Helping Ohio's Homeless is a Year Long Job

Thank you Rose Marie for your thoughtful donation and your on going support for Ohio's Homeless.  It is very much appreciated.  You can see Rose Marie from Tennessee has included lots of personal care type items also: toothbrushes, tissue and hand wipes!  Hand wipes...what a great idea.  Hadn't thought about those and am anxious to hear what our friend Rae says about them, so will keep you all posted.

Thanks Rose Marie for the idea.  Seems logical living outdoors having water available all the time could be a real problem.

Keep up the good work.

Crocheted Donations from New York

Look at this awesome black and gray afghan!  I love this design, haven't made this pattern in a long time and had forgotten how much I liked it.  I think it looks sorta houndstoothy...is that a word?  LOL.  Thank you to our good friend Annemarie in New York for this beautiful afghan.  Whomever ends up with this crocheted afghan in their Welcome Home Package is going to be thrilled.
AND she's crocheted and donated 6 awesome scarves (one is a keyhole style), plus a hat.  I LOVE this hat.  Click to enlarge so you can see the spirals.  Annemarie....what pattern did you use?

As always, your work is lovely, many thanks for your on going support.  Please keep up the good work.
  • Please remember folks to tag ALL hats with size, rather then my trying to guess and or the volunteers at the various shelters trying to guess.
  •  Please also remember to wash and block all afghans before mailing.  It removes hair, odors, oil and dust......and it makes the ghan so much more finished.  I always suggest not drying ghans in the dryer...though I know most yarn says it can be done.  They get fuzzy, and you can't blog them in the dryer.  Please lay them out in a pet free area, you almost always need to help shape it, thus the blocking.
  • Please remember we're not currently collecting squares

Blue Jay Afghan to be Donated

Here's another completed afghan from your donated squares, Blue Jay is it's name.  It came together nicely using light blue to edge and join with a mix of 3 different blues for the border.

Here you can see the before and after above.   I think the finished picture is more true to it's color.  Sometimes lighting makes such a difference, plus the above picture is as it's being blocked, so it's just a tad damp.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
