Knitting and Crocheting for Homeless

Our good friend, Karen S has been very busy with her crochet hook crafting wonderful warm scarves using her special technique.  I LOVE the way they look.  What's particularly cool with this donation is, she made two of the blue and gray...so, I've laid them out so you can truly see the light and dark side to fully appreciate it.

Additionally, she's been very busy with her loom and knitted 6 hats, some of which match the scarves to make sets.  She always takes the time to make these cute size tags for her hats.  The beauty of her method is...you don't have to purchase special tags.  Small pieces of colored paper, cute with pinking shears and tied on with yarn scraps.

I stress the tags because we still get hats, mittens, and slippers without size tags and would really like again to request that all hats, slippers, and mittens have size tags attached.  This takes less time for the maker, then for all the volunteers to guess when sorting.

Many thanks Karen, and as always, please keep up the good work.

Thank you Peggy F for this thoughtful donation of a crocheted scarf.  Peggy is our newest pair of helping hands.  AND, we're always thrilled to have more helping hands here on Bridge and Beyond to help with the mission of warming homeless people in need.  As always, you can click any picture here on the blog to see it in more detail...and larger.  I know I often need to that just to make it easier on my eyes.   When you click on this picture, you'll see the variation in the color of the scarf and how pretty it is.  It is not a solid color.

The scarf is a wonderful size so someone can wrap it around more than once to keep warmer.  Thank you for joining us here on Bridge and Beyond, Peggy.  We hope to see you here often.

Please keep up the good work and know you're making a difference.

Teddy Bear Puppets Give Comfort and Aid to Children in Need

Thank you Frances M from New Jersey, The Garden State.  I was surprised to see New Jersey known as The Garden State, as I would tend to think of southern states having more flowers.......but hey, still interesting.  Frances has taken the knitting and crochet pattern posted here some time back and made it her own.  Look at these adorable teddy bear puppets.  So very cute.  I'm sure these will be a nice small feature for a child spending the night in a shelter.  The beauty of them being small is that when families move about, which they do; the little puppet can easily come along.  I am sure these will comfort to 3 children in need.

Frances has also included the every popular cotton washcloths that have so many purposes in the shelters, with those living outdoors in the elements; as well as those transitioning into permanent housing.

Thank you Frances, please keep up the good work.

New Helping Hands Crochet for Homeless

Thank you Donna P, our newest pair of helping hands for this thoughtful donation of crocheted warmth.  Donna has been busy with her crochet hook.  She crocheted 2 scarves sized nicely for two young teenage girls.  She's added 5 hats of various sizes to warm heads of more teens and ladies, and has crocheted always popular cotton wash cloths.

Please click to enlarge folks to see her cute size tags she's attached.  Bright colored gift paper folded.  Very cleaver way to tag hats with size.  She's also included size on scarves, though that isn't necessary; it will be helpful.

Welcome to Bridge and Beyond, Donna.  We hope to see you here often.

Knitted Warmth and Love Help Homeless

Knitted Hats, scarves and mittens from our wonderful friend, Sandra R!  I always get super excited when we get mittens and Sandra's are particularly nice.  Lots of colors, different sizes...something warm lots of pairs of cold hands.  Also notice, some of the hats match the mitten colors to make nice sets.

Sandra always remembers to tag the hats and mitten with size which is such a huge plus.  It saves me tremendous time and also those volunteers at the shelters.  When things can be quickly separated they get to those in need quicker.

Many thanks Sandra for your knitting skills and your on going support of Ohio's Homeless here on Bridge and Beyond.

Colorful Crocheted Scarves Help HOmeless

What fun colorful scarves!  Thank you Tammy M for this thoughtful donation.  I am particularly fond of the 2 tone gray and black scarf.  Love the design and it's a color that works well for anyone...any age or any gender.  These scarves are sized nicely for teens, I think.  They will enjoy the team look to your scarves. also.

Thank you for your generosity and thoughtfulness.  Hope to see you here often on Bridge and Beyond, and please do keep up the good work.

These scarves are nice and warm and we still have lots of nasty weather here in Central Ohio.  I'm cold most mornings here in the house even.  This has been a long winter.  Come on Spring.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
