Signature Donations for the Homeless

Thank you RoseMarie for your thoughtful donation and your on going support of Bridge and Beyond.  RoseMarie has crocheted and donated a matching hat and scarf set with her signature flower once again.  I know you all know immediately who's donation it is when I post a picture of something she's made.  LOVE this color combination RoseMarie, in fact it might be my favorite of your donations.  She's also crocheted a handband with a decoration as well.

Like Diana K in yesterday's post, there will be additional pictures and posts to show you the rest of RoseMarie's donation.  I often crowd as much as possible into a picture and believe you can see things better if I reduce the number of items in a photo.  So, to improve upon the photo's and to increase the number of blogs posts, since donations are down I'll be breaking things up a bit.  So, please keep checking in folks and don't be shy, when you visit, PLEASE leave a comment so we now you were here.  Visits and comments help the blog's placements, as do the number of blog posts.

Hats and Scarves for the Homeless

 Thank you Diana K for this thoughtful donation of hats, scarves, and cotton washcloths.  Diane's been super busy with her crochet hook and yarn.  Pick a color........she's used it.  Diana sent 2 boxes of donations and I'm going to be showing you her other donations in the days to come.  Donations have been down folks, so thought I'd try dividing things up picture wise in order to post more blog posts...which if you've read the blog over the last 5 or so years you know helps with the SEO and placement of Bridge and Beyond.  Donations have fallen off, the blog's placement has fallen off, comments have fallen off.......so thought it worthwhile to try and boast things a bit.

Diana's scarves are made like a ripple which gives a cool effect and texture to the nice solid colors.  Diana can you share your pattern?  Would love to add this to our scarf tab.  Diane's hats have nice edging and texture also.  Remember you can always click on pictures to enlarge them so you can details better.

Hats for Homeless and those in Need

Scrolling back to about this time last year (Sept 16th), we had knitted/crocheted and donated 575 hats.  As of today we have knitted/crocheted 554+3=557 hats.  I'd say we're pretty consistent with hats from 2013 to now just shy by 18 hats.

This link takes you to the HAT tab with necessary information about sizing, colors, fibers.  There's important information about what not to do, as well as what is necessary in order for our hats to meet the needs of those we serve.  PLEASE read, even if you've been donating here on Bridge and Beyond in the past.  There are a couple of tried and true patterns that you can choose from.  Happy to add other patterns if you have one you feel others would benefit from having, please contact me...use either the contact form or leave a comment.  Sadly, I had to remove my email from the blog as I got hacked and needed to clean up the email, change passwords etc.  All these years, never had that happen and so have removed the email from this blog.

We're focusing this month on KIDS, seems appropriate since they're now back in school.  Where or where did the summer go?  We've had plenty of cool nights already and the kids will be in need as they wait for school buses, as their transported from shelters to schools, and as they play on the playgrounds.

Knitted Hats of Many Sizes

Thank you Cheryl G, another very special friend and former classmate.  If you read the previous post you know our friend, Joy D hand carried her donation on the plane to our class reunion to delivery to me....Well Cheryl did too!  What a wonderful and selfless act of love to perform.  Taking ones time to knit for people you don't know, taking time to hand carry a donation on the plane to catch up with an old friend and classmate to make a donation.  You Rock!

Cheryl's hat pattern will soon be included in our hat tab because it's such a versatile pattern.  Here you can see they look like they're for infants because they look small.  But, they are very stretchy and therefore fit a large variety of head sizes.  She's trying to explain the pattern to me, and I'm, not quite getting it......but we will continue and I'll get it typed up and added.  And...any of you other knitters out there, she and I discussed adding a brim; but .......how would you go about doing that?  Can we pool our brain power here to come up something, sorta pattern A and B with and without a brim for folks?

Bringing Joy to Ohio's Homeless

A very special thank you to Joy D, for this awesome donation.  Hats and scarves, crocheted in many colors sized to fit a variety of people in need.  Joy's work is always so nicely done, solid stitches that hold up well in the elements and provide lots of warmth.  Joy and I are former high school classmates.  We recently had our 45th (wow that's a lot of years) class reunion.  She not only has crocheted, and donated and supported our mission here on Bridge and Beyond many times, but she hand carried this donation on the plane!  That's what I call very special.  

Great work Joy, please keep it up.  Wonderful to see you again at the reunion, hope it's not another 5 years before we're able to visit...knowing our next reunion will be the BIG 50!
