Warm Dry Feet Help the Homeless

Thank you Sarah S for this generous donation to aid the Homeless.  She's included scarves, cotton washcloths, socks and rain poncho's.  Please click to enlarge to see details.  As you'll notice the rain poncho's are nicely packaged either in zip lock bags or a little pouch. Great idea!!

WOW..check out the socks folks, 48 pairs!  48 pairs of feet are going to be very very happy, dry and warmer.  Such a necessary item all year long.  She's been busy with her hook also, some nice scarves in great solid colors suitable for men or women.  AND she's also crocheted and donated the ever popular cotton washcloths.  Again in colors suitable for men or women.

**Back up folks and take a look at our graphs/goals for socks!  This is amazing and awesome.  we're at 96% of our goal already.  I don't think we've ever done that.  Let's keep the momentum going.  There have been years when we've had higher sock goals, but join me in clapping please.  Pretty exciting.

Many thanks Sarah S.  Your on going support of Bridge and Beyond and Ohio's homeless is so appreciated by many.  Keep up the good work!!

Grandma and Granddaughter Team Up to aid the Homeless

Thank you Janis F for this thoughtful donation of crocheted goodies.  Janet has hats of varying sizes here to fit a variety of head sizes, AND she's added nice size tags which helps everyone.  Helps those at the shelters get items to the right people and helps those receiving them get them easier and quicker.  She's included personal items, a package of those combo glove/mittens, and socks, and a totebag which will be handy for folks trying to keep their few things together ...whether they are living in the elements, or spending nights at a shelter.

I want to also thank Janis's granddaughter who's in the 10th grade.  Her granddaughter helps her with washing, and tagging some of the crocheted items, and uses her own money to purchase some of the personal care items.  Love seeing kids/teens get involved with helping others.  Well done, and what a nice team effort.

As always, please click the picture to enlarge it so you can see the details.  I really like the textured stitches Janis used in her hats and it's nice to have a color variety as well.

Many thanks Janis and granddaughter, please keep up the good work and know you've made an important difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

Afghans, A Special Donation for Homeless Moving into Permanent Housing

Oh my...thought I had posted and counted all of Marsha M's afghans/lapghans; but found I still had a few pictures on my phone.  Scrolled through all the posts from the beginning of this year (as the date the photo's were taken was early January), and realized I had completely missed sharing these with you.  Love this color combination.  This afghan is worked side to side.  Colors will work well for a young male, or teen or adult woman, I think.
Another ghan worked side to side in what reminds me of beach colors.  Oh my, beach colors...as of the typing and scheduling of this post to publish it was only 12 degrees here, so the idea of beach colors sure puts a smile on my face.  The day I typed this post there were 31 days until spring; but because it's in que to be published; by the time you read this it's even less.  Now that should bring a smile to your face.  Come on Spring!  Teen or an adult woman will love this.

And the 3rd ghan is also worked side to side and I think these colors are perhaps dark enough to be suitable for a male or female?  So with these 3 ghans Marsha's count for the year 2021 is 10, and her count for the year 2020 was 30, yes....she donated 40 afghans.  If you read my first post some time back you might remember I wasn't sure if I could get them all in my car; but I did manage with bags in the back end, the back seat and on the floor in the back seat.

This donation was spread out because it took me some time to launder 40 afghans and lay them out to block.  I always ask you all to do that before sending them to me; but I agreed to do this, as she is a primary care giver and certainly needed a break.

Many thanks Marsha!

Crocheted Scarves Always Help Those in Need

Thank you Sandie P for this wonderful donation of crocheted scarves for Ohio's Homeless.  As always, remember you can always click on photo's to enlarge and see details.  You really need to do that with this picture of Sandie's scarves so you can see the texture she has created with her variety of stitches.  She has some fun colored scarves, some nice solid colored scarves, and some with gradient type coloring.  What a nice mix.

Scarves can make such a difference in how warm someone is.  They can be wrapped around multiple times, or pulled up to cover ones nose, or wrapped inside a coat for added chest warm.  Scarves are a true must in Ohio's cold winters.  Today when I awoke it was 4...4 is really cold.  I wear scarves inside most of the winter, so you know how needed they are for folks living out in the elements.  Or those who need to spend the day outdoors before they can get a bed inside at a shelter.

We have had more snow, and colder temps this winter it seems to me than we've had in the last couple of years.  Though hubby and I wonder if because we're getting older, we just notice the cold more?

Many thanks Sandie for your long time support of Bridge and Beyond, and please keep up the good work.  Normally I would want you to send us some warmth, but weather reports show me you're too are experiencing a colder than normal winter.

Potpourri of Sorts for The Homeless

While Potpourri really applies to flowers, petals ..a mix thereof, it was the first word that came to mind when I looked at this generous donation of LOTS of different things.  PLEASE, click so you can see everything.

Our friend Laura E has been busy both shopping and with yarn.  She has knitted, cotton washcloths, hats, and scarves.  Also please note how she's tagged everything with size.....AND nicely tied the sets of matching hats and scarves.  Putting them together makes a nice gift set, I think.......don't you?

She has shopped and included a huge variety of personal care items: toothbrushes, toothpaste, toothbrush holders, soap, razors, wipes, brandades, and female sanitation products.  Really an awesome variety.

AND Socks.  Nothing worse in my opinion than cold wet feet.  And wet feet happen all year long, be it rain in the summer, or freezing rain, sleet and or snow in the winter.  So having socks......clean, dry socks to change into can be a huge improvement in the individuals living circumstance, be they someone living in the elements or someone getting nights here and there in a shelter.

Many thanks Laura, please keep up the good work and know what a difference...an important difference you have made.

Boxes of Donations for Bridge and Beyond to Help the Homeless

Boxes......In my previous post you see the picture of all the personal care items and coffee pouches I collected on my recent trip.......well, here are the boxes the post office and my neighbor collected for me while away of your thoughtful and generous donations.

For security reasons I don't post that I will be away, but rest assured your goodies that arrive when I am away are very well cared for.

Those of you who've been visiting and donating to Bridge and Beyond for awhile may remember this from many years ago.

This pyramid was built for me by a previous neighbor who's young son loved to keep an eye on the house and report with glee that another box for me had arrived.  Back in those days, I didn't even stop the mail.  He was quite young, and is now in high school, or the end of middle school (can't quite remember).  He and his Dad made a thing of the donations.  It was always fun to come home and see what arrangement they had made.  It was entertaining for him to march to my house (right next door) daily and count the boxes, and arrange them.  Sometimes they would send me a picture.  Fun memories.  Just thought I'd re-share

At any rate the first picture has all been opened, counted, and photographed.  So please stay tuned for donations from: Janis F, Anna W, Laura E, Sandie P, Gabriella, and Sarah S.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
