Something for everyone.

But.............. scroll down please
More hats and mittens.  Again a wide range of styles, colors, and sizes.  All the hats and mittens are nicely tagged with size.  Special thank you.  The hats that look long and skinny are super stretchy and so will fit a variety of head sizes.  Be sure and notice the gray in top right corner with a beautiful cable.  So well done.

Drum roll, this donation puts us over 100% of our goal for hats!!  Woot Woot!!  That's exciting, and look how we're doing on the mitten goal...this donation puts us slightly over 92%.  You know how excited I get when we get mittens.

Folks I've been posting information about Bridge and Beyond since Nov 1st when the announcement was made about operations ceasing for Bridge and Beyond come Dec 31st of the year.  If you've missed reading those post, please scroll back to Nov 1 nd come forward.

We started small and grew.  And with our growth we were able to help more people in more shelters.  Over our 13 years we've accomplished quite a bit for a true grass roots charity with everyone pulling together.  Many thanks to you all.

New Helping Hands Aid The Homeless

Thank you Pat C for this awesome donation of knitted goodies.  Please say hi and welcome Pat C, our newest pair of helping hands.  As you can those helping hands have been very very busy indeed.

Pat has knitted hats, scarves, and mittens.  You know I'm dancing in the streets...as I always do when we get a donation of mittens.  Please click to enlarge the picture so you can see the details.  There are sets with matching hats and mittens, there are sets with matching mittens, hats and scarves, and there are sets with matching hats and scarves; plus others.  All nicely tagged with size!!  Fabulous.  There's such a nice color selection as well.  Truly something for everyone in need.

Pat also included a large package of socks in her donation.  With this dozen socks are sock numbers continue to climb, past our goal.  I'm very excited by that.  Warm, dry feet is a wonderful thing for everyone, and can be the difference between freezing or getting sick.

Take a look at our numbers for mittens!  We're almost at 50% there, another very exciting statistic when we add these 9 pairs.

Many thanks for your generous donation Pat, sure hope to see you here often on Bridge and Beyond.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
