Chunky Red Scarf to Warm the Homeless

Finished another scarf about 6.5 feet long and 6 inches wide. This one is knitted with Lion Brand Chunky, knit up pretty fast since it's so chunky on size 15 needles. Think this is large enough for men, but looks more ladylike to me? What do you think? I love how thick and plush it feels. Nice tight stitches so it should be super warm.

Though I spend the bulk of my time working on afghans from your donated squares, I do a fair amount of scarves, when I need something that travels, something I can work on at work during lunch etc. I do often edge squares in those settings; but find I really need to be home to assemble them, particularly if I'm working on one where the squares are lots of different sizes, soooooooo scarves are the first thing that comes to mind.

Donating Dry Feet

Many thanks Diana K for donating 30 dry feet. Think how uncomfortable and cold feet get outdoors with a variety of weather. Being able to change into something dry makes all the difference in the world. Even in warm weather feet get cold and wet and make people miserable. Diana these footies are so very much appreciated.

Having something dry to change into for your feet is so very important, thank you for the donation. I can even see how these footies might be used over socks even for added warmth.

**Contest going strong, remember the more you chat, the better your chances are to win**

Crocheted Donations from Minnesota, The North Star State

Crocheted donations from our good friend and long time supported Liz (minnesoda on the ville). As always, awesome. Look at her fabulous squares, most of which I've already designed a ghan from. She's donated 5 knitted cotton cloths (nicely sized for men, special thanks!) 3 scarves, a hat, and 29 squares. As I was laying out her donation for Ohio's homeless and noticed she had alot of squares that went together, I decided to go ahead and play with them. Made several arrangements when I came up with this traditional diagonal, counting how many of each color their were etc.

By the time you read this scheduled post, the ghan is well on it's way; as I began assembly soon there after. Stay turned for the finished product. I'm unsure what I want to call this afghan. As you know, I name our afghans, initially I thought this looked like fall foliage, and was in fact going to name it that.......then the next time I looked at it, garden patches came to mind. Thoughts? Which name do you think fits better, and or do you have another suggestion?

**Asked this when it was in the works over on Sandy's Space and got a great suggestion, Bountiful Harvest, thank you hakucho for the suggestion. So...I think that described both feelings I had and it now has a name. Bountiful Harvest.**

11 More days in our contest, is your name is at least 1 of the 3 hats? Details for the contest available can be found on the blog post for Feb 14th, and or by clicking on the badge in the sidebar.

What state are you from? Is your state listed on our map of donators? Is your state listed with your name on our blog list, or the list of those who donate who don't have a blog, or those who donate and have a facebook, ravelry, hive page etc? PLEASE check. Would love to identify where everyone is from, still quite a few on the list without a state accompanying their name. Would also love to add more states to our map, it's been a good long while since we've been able to add to it. Are you from: Conn, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Miss, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, or Utah? If you're from one of those states and you've donated, please leave a comment so we can correct it. Currently those states have no one representing them. Are you from one of those states and knit or crochet....please join us and represent your state.

Helping hands from Virginia Donates Scarves

Helping hands from Virginia donates scarves for cold homeless folks in Ohio....how sweet is that folks. I love how people from all over (please see the map at the bottom of the blog that shows which states have people who've donated), give of themselves with their knitting and their crocheting. They share they skills, they share their hearts and it does indeed make a difference. It physically warms those in need certainly; but it does far more then that. It gives people hope, hope for a better future. They know someone, somewhere took time to make something special just for them. And that's why we focus on handmade..........it makes it that much more special. Many thanks for our newest pair of helping hands, Karen B from Virginia. We're thrilled you joined us, and hope to see you here often. Please keep up the good work.

Day 2 of March, remember our focus is scarves. Please click the tab across the top of the blog to see details for size and color requirements. Scarves are need by Adults both male and female, for teens who size requirements would be the same as adults, and school age children.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
