Snowy, Cold, Dangerous Temperatures Difficult for Homeless
Folks across the country have been experiencing severe weather conditions, ice, snow, dangerously low temperatures with many businesses and schools closing. This is a picture I saw posted a few days on Facebook of an area not to far from my house, about 6 miles. Can you feel the cold? This was I believe the day temps were around 10-.
This is why homeless people, and people in shelters need us to knit and crochet warm things such as mittens, hats, scarves, and slippers. Each item has it's own tab with necessary information about sizing, colors, and fibers needed; as well as what is not accepted. Please review the tabs prior to making your thoughtful donations and let me know if you have questions.
*yet another practice for me using the ipad to post pictures and write blog posts.*
All donations regardless of size and number are valued. All donations are appreciated. The Power of One is awesome, and when we work together The Power of One becomes The Power of Many.
This has been one of the worst winters I can remember. My city of Minneapolis and our twin St Paul are trying desperately to find shelter for the homeless, especially the vets, which number around 350. This to me is our greatest shame, that men who have served to defend our country are sleeping on the streets. We are better then that. If we are not, we had better figure a way to improve quickly. Thats why groups like ours are so important. Keep working ladies, and prayers for the homeless.
ReplyDeleteI agree that this is a terrible winter. Finally got up to 26 today, but another storm coming on Sat with 4 to 8 inches of wet snow. I feel so sorry for the homeless in this cold and snow we have had this winter.
ReplyDeleteHow do you measure hats? How many inches around the bottom unstretched?
ReplyDeleteThank you Marj, SSeger and Diana for your visits and taking time to leave comments; both are very much appreciated. Diana, there's a whole bunch of measurements about hats on the hat tab. Yes measuring without stretching, but generally measurements are given for the height, and circ. Marj, right you are, this winter has been nasty in too many places.
