Knitting And More Help Homeless

Thank you Laura E for this wonderful donation.  As you can see, Laura has been very busy with her knitting needles and yarn.  She's included the corner to corner cotton washcloths (granny's favorite), hats,  and scarves.  Click to enlarge as you'll see the set on the far right matching hat and scarf nicely tied together...makes for such a nice gift.  She's also included person care items (toothpaste, toothbrush, and soap).

AND, she's included 9 pairs of warm socks!  Drum roll here, as her 9 pair of socks now puts us over our goal for the year.  Take a look at our graph.  Thrilled to reach and exceed the goal so early in the year; as last year we were pretty light which is why our goal was lower.  So..........let's keep this going.  No need to stop sending socks just because we reached that goal.  Thanks to everyone that helped make this happen.

Many thanks Laura E for your on going support of Bridge and Beytond and Ohio's Homeless and those in need.  You've made a difference, an important one.

Crocheted Cotton Washcloths

Thank you Fran M for your thoughtful donation of cotton washcloths.  Not sure what stitch you used, but these have such nice texture.  Love the variety of colors as well.  Not sure I've come across the variegated in the left top corner before.  Very pretty indeed.

Cotton washcloths are always so well received by shelters, and those living in the elements because they have several uses.  For people on the go that like to work on small things they can tuck into their purses cotton washcloths are a great idea.

It's been awhile since I've made any myself and was just thinking I should check my stash to see what cotton I have.  Might be a good thing to just leave in the car in a zip lock bag for working on here and there.

Hope you're all keeping your hands busy and staying well.  Good luck to all getting your vaccines.

Many thanks Fran and please keep up the good work.

Knitted Warm Hat Sets Aid Ohio's Homeless

Woot Woot!  Looks at this wonderful donation from our friend, Anna W folks.  Please click to enlarge.  She makes wonderful hand/wrist warmers.  They are made on the loom and on me come almost to my elbow (and I have long arms).  These longer wrist warmers really make a difference and the hand portion comes about to my knuckles. So, really these are quite warm.  I LOVE the colors she's chosen.  Black, Brown and sorta camo.  These are colors that won't show the dirt.

She's made matching hats, tagged with size to make a nice set.  13 sets in all, a bakers dozen.  Am I showing my age by saying that?  lol  Bet I am.  The younger set probably doesn't know what that means.

Many thanks Anna for your on going support of Bridge and Beyond and Ohio's Homeless.  As always, know how appreciated you and your knitted warm goodies are.  Keep up the good work.

**Point of clarification folks, I count wrist warmers, fingerless gloves all with the mittens**

New Helping Hands for Bridge and Beyond

's
Say hi and welcome to our newest pair of helping hands, Gabriella S.

Gariella has been busy knitting cotton washcloths and scrubbies.  These will indeed be welcomed.  As you know if you've frequented this blog, Bridge and Beyond; you know the cotton washcloths are used in a variety of ways.  They are used by those homeless getting a night in the shelter for showering, they are used as washcloths and or dishcloths for those living in the elements, and they are packed in welcome home packs as people transition from shelter living to a more permanent housing situation.

The colors and sizes vary too, something for everyone here, male or female.

Many thanks Gabriella for joining us here on Bridge and Beyond to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.  Hope to see you here often.

Warm Dry Feet Help the Homeless

Thank you Sarah S for this generous donation to aid the Homeless.  She's included scarves, cotton washcloths, socks and rain poncho's.  Please click to enlarge to see details.  As you'll notice the rain poncho's are nicely packaged either in zip lock bags or a little pouch. Great idea!!

WOW..check out the socks folks, 48 pairs!  48 pairs of feet are going to be very very happy, dry and warmer.  Such a necessary item all year long.  She's been busy with her hook also, some nice scarves in great solid colors suitable for men or women.  AND she's also crocheted and donated the ever popular cotton washcloths.  Again in colors suitable for men or women.

**Back up folks and take a look at our graphs/goals for socks!  This is amazing and awesome.  we're at 96% of our goal already.  I don't think we've ever done that.  Let's keep the momentum going.  There have been years when we've had higher sock goals, but join me in clapping please.  Pretty exciting.

Many thanks Sarah S.  Your on going support of Bridge and Beyond and Ohio's homeless is so appreciated by many.  Keep up the good work!!

Grandma and Granddaughter Team Up to aid the Homeless

Thank you Janis F for this thoughtful donation of crocheted goodies.  Janet has hats of varying sizes here to fit a variety of head sizes, AND she's added nice size tags which helps everyone.  Helps those at the shelters get items to the right people and helps those receiving them get them easier and quicker.  She's included personal items, a package of those combo glove/mittens, and socks, and a totebag which will be handy for folks trying to keep their few things together ...whether they are living in the elements, or spending nights at a shelter.

I want to also thank Janis's granddaughter who's in the 10th grade.  Her granddaughter helps her with washing, and tagging some of the crocheted items, and uses her own money to purchase some of the personal care items.  Love seeing kids/teens get involved with helping others.  Well done, and what a nice team effort.

As always, please click the picture to enlarge it so you can see the details.  I really like the textured stitches Janis used in her hats and it's nice to have a color variety as well.

Many thanks Janis and granddaughter, please keep up the good work and know you've made an important difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
