Buckeye Blanket Continues to Grow

WOW...where does time go?  Life has been very busy here, I was surprised to see how long it had been since my last post.  Several more rounds on this Buckeye Blanket have taken place since the last post.  And a good bit more since this picture which was in limbo.

I am currently looking into some possible new directions for SOME of our charity knitting and crocheting.  Our primary contact at Homeless Families Foundation is gone, and I'm not yet totally sure how that impacts our relationship with them.  I don't want to speculate on that or these other new possibilities until I have more information.  However, our work does continue in earnest with supplying other shelters and our friend Rae who cares for the Homeless in a very personal way.

So, please stay tuned and continue to let your heart guide you with you yarn, your hook and your knitting needles.

Crocheted Donation From Malmstrom Air Force Base Helps Ohio's Homeless

Thank you Sheena Y at Malmstrom AirForce Base.  Sheena has a group on base called The Crochet Club and they've gotten together and crochet hats, scarves, and slippers.  I don't know how many folks are involved in the Crochet Club or their names; but I can certainly see the size of their caring hearts with this thoughtful donation for Ohio's Homeless.

Notice the items made with red and gray for Buckeyes!  Also, click to enlarge and look at the cute hat on the far right lower corner.  How cute is that.  Some child is going to be really really excited.

Malmstrom Air Force is located in Great Falls, Cascade County, Montana.  It was built in 1941 and is named after Colonel Einar Axel Malmstrom, a World War II POW.

Nice work Crochet Club, and hope to see you here often on Bridge and Beyond.

Buckeye Blanket is Growing

Some headway with Buckeye Blanket here.  You can see a 3rd color, black (well almost a dark charcoal gray) has been added.  Some of the rows are single crochet, some are double crochet to mix up some texture a bit.  The variegated Buckeye yarn is interesting I think, but very course to work with and will need I think more than one round in the wash when completed to soften it up.  I'm always amazed how different yarn can feel....even when it's the same brand and weight.  The solid light gray is Red Heart WW and the variegated in Red Heart WW, but the light gray is much softer.  The dark charcoal/black.....was a dab left over for something that someone donated and is without a label so I don't know what it is, brand wise, but it too is softer than the variegated.

I like to mix things up so won't be doing the same number of rows on each side or within a color.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
