Drum roll for a new member, LOOK!
I'm super excited that we're off to such a good start for this fall and the coming season.
Got an email that tells me scarves on are in route from Karen (more on that tomorrow), as well as more goodies from Sandie (who keeps giving and giving), and we have 2 additional team members. A couple, husband and wife I'll introduce tomorrow. Please stayed tuned. (this is piece meal, having some issues with picture and compatibility folks that coupled with my longer than normal work week are delaying things a bit.).
Many thanks Shelly! (9 hats)
I've decided to eliminate our goals, which began in our first year. As hats, scarves, and mittens will be appreciated. All are needed and will be used for the homeless folks under the bridge and or the free clinic based upon need/appropriateness.

Hats 187
Mittens 43 pairs
Scarves 109

Good and Bad News to report

These flowers are beautiful, bright and cheery. These are not flowers in my backyard, nor a picture I took; but one in the sample pictures from my new computer. These aren't in my backyard because the weather has turned here in Central Ohio, and flowers are about 98% gone. That never makes me happy because it brings to light the fact people without a roof over their heads will soon be enduring cold, wet miserable Ohio Winters. Together though, we can make a difference in their lives.
On top of the weather turning which to me is also bad news, we received sad news that Rae's mother past a week ago. These Flowers will be our tribute to her in happier times. Rae, though not one of our knitters and crocheters is our connection with these folks under The Bridge. Rae takes our hand knit and crocheted items with her weekly as she takes food to these homeless. Rae on behalf of our entire team, let me express our deepest condolence for your loss.
As in many things in life when one door closes another opens, when bad things happen they're sometimes offset with something positive and good happening. Such is the case here. Today I added 2 new names of team members: Danette and Shelly. I've added links to their blogs and encourage you all to visit and welcome them. I received an email from Danette indicating she had items to donate and needed my address, and Shelly blogged about looking for a good charity and thus we were able to connect. I'm thrilled to have more helping hands, as the cause is great. Shelly has added our badge and blogged about our cause. Many thanks ladies.

DoFollow Blog Log

I am a DO Follow Blog, and I'm thrilled to have this fabulous list of other DO Follow Blogs:
You'll notice I've started deleting blogs from the list (where the blank spaces are). Some of these blogs are no longer do follow, some blogs aren't there anymore, some are re-directs, some are horribly outdated with no new blog posts. Others have comments closed, which certainly defeats the spirit of do follow. I do not wish to give dead blogs, or blogs not really sharing a link. They certainly aren't sharing if comments are closed, or if you have to subscribe before you can leave a comment. As of today, September 5, 2010 I've moved the several groups of blogs to the bottom of the list to give others a chance at the top. I will do this routinely and will note it here by changing the date.
**Additionally I've been making my way through the large list of comments deleting those that obviously are just list an url to get the link; those that are obviously spam. If there are some that seem legitimate when I visit their blogs, I will add them to the list, provided they have the badge and list on their page. By adding the badge visitors know they are a DoFollow Blog, and by adding the list; they're sharing the linky love. Everyone can benefit from this; but those trying to get and not give will not get from me. They have been and will continue to be deleted.

Counting Scarves, One at Time
My last post with numbers shows we're making some headway folks. Thanks bunches for Sandie's consistency. Her projects are always well made, attractive and so appreciated. We're in receipt of another scarf from her. This one is Patriotic-Red-White& Blue. Very nice indeed. Scarf #109
Hats 178 (22 needed to reach goal of 200)
Mittens 43 pairs (57 need to reach goal of 100)
Scarves 109 (91 needed to reach goal of 200)
Hope you all were able to view the last 2 video's I posted here, if not please please scroll back and take a look. I fear the need may be greater than ever. Our weather is turning very quickly, cooler far cooler than what is normal for this time of year. We've closed the windows, have on jeans, and sweatshirts and it's still pretty nippy. Normally it's hot in August, not so much this year. Though that has some blessings for those of us not in need of running the air conditioner; I do worry what that means for on down the road.
Thanks to all who've helped throughout this past year. I'm hoping to reach some new helping hands to enlarge our group of big hearted helpers.

Homeless Experiment, Tent City
I read there are 12,000 homeless in The Columbus/Central Ohio area on any given day. I urge you to watch this for some insight into the problem. Summer will soon be over and people will be cold, wet, and hungry.
Please if I could ask you all to post about our group if you've not done that recently to help spread the word of the need. If you've not posted a link to this blog, please do. You can grab our badge for that purpose. Thank you to all who've helped over this past year, and may we continue to help with our willing hearts and hands.

12,000 Homeless in Columbus
Could I challenge each of you to think about who you know that might be able or willing to help. Maybe you have a neighbor, or co-worker who doesn't use the computer; but knit's or crochets. They can still help. Perhaps they could send socks, socks are needed all year long, in all seasons. Wet cold feet are a problem.
Where are You and Your Yarn From?
Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
