Donation from Maryland Helps Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Patricia W from the state of Maryland, The Old Line State.  Patricia is our newest pair of helping hands.  We're thrilled to have you join us.  Periodically I add the nickname of the state our folks come from.  Not sure I've ever looked up Maryland before because I sure don't remember The Old Line State.  Google tells me it's so named because of George Washington referring to the Regular Line, military men from Maryland who fought so well.  Who knew?

Patricia has been very busy with her crochet hook making hats, and scarves.  She also included a headband/ear-warmer and pair of black ladies gloves that will help keep someone's hands warm.

Please click to enlarge so you can see the details.  On the left side and very top of the picture there are scarves which look like squares, they're just folded so I could get everything in one picture.  These little scarves will be good for the younger set.

Thank you Patricia for your thoughtful donation, welcome to the group, and please know you've made an important difference in the lives of those who will receive your hand made items.

Knitting and Looming to Help the Homeless

Thank you Karen S for this wonderful donation of knitted hats a crocheted scarf.  Please click to enlarge the picture folks so you can see these cute tags she uses to put the sizes on her hats.  Soooooo cute!  The hats are loomed with double yarn and so are always nice and warm and the middle hat could be nicely paired with her scarf to make a nice set.
Before I could get her first donation documented and posted I got a 2nd pouch from her.  Go Karen!  You've been very busy indeed.  She's loomed/knitted 4 more hats and crocheted another scarf.  We're getting good starts on our goals for the year folks.  That's awesome.  Again remember all pictures are clickable so you can see the lovely work each other do.

Thank you Karen for your on going support of Bridge and Beyond and Ohio's Homeless and folks in need.  Please keep up the good work and know you make a big difference in the lives of many.

Sunny Florida Helps Bridge and Beyond Again!

Let's have another drum roll for our 2nd donation of 2020!  And that's two in a row from the sunny state of Florida.  How sweet of our friends from Florida to remember many of us don't share their lovely weather.

This wonderful donation is from our friend Laura E.  AND fun fact, Laura E was our second donation is the year 2019 as well, just spotted that here on Bridge and Beyond.  Hey, Laura, maybe you should go bet on something using the number 2, lol.

Seriously though folks, please take a look at this generous donation.  She has hats of varying sizes all nicely tagged, she has lots of personal care items..........a first aid kit included.......what a great idea!  She's also knitted Grandma's ever popular corner to corner cotton washcloth.  Tissues, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes and more.  AND socks!!

Well done Laura and please keep up the good work and know how many people you've been able to help!

First Donation of 2020 From Sunny Florida

Drum roll!!  Our first donation of 2020.  Thank you Sandra R from sunny Florida.  As most of you know, I've been out of town for an extended time, so this donation while our first of the year has been here for awhile.

Look at this awesome donation from our good friend and long time supporter Sandra R!  Matching sets of mittens and hats, Hats and fingerless gloves/wrist warmers, and additional hats, mitts, and writs warmers.  All beautifully made and tagged with size.  AWESOME!  Lots of folks will be warmed by this wonderful donation.

While this is our first documented donation of the year 2020, I will be playing catch up with all the donations that came during my absence.  Please stay tuned for donations from Laura E, Karen S, Sandie P, and Patricia W.

As always Sandra R, thank you for all you do and please keep up the good work.  YOU make a difference!

Coffee Latte Almost Ready to Donate-Donation Goals for 2020

Coffee Latte.  Some of you may remember seeing this in it's early stages.  Well, it's been worked on off and on and then tucked away for far too long.  I took it with me recently on a vacation to Hilton Head to have something to work on that didn't need to be counted etc.  The stitches on the needle are those closest to you...and this means I have a few solid brown rows left followed by the final section of the brown variegated.  Then the fun of tucking in tails and it finally will be finished and begin our donations for Afghans for the current year (despite having been started last year).

I started with the afghan so you can see the new method of forming our goals for the year.  In 2018 we donated 34 afghans and in 2019, 14.  I have varied through the years how I pick a goal and this year, decided I would not go back for lots of years, but be a simple average of the two most recent years...2018 and 2019.  So with that idea our goal for afghans to donate this year will be 24, which is actually 10 more than we donated last year......but, hey what's a goal if it's too easy to make, lol

So, in the previous post are the total for each of the items we count in our donation totals and I am now resetting each of goal charts/graphs here on Bridge and Beyond.  And with any luck at all, we'll see this one ghan finally completed and counted.

Thanks for your patience, as I was out of town longer than normal in January and February and didn't have the ability to do things here on my blog.  The next post will be the first official donation for calendar year 2020 from our good friend and long time supporter Sandra R from the sunny state of Florida.

Donation Totals for 2019

Please remember you can always click on pictures to enlarge.  And you may need to do that to see the stats.  I no longer have a neat software where I could make grafts so this is a spread sheet from google docs, but they don't let you post/paste it anywhere, so saved it in PDF, the printed it so I could scan it to make it a picture in order to insert here in the blog post.  Thus the quality/sharpness isn't the best.  But, I believe you can read it.

The numbers in red represent where we collected and donated more in the year 2019 then we did in the previous year 2018.  You can see we did better with cotton washcloths, hats, slippers, and socks!  Way to go ladies.

Additionally, you can see the percentage of our goal.  The goal we used for 2019 was an average of the previous 6 years.  We didn't make 100% of goal on any item, but we hit 77% of our goal of 347 for cotton cloths.  AND our sock goal percentage was 74%.  That goal was 152 and we donated 113.  Our 3rd item was scarves, and we hit 55% of our goal on scarves which was 383, you can see we collected and donated 212.

All in all, it looks to me like we warmed and cared for a good number of people.  Some folks change which charities they support over time, and that's ok.  Some folks have found similar charities in their areas, that's good to...it means they are still helping people even if not here through Bridge and Beyond.  So, let's not feel bad that we didn't hit 100% of our goals.  Let's celebrate what we did accomplish.  And on that score we donated more Cotton Washcloths, Hats, Slippers, and Socks.  All items that are greatly appreciated.

Thank you again to everyone who helped with their skills in knitting, crocheting and or looming.  Thank you to all who helped by spreading the word about the need, and thank you to all who visit the blog and also those that leave comments.  You are make difference.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
