Knitting and Crocheting Helps Homeless

Thank you Emily K for this awesome donation.  Emily has knitted and crocheted a nice variety of goodies here, hats, scarves, mittens, and fingerless gloves/wrist warmers.  She's also included some personal care items in her donation for Ohio's Homeless.  Partial to the green and blue goodies, always great colors for either men or women.

Many thanks Emily, please keep up the good work.  We here at Bridge and Beyond appreciate you and I know the folks receiving your warm goodies do as well.

Yes, it's Spring...yes the grass has turned green, and yes we have flowers popping up....But, it's still cold, and wet and people are very much still in need folks, so please keep your hands busy knitting and crocheting for others.

Green Valley Afghan

Green Valley nearing completion.  Only a few squares to edge and much of the joining has been done.  You might note a few squares have moved... do that sometimes when I stare at it and think...hey maybe that one over there would be better.  LOL  Do any of you do that when you're putting together an afghan?  Since this picture was taken the square on the left you see partially edged has been finished and the tangerine one next to it.

We're still having frost at night, but indeed the grass is greening up alot with flowers of varying colors showing up well by contrast, much like this afghan.

Keep knitting and crocheting folks, those without a roof over their heads still need us.

Scarves Keep Homeless Warmer

Thank you Marie-Jeanne for this thoughtful donation of crocheted and knitted scarves.  What a nice variety of colors to please and warm 7 more homeless people in need.  Marie-Jeanne is our newest pair of helping hands.  So glad you found us Marie-Jeanne and hope to see you here often on Bridge and Beyond.

We're still having winter coat weather many days and nights, frost, high winds and lots of rain so warm items are still very much needed by those less fortunate than us.  Some folks are living out in the elements, some in temporary shelters who still spend the bulk of their day outside.  So please folks, keep your hands busy with hook, yarn, and needles.  The need continues.

Thank you again Marie-Jeanne, and welcome to Bridge and Beyond.

Knitted Hat with Cables Warms Homeless

Thank you friend of the homeless for this very nice knitted hat.  Folks please click to see the nice details of these cables.  The color of the hat was a nice brown that didn't show up correctly in this photo.  This donation came from a charity group on RAV and while I know the name of skilled knitter, she has asked to be anonymous for the group.  I do require people not be anonymous with me for many reasons that address problems I've had over the last 8-9 years; but have no problem with helping hands being anonymous here on the blog.

Many thanks for the lovely hat, the person wearing it is warmed, both physically and emotionally.

Hope to see you again here on Bridge and Beyond, please keep up the good work of helping the Homeless of Central Ohio.

Crocheted Hats and Scarves Needed for Homeless

Thank you Patty C for this donation of blue hats and scarves.  Who doesn't like blue?  It's a color that works for men, women, and children.  It's a nice darker color that won't show the dirt and so is always well received.  Patty's made a variety of hat sizes to warm 8 more people in need.  Very nice, please keep up the good work Patty.

Folks, it was only 28 degrees this am when I got up, so while the calendar says it's Spring.........please don't be fooled, it's still cold and the need for warm items like hats and scarves has not gone away.  So please stay busy...just like our fellow Ohioan, Patty and keep your yarn hand.

Donations for Homeless

Thank you Theresa A for this thoughtful donation of goodies to aid the homeless and others in need here in Central Ohio.  Quite a nice assortment of personal care items, cotton washcloths, socks, rain poncho's and hot pads.  Folks click to see the difference.  Notice the 5 pads on the left (blue-green, red-white and blue, mixed blue and brown, solid green and mixed red-white-brown), they are double thickness and will make a nice addition to the welcome packs Homeless Families puts together for families moving from shelter living into a permanent housing situation.

AND, also note in the lower right corner, the little blue and white packages.  Folks this is a really good idea....I never thought of it, but Theresa has included 2 emergency blankets!  I'm going to talk to Rae, our friend who feeds the homeless on Sat mornings to ask if this is something I should add to our list of things to collect.  I think it sounds like a real winner.  Good thinking on your part Theresa.  Stay tuned folks.

Many thanks Theresa, please keep up the good work.  Many people will benefit from your thoughtfulness!

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
