Donating Bombas Socks Helps Homeless

Thank you Bruce B from Colorado.  Bruce has graciously donated these awesome Bambas Socks.  There 8 very nice pairs.  They are very warm and nice and soft, and the special part about this 8 pair of socks he's donated to Bridge and Beyond for the Homeless.  Bombas has also donated 8 pair of socks to a local shelter.  This buy one donate one program is part of the mission of the company.  So, he was able to double his donation and help homeless in need in two different areas at the same time.  How cool is that!

Bruce is a fellow Fitbit Friend from a group called 60 Plus Trackers and Chatters.  We spur each other on to get our daily steps and have through the beauty of Fitbit really gotten acquainted with a great bunch of folks.

Helping Homeless Through Knitting and Crocheting

 Thank you x 2 Karen S.  This first donation is 2 nice dark scarves and 15 cotton washcloths, (though you can't tell how many because they are stacked in the picture.  She also included some personal care items in this pouch.  But....wait, there's more

There was a 2nd pouch, a very generous donation from our friend Karen, more cotton washcloths (13) and 3 really nice knitted hats.  These hats are super warm, made with double yarn; as they are knitted on one of those cool round looms.  Very nice colors also Karen for men folk.

It's been awhile since I've talked about all the ways these wonderful cotton washcloths (knitted or crocheted) are used.  They're used by the folks living out in the elements as washcloths and dishcloths, there used at the shelters for folks when they first enter as washcloths along with personal care items, AND they're used as both dishcloths and washcloths in welcome home packets when folks transition from shelter living to their permanent housing situation.

Crocheted Hats and Scarves help Homeless

Thank you Patty C for this wonderful donation of crocheted hats to warm Ohio's Homeless.  What a nice variety of sizes and colors she's included in her crocheted donation.  She's also included 3 crocheted scarves.

Hats and scarves are used here in Ohio probably 11 months out of 12.  Even in the hot summer months, nights can be cool and  damp and a scarf and hat can truly make a person more comfortable, when living out in the elements.  Homeless are often more cold than we are, even during warmer months, because their nutrition isn't good, and food is fuel that helps warm the body.  So please, even as you see things warm up a bit folks....keep up your needle work.  Remember, we here at Bridge and Beyond knit and crochet and donate all year long, not just when it's nasty out.
