Donation from Puerto Rico Helps Ohio's Homeless
WOW....this blog post should have been published some time back and somehow got buried in the drafts here on my blogger and never published. So sorry to be delayed sharing this awesome donation of hats and scarves from our very good friend, Damaris in Puerto Rico. Look at the variety of sizes and colors!!
Please do click to enlarge the photo so you can see the details. I've folded the brim up on a few hats so you could see how it can be worn that way and or pulled down, depending on the weather and or head size. They are beautifully made with contrasting colors. Double knit so they will be extra warm. Likewise the scarves are as well. AND so nicely sized that people can really wrap up in the scarves.
Many many thanks Damaris for your on going support of Bridge and Beyond and your very generous donation. You truly are making a difference.

A Very Special Donation for the Homeless
Puerto Rico, an area hit so very very hard from two major hurricanes back in September has Rock Stars, like Da'maris. Not only did she endure these devastating disasters to her country, but she suffered person injury with a fall and fractured femur. She required surgery and rehab and is currently walking with a cane. So sorry she has suffered so much, both personally and emotional with the damage to her country. But, she is a rock star for sure. She had knitted this lovely and thoughtful donation for Bridge and Beyond; but was unable to send until now. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. When I read your note, I had tears in my eyes.
Am thrilled to know you are improving each and everyday, and am very grateful for your huge heart and willingness to help others. People like you, Rock Stars, make this world a better place.
Please take care of yourself, keep up the good work.
**The counts on our progress bars are current, the percentages not quite. I'll not be figure the percentages with each update of numbers, but will be updating again next at least by the 20th. I have in fact made a reminder not on my cell phone for the 20th of each month to do percentages. If we're at a milestone, or I just have extra time I may do it more often...but certainly at that scheduled time.

Fabulous Donation from Puerto Rico Helps Ohio's Homeless
This wonderful donation is all the way from Puerto Rico from our good friend Damaris. The scarves are double thickness so are wonderfully warm and super soft. Likewise the hats which can be reversible. Damaris has knitted these on a knitting machine which is how you get the tube effect for both and the ability to make them double. Look how nice the hats are with contrasting brims...please click the picture to see the details. The hats will fit a variety of head sizes because they are nice and stretchy.
Beautifully done Damaris. Thank you for your generosity. Please keep up the good work.
**For anyone new to the blog, the counting below maybe confusing. When 2016 began, we started with the number of items donated the previous year and are counting down in hopes of hitting and surpasses the number of items donated last year.**

Look at these awesome hats! These are knit double which makes for a super nice warm hat and coordinating brim. Thank you DaMaris from Puerto Rico. They could also be reversible. Look at these fabulous warm colors Damaris choose for her scarves. These are beautifully crocheted, very nice and soft, and a wonderful size. Not only do they look warm because of the color, they are warm, by design too! AND..you all know how I love team work and believe we couldn't get the job at hand done without it. Damaris's friend Nancy O. paid the postage all the way from Puerto Rico so these 2 scarves could be donated to Ohio's Homeless and others in need.
Thank you Damaris for your on going support of our cause and for enlisting the help of your friend Nancy, who's helped us before with donations. And thank you Nancy, hope to see you both here on Bridge and Beyond often.

International Donation!!
Lovely purple crocheted set of mittens, hat, and scarf donated by Damaris all the way from Puerto Rico! AWESOME. Very nicely made, love the way you trimmed it also Damaris. Thank you so much for your thoughtful donation. I could hardly wait to open the box when I realized where it came from. I was sooooooooooo excited I told everyone I came in contact with that day.
2011 Donations:
Scarves 355+1=356
Hats 735+1=736
Mittens 142+1=143
Socks 135
Squares 515
Rain Ponchos 84
Cotton Washcloths 324
Sweaters/Poncho's 7
Slippers 90
Afghans 40 (2 sent to our friends at Pine Street)
Misc Items I've not counted misc items like all the personal care items, the neck warmers, head bands or yarn etc.
**Reminders:
Include a note with your donation
Do not tie and cut when changing yarn, leave several inches and weave in your ends
Avoid open lacy stitches, general rule of thumb if you can poke your finger throw the stitches, they aren't as warm as they could be.
Avoid white as much as possible, shows dirt too easily
Lots of info in FAQ and Before you donate
Did you know you can click on the tags of any post and be taken to previous posts from either that individual (if you click on their name), or other posts that have those words...ie. mittens, hats, scarves, socks, etc.? That way you can always look around the blog and see other items these folks have made, or see other similar items.
The message behind a hand made item, be it knitted, crocheted or loomed is powerful. The message that someone you didn't know took time to make something especially for you is awesome, is powerful, is important. That's why we donated hand made items. We keep them physical warm...yes; but we offer hope because of the specialness with a hand made item. Thank you for all you do. Keep up the good work folks.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?
I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.
Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
