Personal Care Donations for Homeless

WOW...look at the volume of this donation of personal care items!  There were many zip lock bags full of tooth brushes, toothpaste, floss, hair spray, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, shaving cream.  There were even a few small sewing kits.  All of this bounty comes from saving samples you get in the mail, toiletries from hotel rooms and small containers of stuff you buy.  Personal care items are needed all year long by our homeless friends who live out in the elements, as well as those that get a night at a shelter.  They're also used and appreciated by those that transition from shelter living to a more permanent housing situation, as they are often added to the welcome home packs to help folks get started.

This donation comes from one of very best friends, Jane C.  If you've heard me mentioned being out of town for a week with the girls....Jane would be one of the "girls".  We've been marvelous friends for over 45 years!

Thank you Jane, keep up the good work.  Lots of folks will benefit from this donation.

Donating Knitted Hats Warms Homeless

Thank you Shelby M for this thoughtful donation of wonderful knitted hats.  Please click to enlarge the picture so you can see the details.  Each hat is a different style, different stitches etc.  Wonderful colors to please a variety of folks in need.  Many thanks too Shelby, for taking time to tag each one with size.  That's appreciated by many people.  It saves enormous time at the various shelters when volunteers separate the donations in order to get things to the right people.

Hard to pick a favorite, but think I'm partial to the green and gray striped hat..

Please keep up the good work, hope to see you here often on Bridge and Beyond.

Team Work Helps Ohio's Homeless

I LOVE this donation!  It's particularly special to me because it's team work at it's finest.  These scarves are the work of a group of young women, Girl Scouts!!  A local Girl Scout Troup learned to knit and used their loving time to make this donation.  Lots of different designs, colors, and sizes of scarves; as well as a neckwarmer/gator/cowl.  I was contacted by their leader, Melissa P.  I really enjoy seeing young people, who often get a bad wrap about being selfish or uncaring, putting their time to such good use.  What a truly wonderful project.  They all learned to knit and to give to those who's needs are greater than their own.  I really do think this is very special.

Thank you Emma P, Maggie P, Jillian G, Ella S, and Bianca C.  The girls rang in age from 14 to 17.  Nice work ladies, you should feel very proud of yourself, I know I am.

Please keep up the good work ladies, and best of luck with whatever your next Scout Project is.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.

Where The People Who Donate Come From, is your state represented?
