Help comes from The Sunshine State

Thank you Linda in Florida for this thoughful donation of scarves and hats and cowls.  So very much appreciated and, as you know very much needed here in Central Ohio.  As I write this scheduled post, I'm sitting here with a sweatshirt zipped up in the house and am still a bit cold.  Fall is truly upon us.

There was a little bit of room left in your box and searched to see if you'd packaged any sunshine for us....must have forgotten, lol.

Keep up the good work, Linda.

A Matching Set is Donated

Awesome scarf and hat set crocheted by a long time and good friend, Sandie in Louisiana.  Love the detail/texture she's created by using what looks like cables in her crocheted set; believe they are front and back post double or triple crochets?  Many thanks Sandie for your support and your friendship.

Keep up the good work.

Tipping my Hat to lady in Wyoming

Thank you unknown knitter from Wyoming.  5 nice warm crocheted hats, and 8 squares.  This picture turned out a bit dark, but I hope you can see the Buckeye Colors for 3 of the hats, camo for the other 2; and the squares are a dark brown and the colorful variegated.  I appreciate your thoughtful donation.  No note accompanied this donation so if you're out there, please sing out so I add your name etc to our list of helping hands.  There was a return address so I know it's from Wyoming, but would like to have additional information.

Teddy Bear Hugs to Comfort The Wee Ones

Imagine your son, your daughter, niece, nephew, or grandchild cold, afraid and hungry.  They've been tossed out of the house/apt/condo because of financial troubles and or medical troubles of a parent or guardian.  Imagine they don't know where they're going to sleep tonight, whether they'll be warm or cold.  No doubt they too wonder if they're going to sleep hungry.  A terrible situation for anyone, adult or child.  But, so scarey for a child who may be too young to understand what's happening to him and his family.

Remember the love and comfort holding a special Teddy Bear or stuffed animal can bring?  Rachel B from England has knitted and donated 15 Teddy Bear Hugs for those children.  Please click to enlarge so you can see how truly adorable these bears are.  Look at the colors and the details, right down to a knitted scarf around their neck.  Some of cute little Teddy Bears certainly will find their warm into the heart of little girls, while others are geared for little boys who need comfort and a hug.  They are all soft and so cuddly.
I'm holding one here to give you more of close up picture.  Aren't they all precious!  While collecting dolls/toys/ etc is not part of our mission, I was thrilled when Rachel contacted me after reading about our mission to ask if I thought these could be put to good use.  Oh my YES, was my answer.  These will go to Homeless Families Foundation to be used to aid wee ones make the adjustment of their frightening situation.  Thank you Rachel for your thoughtfulness and your skill helping hands!  Hope to see you here often on Bridge and Beyond.  Rachel's listed on the blog log, do hop over and visit with her, I know you'll enjoy looking at all her creations.

Helping Ohio's Homeless is a Year Long Quest

Above you see a wonderful crocheted donation from our friend, Nikki S.  Lots of scarves (11), couple of hats and a warm cowl.  Nice color variety too.  Many thanks Nikki for your thoughtful donation.  It's both appreciated, and very much needed.  I've begun wearing a sweatshirt/fleece etc here in the house; it's no longer comfortable without bundling up.  Temps have been dipping into the 40's at night with some frost.  I fear the good weather is now past.  Presumably we'll have a few nice days here and there, but anyone without heat, or without a roof over their heads now will be in need.

The cold, damp Ohio fall and winters are upon us.  Even on a sunny day, when that sun goes down, it's uncomfortable.  Let's gear up with our yarn, knitting needles, and crochet hooks and do what we can to aid those in need.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
