Crocheted Fair Isle Afghan Donated

WOW, look at this beautiful afghan crocheted and donated by Sheelagh S.  Isn't it awesome.  I love it, makes me think of when I was young and the ski sweaters we wore.  This will truly make someone's day.  This afghan is made in the Fair Isle design, carrying yarn as you go, so you know how nice and thick and warm it is physically.  Plus, it's so beautifully done the warmth and love someone will feel when they receive this, will surely make them feel loved and know they do matter........even to the stranger that made this especially for them.

That's what's so important about we do folks.  Yes we knit, we crochet, we loom, and we donate warm items that ward off the cold for those that have less, but we are gifting them something very special, a piece of us and our wishes for them to improve their state.  We're telling them they matter, we're telling them we care.  That's why homemade is so important in the cause.

Many thanks Sheelagh for your hard work, please keep up the good work.

This afghan is from Leasure Arts Book #1, ISBN 0-942237-24-2, 1993, titled Afghans For All Seasons.  I asked because I thought you all might want to know.  Thanks Sheelagh.
Please stay tuned, as you know I often break up larger donations to help us with a post a day, please stay tuned as Sheelagh was most generous and you don't want to miss anything.

Arrests for Feeding The Homeless

Am trying to add the video and story to this picture.  Another very sad example of things that are wrong.  This is yet another city in Florida that arrests and fines citizens trying to feed those in need.  I posted recently that Ft. Lauderdale arrested a 90+ year old man, and this is another sad tail from Daytona Beach in Florida.

Just returned from an out of state wedding and vacation and collected boxes at the post office from Sheelagh S, RoseMarie, Dianne L, Sally B, Marsha M, and Sandra R.  Additionally I received drop offs from Jenny C, and Tristi K.  All these donations will be photographed and blog posts forthcoming.  Please stay tuned.  Thank you ladies.

If the embedded link doesn't work, please try to do a search and read about this sad and growing situation of lawmakers and the police that make the arrest of people doing good.

Mittens for Homeless Hands

Someone put the music on, cause you know where I am.  Yep...if you've been here before you know I am dancing in the street with glee.  Those who don't want to join me dancing can clap along the side lines.  lol  I LOVE having folks make and donate mittens...cold hands are miserable and mittens aren't something easy for lots of us to make so ...that's why I dance in the street when we get mittens donated.
These lovely mittens for men, women, and children are beautifully knitted from our good friend and long time supporter, Sandra R from the sunny state of Florida.  She has mad mitten knitting skills folks.  How I wish she could come sit next to me and others who want to learn and teach us.

AWESOME donation Sandra, please keep up the good work.  Extra thanks too for tagging and joining every pair with size.  Truly you ROCK!

AND...she packed some sunshine in her box too, how cool is that!
**Please check in daily folks, and remember larger donations are separated in order to have fewer pictures per post, fewer items in a picture so you can see the lovely items better, and to help us with a blog post daily......which you've heard me say repeatedly helps the blogs placement, which in turn helps us reach more helping hands in order to warm more people in need.**

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
