Thank you Karen S for this wonderful donation of crocheted warm hats and scarves.  Absolutely LOVE the brown.  Brown is such a great color for the men.  Special thanks too for tagging the hats with size.  Folks if you click to enlarge the picture you'll see Karen's hand made size tags....so cute!  I assume it's card stock, or perhaps even index card that has been cut with either a dye or pinking shears?

Karen has also crocheted 5 cotton washcloths, that are always so well received.  The cotton washcloths has so many uses.

If you're new to reading this blog, Bridge and Beyond (dedicated to helping homeless through knitting and crocheting), you may not be familiar with this type of crochet that Karen uses in her scarves.  There are apparently many different names for it, Double Ended Crochet, Cro-hooking, Reversible Tunisian and more.  It's been a while since I posted a video on how Karen accomplishes this interesting light and dark side to the scarves...as well as interesting texture.  I posted about it HEREPlease have a look.

Thank you Karen for your on going support of Bridge and Beyond and our Homeless Friends in Needs.  We all appreciate it, and you.

**The counts on our progress bars are current, the percentages not quite.  I'll not be figure the percentages with each update of numbers, but will be updating again next at least by the 20th.  I have in fact made a reminder not on my cell phone for the 20th of each month to do percentages.  If we're at a milestone, or I just have extra time I may do it more often...but certainly at that scheduled time.**

Knitted Hats and Scarves for the Homeless

Thank you Karen S for this wonderful donation of warm hats with a scarf that matches 2 of the hats.  Thank you also for tagging your hats with size, that is such a benefit--both to me and to all the volunteers at the various shelters.  It aids the item getting on the right shelf; which in turns gets necessary items into the hands of those in need quicker.

Folks you may have noticed the new progress bars in the right hand sidebar.  I'm hoping this will help us see where we are in relation to where we would like to be...to meet our goal of donated items for the homeless that Bridge and Beyond serves.  However, I have discovered that I need to add the numbers to the progress bars when I'm typing the blog posts.  99% of the time, the posts are written and scheduled to post later.  I often type several posts in one sitting and have them scheduled to post even if I'm not sitting here on the computer.  So, the downside of this new system is that what you see in the progress bars reflects whenever I last wrote blog posts, and will typically be ahead of the posts you're reading.  Example.  Yesterday's post, this one and the next 2 are being written...so the numbers for those 4 blog posts are reflected in the numbers in the progress bars.  I'm currently going to try and figure the percentages out once a week, to keep from prefiguring the percentage with each blog post I write.  I had thought, the percentages would be automatically updated, but apparently the html code doesn't do that.

I've posted before the technique she uses for this interesting light - dark side, but it's been awhile so thought I would again, in case anyone is interested in trying it out.

Hat and Scarf Sets Aid Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Karen S for this thoughtful donation.  I've blogged many times about Karen's unusual design with the light and the dark side of scarves.  I'm a big fan.  Please click to see the details, as you always can click to enlarge pictures.  She's made two awesome scarf and hat sets.  The hats are loomed and so nice and warm.

Thank you for tagging your hats with size Karen.  Several posts back I mentioned the various ways people tag their items.  Karen uses one of the methods I mentioned, cutting a shape, and tying it on with left over yarn.  They show up nicely and really help the volunteers at the shelters.

Many thanks Karen for your on going support of Bridge and Beyond.  Fall is upon us and the need for nice warm things will grow.

Pictures of Donations for the Homeless After Being Hacked!

If you read yesterday's post (and if not PLEASE PLEASE do), you know I was hacked and have been without the ability to use my computer and post for sometime.
To give you an idea of what wonderful donations have been pending.  I'm posting these pictures, which will all be discussed in subsequent blog posts.
As note in yesterday's post, some pictures were stuck on my computer without my ability to get to them, others stuck in my camera without the ability to load them anywhere.
Almost all of these wonderful donations had already been bagged for delivery.
A few have come while I was working through the issues.
And, as we'll be catching up....thought you'd enjoy seeing all these wonderful knitted, crocheted, and loomed goodies!

Our weather here as already started to turn.  August in fact might have been one of the coldest I can remember.  Ohio August's are always referred to as the dog days of summer.  Not this year.  The last several weeks of the month we had many mornings with temps in the 50's, which is just crazy.
And now for the last month, we thought we might have what in this area is referred to as Indian Summer....once the kids get back to school it gets super hot.  NOPE, that didn't happen either.
While we've not had frost yet, we have had lots of fog that last several mornings.  Could barely see out the window this am and it didn't clear til around 10:30 am.  Strange weather indeed.  Though mind you, we're not having floods, or hurricanes, or tornado's or earthquakes, or wild fires and for that, I am very grateful.
The fabulous donations are from:
Melinda G, Emily K, Sandie P, Sandra R, Connor W, Karen S, and Joy D.  Not necessarily in that order folks, just reading from notes.

Please know all your donations are very much appreciated.  AND please keep coming back to the blog to see the blog posts with your goodies.

Again Thank you all for your patience.  AND again, if you didn't read yesterday's post PLEASE do.  I want you all to be informed.

Also folks, thought it was time for a new look so have changed the layout, and theme/color of the blog a bit.  Hope you like it.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
