Hats and Wrist Warmers, Oh My

WOW!!  What a wonderful donation from our friend, Anna W from the good state of Tennessee.  LOVE these hats and wrists warmers.  Please click to see details.  Anna has been very busy with her knitting looms.  Hats are a variety a different sizes to fit many different heads in need, and........she has 13 lovely sets of matching hats and wrist warmers.  You may remember some time back I took a picture of my hand in one so you could how nice these are.  They go well up the arm to provide some really good warmth.

In addition to the matching sets, she's included 2 additional wrist warmers and 7 additional hats.  LOVE the nice colors she's chosen.  These colors, mostly solids and some variegated will work well for either a man or a woman.......and these are colors that don't show the dirt as much as lighter colors do...so this is a win win in my book.

Many thanks Anna for taking the time to tag hats with size, so important to expedite getting the donation to those in need.  Please keep up the good work and know how much you have helped.

Knitting Love for Those in Need

Thank you Laura E for this generous donation of knitted goodies!

As you can see, she's been very busy with knitting hats and cotton washcloths.  She's also included lots of personal care items in her latest donation.  The brown hat towards the middle is tied nicely with a matching scarf.  I didn't want to undo the package effect she made, but hope if you click to enlarge the picture you can see it's a matching set.

This are such strange times.  Strange and scary and difficult for many.  Between the extreme changes in weather, cold and frost one day and wet and the next; and then the whole Corona Virus thing.  WOW.  A lot to deal with.

We've had a few warm days here in Central Ohio, but truly only a few.  So please keep your knitting needles and your crochet hooks busy.

Thank you Laura and please keep up the good work and know it truly helps those in need.

Brickyard Afghan is Completed, Being Blocked.

Here's Brickyard fresh out of the wash machine after being laundered.  As you can see the squares/rectangles really vary in size; but it did come together.  It's here now being blocked, drying and then will be ready to donate to Homeless Families Project.  (scroll back to see it's before look), or click HERE

Haven't selected the next project yet.  Need to look at all my project bags and see what calls out to me.

Hope you're all stay healthy and continuing to stay at home.  I hope with this weekend being Easter, families didn't elect to gather together.  I fear if they do, we'll have a resurgence of more cases in the next 5-14 days.

I just watched 2 video's this am, looking for new possible patterns.  One was knitted and one crocheted.....don't know if I'll do something with that, or nab an already designed project bag.  Very in-divisive  at the moment.

What are you all working on?  Do you find you're doing more knitting and or crocheting during our Covid Period?  Are you knitting or crocheting for Bridge and Beyond, or another worthy charity?

Knitted Love from Florida aids Ohioans in Need

Thank you Sandra R, our long time friend from Florida.  As always, look at this marvelous donation of knitted love.  Sandra has been very busy knitting hats to warm a variety of head sizes...and excellent selection of colors and styles.  She's also knitted mittens, so you know I'm clapping and dancing.  And she's also included scarves!  Truly fantastic and so generous.  Please click to enlarge and notice right in the middle of the photo, the matching set of scarlet and gray (Ohio State Buckeye Colors), set of mittens and hat.

Sandra hails from sunny Florida, as I mentioned above.  But, sadly sunny Florida is really experiencing a large number of Corona Virus cases.  Please be safe Sandra.

Many thanks for all you do, and please keep up the good work.  It matters, truly matters!!

Brickyard, The Afghan and Homeless Village

The Brickyard is the nickname for The Indianoplis 400.  Why you might wonder.  The track was started in 1909 but was crushed stone and tar.  It was very dangerous.  It was slippery and caused accidents.  Stones flew up hitting drivers goggles causing accidents and even hitting their cheeks.  The stones and tar were covered over with bricks which was huge improvement.  Gradually bricks were covered with pavement.  By 1937, all but the start finish line were covered.  Drivers knee and kiss the bricks.  Bricks were red, gray, yellowish.....which is what caused me to name this afghan in the works Brickyard.

If you scroll back to the last post you'll it originally laid out.  And here, some headway has been made.  Some (maybe a half the squares) are edged and about 1/3 sized and joined (the left side).  Chipping away.  As you can see not many of the squares are the same size so it's not a quick process.  But, with our stay at home orders, and the weather not being nice enough to get outside much...I do seem to have more time to work on it.

In the midst of these troubling times, perhaps some good news is in order.  These are tents for homeless.  The picture is a link to the full story from The Tampa Bay Times.  100 tents in all, with electric, means of garbage disposal have been built.  It's called Hillsborough Hope.  The article is written by Christophere O'Donnell.  The community and Catholic Charities put this village together to provide housing, food, and medical care to the homeless.  The homeless are very vulnerable right now, even more than ever.  Homeless will be referred here by the police.  The location of this village is being kept a secret for safety and security reasons.

Thank you Hillsborough County, Tampa Florida for thinking of The Homeless, particularly when the governor of the state of Florida still hasn't issued Stay at Home Orders.  Parts of the state are on lock down due to forward thinking mayors trying to protect their cities.

Please do click on the picture to read the whole story.  It's nice to read something good with all the sad news we have currently in front of us.

Where are You and Your Yarn From?

I'm trying to identify where everyone is from, partially for fun. Take a look at the map. Also, believe it will aid me in cases where we have several people with the same name. Please look at the lists of bloggers and non bloggers and see if I have the state you hail from. If not, please leave a comment and let me know.

Additionally, we've had help from Scotland, England, Germany Puerto Rico, Canada, and France! They don't appear on the map, but their help is still greatly appreciated.
