Water in DoorWays, Sprays Homeless

Certainly
A-Z Challenge = W=Water Showers and Washcloths
Water and Washcloths go together.  Rather then tell the story in words, I've added this video.  When I first saw the clip, it was just what happened, not the interview and I was appalled that a church would do such a thing.  Seeing it, in more detail it's still quite troubling that they did this.  I see they have a problem, but don't believe this was a very Christian way to solve it.  Now with the church being embarrassed, the practice has ended, let's hope they find a solution for their problem that is more charitable.

We knit and crochet cotton washcloths which are huge hit everyone we donate.  They're used by those living out in the elements, by those in the shelters, and those that transition from shelters to permanent housing.  They're used both as washcloth and as a dishcloth when they're packed in the Welcome Home Packs given to those as they move into their permanent housing situation.

If you missed some of the A-Z Challenge posts, please scroll back to yesterday, Sunday where you'll find a complete list to date.  Only 3 more days/letters left XY and Z.

All donations regardless of size and number are valued. All donations are appreciated. The Power of One is awesome, and when we work together The Power of One becomes The Power of Many.

  1. I watched the video. I can see needles and stuff being left behind being a big problem but, how they handled it was wrong. It worked liked he said but, it's wrong. I'm sure there are children that go that church and they wouldn't want them getting a hold of any of that. I do hope they come up with a solution to the problem. Will be praying for them.

    1. Right you are Bunny. It's a problem and at first I didn't see their perspective...I just reacted about how horrible it was; but with more information you can see how the problem was multi-layered. If only this problem of homelessness could be solved.

  2. What is church for if not to offer shelter to those in need? Instead of washing them away they should be providing a safe place for them to sleep.

    1. Sad isn't it. Apparently they let them camp around the building, but felt this protected their building. Glad they don't do it anymore, but I wonder how many other places do?

  3. This is such a shame for a church to do such a thing. We need to protect those less fortunate then us. It makes me angry. They should be finding a solution to the homelessness instead of hurting them. This is so unchristian like.

  6. Sad and a decision I bet they wished they hadn't made, especially with all the publicity it generated.

  7. As the video pointed out, the people taking shelter in the churches alcoves are not the problem, it’s what was left behind.
But, come on now. Treating fellow human beings that way? NO. There is a better way.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
