Hats and Scarves for Ohio's Homeless

Crocheted hats and scarves from Marie Anne include a very pretty matching green set.  Click the picture to enlarge so you can the detail/texture in the green hat.  Very nice.  Many thanks Marie Anne for your continued support of our cause, we surely appreciate your hard work.

Marie Anne has started a facebook group to collect 6 inch squares to assemble into afghans for the grieving families from Sandy Hook.  If you're able to help her with making squares and or assembling afghans, please check out the details here.  Such a sad situation.

**Edited on Dec 28th...please hold making squares for above Facebook Group.  The future of the group is unknown, as Sandy Hook has asked that people please stop sending gifts.  How wonderful it is they've received more then they can handle.  Shows how caring everyone is.  **

**If you're making and donating an afghan for Bridge and Beyond, please remember to launder and block....it really finishes them.  They lay nicer, are softer, and you're able to remove hair and oils when you launder.  You truly can block acrylic.  I wash in cold and delicate and when I lay them out to dry, shape them.  Sometimes you need a tug here and then to even up the edges**

Donation from Ohio's Historic Capital

Sorry this picture is a bit blurry folks, I must have moved? 13 crocheted hats and 3 scarves all from the skilled hands of our friend down in Ross County Ohio, MarieAnne. Chillicothe was Ohio's first capital city, so thought it was pretty cool to have a donation from it's historic past. As you can see, she's got a variety of sizes, colors, and styles...........fabulous! Something for everyone here. I especially like how nice and big she made the scarves. And look at that cute pink hat!!! Warm and stylish. Many thanks Marie Anne for your continued support, and skilled hands! Please keep up the good work.

Just 2 more days folks in our Square focus for the month of December. Quick, run what you've got to the post office. In 2 days, we move onto our January focus which is mittens! As you know, we collect all items all year long (except squares); the focus is to call attention to the biggest need at the time. Squares are not collected all year long (helps me in assembly). If you have squares at other times, please email me at sandycrochet@gmail.com. Also, please email me if you have squares that don't quite meet the requirments listed. Thanks folks for your help.

Ohioan helping fellow Ohioans

crocheted granny squares
Our newest pair of helping hands comes from Marie Anne, a fellow Ohioan. Welcome and thank you for these lovely crocheted granny squares, (14). Fun, cheery colors and interesting square pattern. Looking forward to working these in with others to design more afghans to warm those at Faith Mission.

Marie Anne is a fellow blogger, so please hop over to her blog and say hello; it's listed in the blog log.

We are very close to our final count of squares collected for our special "Give a Square" project, so hope you'll check back. In addition, I also hope to have final number for The Rainbow Project, very soon.

If you've not had a chance to read about our latest project, Toasty Tootsies, please do. There's a tab across the top of the blog and a blog badge in the sidebar. Please feel free to spread the word, blog about it, tweet about it, facebook it, and by all means would love to have you add the badge to your blog.

Anyone able to share a pattern for Toasty Tootsie's?

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
