Shopping for Socks

Many thanks, Sue F and Sherry. Both ladies sent checks awhile back to help me with my sock shopping excursions. Putting the 3 of us together I was able to pick up these nice heavy socks the other day, notice the bonus! Each package normally has 6 pairs of socks, but they had a special for a 7th pair of socks free. AND, they were on sale at Kohl's so I was able to buy a 3rd package...sweet, 21 pairs of warmer dryer feet. Appreciate your help ladies. This is another example of what we do as a team. The money we each put in goes farther when we three pool our money...Thank you all.

Take a look at the 3 lists of helping hands here on the blog, the list of those who donate who have blogs, the list of those who have a facebook, RAV, Hive, Crochetville page who donate, and the list of those who donate who don't blog or have profile pages (and or haven't sent them to me). Are you listed? If so, is there a state listed next to your name? If not, please leave a comment telling me what state your from so it can be added to the map. We want you and your state represented. Scroll to the bottom of the blog, take a look at the map. Would love to add to it. Look at the percentage, maybe we can grow it? Did you not find your name on any of the 3 lists, but you've donated? PLEASE take a look at the 4th list...the unidentified donations list. Click on the list and you'll see the blog post where items were received without notes, without my being able to match to someone who blogs, or belongs to one of the groups I do, or someone in my emails. Sock Money AWESOME

Thank you Sherri I, your efforts to help us with socks is fantastic. I'll use this next time I'm out to pick up more socks. Folks Sherri does something I'd like to share...probably have before, but it's worth repeating. She keeps a containing that she throws her nickels/change into. A little here, a little there. It's amazing how it adds up and when it reaches a given amount....she takes it to the bank and writes a check. I love this daily plan. Most of us have change which makes our purses heavy, or pockets for you men.....toss it in a container. Have a pot for all of it, or pick a specific thing......pennies (while they'll still make them), nickels, dimes.........whatever. Pick a dollar amount you're comfortable with as your goal. When it reaches that......roll, bank, and write a check.

Many thanks Sherri for your on going support. Very much appreciated.

crocheted donations for homelessOur good friend AnneMarie has done it again with has, slippers, scarves, and mittens. A variety of sizes and a variety of colors. Awesome work AnneMarie.

socks and ponchosAND, 31 more packages of ponchos and 6 dozen more pairs of socks! She sent 3 boxes and as I was opening and photographing here and there to catch up from being out of town, I didn't get all her's together. You may have seen the first installment of socks and rain poncho's HERE.

hotpacksAND 43 packages of hot packs, most good for up to 8 hours according to the packages and some good for up to 18 hours according to the packages. Awesome donation, and really awesome idea. I must look the next time I'm at Sam's and see if I can get something like this in bulk?

Many many thanks AnneMarie for your thoughtful donation, and your continued support for our folks in need here in Ohio. Please keep up the good work.

Day 28th for our Jack Otis Memorial Month. I would still be interested in sharing any stories you all might have regarding homelessness having a face. Please emaill me if you have a story to share.

December's focus will be squares. Please read details regarding size and color in the side bar or across the top of the blog.

**When someone asks you why take time to make something special for someone you don't know, I think the perfect answer is, "Hope is powerful, giving someone a special hand made item made special for them, gives them Hope."

I tried to get the photo showing your the check without giving away important info regarding the check and person etc. Stay tuned for pictures of the socks, they are forth coming.

Socks are needed all year long folks, even in the hot months, wet feet are uncomfortable and unhealthy.

YIPPEE!!!!

knitted scarves and money
We are making headway folks on all fronts. A nice card with $$ to purchase socks came while I was out of town from Cowgirl (Chris). I think I'll be able to get another dozen socks with this. Many thanks!

And a package has been sitting at the post office (insufficient postage, it wasn't lost; but apparently the notice telling me to pick it up was). Sarah, I'm not sure who you are here on the net; Sarah from Hawaii, lots of thanks for the 2 scarfs. Both are knitted. These are scarfs #66 and 67

Sing out if you're Sarah or know who she is, I like to make sure I know who's who.

Keep those hooks and needles flying.

It's still quite cold here much is still needed.
**I should add, unpacking and doing laundry today but plan to go shopping tomorrow for the socks!

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
