A Generous Donation from Texas to Aid Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Donna F. for this thoughtful warm donation of hand knits and crocheted items.  Donna has been busy folks.  Take a look, She's crocheted hats,  slippers and scarves!  And she's knitted the every popular corner to corner cotton washcloth (grandma's favorite).

Something here for everyone with a good variety of sizes and colors.  Special thanks too, Donna for tagging your hats and slippers with size.  That really aids the volunteers at the shelters get things to the right people in a timely manner.

Donna is our newest pair of helping hands from Texas.  So happy to have you join us.  You're timing is spot on, as temps here are now getting quite cool at night.  I had to put on a jacket and head band the other day when mowing the yard it was so cool.  Leaves are starting to change, so I fear the warmer temps are gone and that makes the need greater for our homeless folks.

Thank you to all who help with their knitting and crocheting skills.  You all make such a difference.

And thank you Donna for joining us!  Hope to see you here often on Bridge and Beyond.

Hats, and Cotton Washcloths Help the Homeless

Thank you Laura E for this thoughtful donation of knitted goodies.  Laura has included hats, cotton washcloths, and a matching hat and scarf set (see upper left corner, they are tied nicely together).

Special thanks Laura for tagging your hats with size, that helps everyone out and saves tremendous time for the many volunteers that work at the shelter.  That in turn get's items into the hands of those in need quicker.

The cotton washcloths of course have many purposes and are always well received.  You've got a nice variety of colors.  I'm partial to the one in the middle on the right hand side that has the orangey and green combination.  Pretty colors.

As always keep up the good work and know you've made an important difference in the lives of many in need.

Scarves for the Homeless

Thank you Sandie P for this nice donation of fun colored crocheted scarves.  The ladies will like them I'm sure.  Hey folks, please click to enlarge so you can see the fun textures Sandie got with her variety of stitches.  Lots of interest.  AND check out the matching hat and scarf with the textures!!

The scarves are large enough to wrap up in which will make folks warmer, YIPPEE!!  Trying to decide which color combination I like best, and I think it might be the one on the far left...the gray and turquoise mix.

AND the two nice solid colors, dark burgundy and green will be perfect for the men folk.

Many thanks Sandie P for your long time support of Bridge and Beyond.  Stay safe, I've been seeing how Covid has really taken hold in your state of Louisiana.  Stay in and keep your yarn company, lol; and of course your hook busy.

Thank you AnneMarie D from New York for this awesome donation.   I think there will be lots of happy feet in the near future.  Seriously, look at this...48 pairs of socks!  How nice is that!  AND look at all the wonderful hats, lots of different sizes, something to fit every head size.  A couple of different hat styles.  Please click to enlarge the picture so you can see what I'm talking about.  AND, every hat is nicely tagged with the size.   Lots of ice darker colors...PERFECT!
AND look at these cute soap pouches!  Aside from being colorful, what a clever idea.  If you can't read the card that is attached, it's S.A.C.K.  soapsack.com The card says each sack is made by a volunteer and comes with soap.  You can use the sack as a washcloth.  It's tell them it's made from cotton and is therefore oft.    I think this would make for a cute gift idea as well, though it's intent is to aid those in shelters.  She's also included crocheted cotton washcloths.

The webpage has patterns for both knitting or crocheting the sacks for the soap.

Many thanks AnneMarie for this thoughtful and generous donation.  Please keep up the good work.

**Folks I'm counting the sacks/pouches as a washcloth so these 20 sacks and the 6 cloths are being counting as 26**

Cotton Washcloths for the Homeless

Thank you Saralee W, our newest pair of helping hands for this thoughtful donation.  Look at all the fun colors in these cotton washcloths, some knitted, and some crocheted.  There are a few variegated cloths in colors I've not seen before.  It's fun to see new mixtures.  Think my favorite is the multi-colored with orange, turquoise, and green in the lower right corner.  I don't think I've seen that variegated before.

Please click to enlarge the picture so you can see the details.  Some of these are "granny's favorite" corner to corner pattern, but there are a couple of other deigns as well.  Please check them out.

Welcome to the Group, Saralee.  We hope to see you here often on Bridge and Beyond.  Please keep up the good work.

Donation from Florida Aids Ohio's Homeless

This is the continuation of our good Friend, Sandra R from Florida's donation.  If you missed the afghans, please scroll to the previous post.  You can see Sandra has been very very busy with her crochet hook, and knitting needles.  She's crocheted 3 scarves, 8 super soft and warm knitted hats, and knitted cotton washcloths (see both pictures).  She's included personal care items in her donation and a carry tote to aid the homeless containing their goods.
The cotton washcloths are knitted in the always popular granny's favorite design, knitted corner to corner, and they are colors that work well for men or women.  Well done, Sandra.

I've found a work around for the problem of not being able to edit the graphs.  It's a bit cumbersome, but at least I can get our counts.  If the problem continues, I may have to nix it and go back to the old way of typing it in the side bar.  Fingers crossed that's it's just a temporary gliche.  Will keep you posted on that.  AND speaking of that, take a look at the graph for scarves...with this donation, we've just inched over the 50% mark!  Awesome folks!!

As always Sandra, please keep up the good work and know it really matters to many.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
