Sunshine and More Donated from Florida for Ohio's Homeless

Please join me in being excited...see those mittens?  Of course you do, and hats, and scarves from our good friend always generous supporter, Sandra R from the sunny state of Florida.  Always wonderful to get a box of sunshine from Sandra.  Great Colors and a nice mix of sizes to warm lots of folks in need.
But...as you see, that was only one pouch, there are more.
And another awesome corner to corner afghan.  Love these colors, I find it very restful.  Sandra do you eat, and sleep?  Your crochet hook must be smokin at times with the amount of stuff you're able to get done.  Plus the knitting of the mittens and hats etc.  All are wonderful.  As always, thank you for all you do.  We're thrilled to have you on board here at Bridge and Beyond helping Ohio's Homeless in need.

Loomed Wrist Warmers Help Ohio's Homeless

Wanted to do a follow up on a previous post, regarding loomed wrist warmers.  Please click the above link to take you to that post where you can see the wrist warmers I'm talking about.  What's particularly nice about them is the length.  They go well up the arm, therefore providing extra warms.  Likewise they cover a larger portion of the hand than some wrist warmers do.  Both of these are real pluses.  I asked Anna W to share the pattern she used to make her wonderful loomed knitted writs warmers.  She provided the link for this awesome how to u-tube video and here's the link to the pattern on a blog.

So many of you use those looms to make hats, and scarves, I wanted to share this with you.  Hope it's of help.

Crocheting for Bridge and Beyond Helps Homeless

Sorry the picture turned out so yellowish.  I even tried editing it, but the light was so bad the day this was taken I had every light in the house on...thus is looks odd and.  However this lovely warm crocheted afghan was brown and orange and was made and donated by our good friend Karen S.  Karen I love it, I love the boldness of it and how the color really work for anyone; but particularly some of our men folk.
Karen has also been busy looming several hats and crocheting an awesome scarf to match any of the 3 hats.  Thanks for remembering to tag the hats with size (nudge nudge to some of you...please remember to do this).

AND, she's also included 7 nice cotton crocheted washcloths.  I love this variegated yarn, not sure I've come across this one before.  Again, colors work for anyone, but are nicely geared male!

Thank you Karen for your hard work and on going dedication to helping Bridge and Beyond help Ohio's Homeless in Need.

Please keep up the good work.

Crocheted Chest Warmer

Thank you Sandie P from Louisiana for this thoughtful donation.  Folks Sandie is one of our most long term supporters of Bridge and Beyond.  She and I have known each other on line through crochet groups for MANY years!!  This is a crocheted chest warmer.  Many years ago a mutual friend to Sandie P and I, Ghost made and donated a chest warmer.  Sandie, as you might know is a Master Crocheter and often tests patterns that others write.  Thus is the case with this chest warmer.

Our friend, Ghost is smiling from above no doubt that this many years she is still so fondly remembered.  Sandie and I have discussed how this item is easy to make and quite versatile...in that you could leave as is above, or add buttons like Ghost did (follow link above), or use ties to join the garment.  It certainly adds a layer of warm and makes sizing less of an issue.

Anyone wanting to make it really simple...how bout shoe strings for ties?  Thank you Sandie for your work on this project and for bouncing ideas about how it could be used with me.  Much Appreciated.  Sandie's blog has lots of very helpful information folks, so please pop over for a visit.

As always, please keep up the good work and know YOU do make a difference.

Sets of Hats, Scarves and Wrist Warmer Warm Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Anna W for this awesome and very generous donation.  As you can see, Anna has been very busy.  She's crocheted scarves and knitted hats and wrist warmers to match on a loom.  At least from looking that's my best guess.  I'm pretty sure the hats are made on those wonderful looms and it looks like the same detailing in the writ warmers.  She's made such nice sets...look how the scarves, warmers and hats make complete sets.  What's particularly nice about her writ warmers is the length.  These are truly nice and big.  I put a pair on and they come from about 4 inches up your arm to about where my knuckles bend.  Now of course they'll fit a larger person a bit differently, but...they are amply sized so will fit nicely even for a much larger person and really help to keep them warm, but at the same time leaving their fingers free.  AND her color choices are wonderful for either a man or a woman.

And here she's made some smaller hats, more scarves and wrist warmers.  Such a nice selection.  Something to warm lots of folks in need.

Many thanks Anna and please keep up the good work.

**Not sure why the picture (the 2nd one) isn't properly centered.  Must be some wacky blog thing going on.  I updated the donation numbers for this donation as well as the next couple that you'll see in the coming days.  Looks like the only goal we may make this year is the afghan goal.  With less than a month less in the calendar year, our next closet goal is that for scarves, where we're currently at 49%.  Don't think we've got time to pull that across the line to reach 100%

Crocheting to Help Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Gayle T for this thoughtful donation of crocheted goodies.  Gayle has crocheted two scarves in nice dark solids, which are always a winner...and she's also crocheted cotton washcloths.    I really like the green and white variegated ones, very pretty.  Reminds of Spring and I've already begun the count down for spring...so not a winter person.

We've had lots of rain, some freezing rain, some snow and a good many days of below freezing temperatures...which is why, even though it's only Dec 2nd, I'm looking forward and counting down to Spring already.  Check out my new count down widget here on the blog.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
