Homeless Experiment, Tent City

While this video isn't talking about homelessness here in Central Ohio, or specific to our Bridge People, I thought it was worth posting to share with you all. Homelessness is a huge problem across this country of ours, one that deserves serious attention.

I read there are 12,000 homeless in The Columbus/Central Ohio area on any given day. I urge you to watch this for some insight into the problem. Summer will soon be over and people will be cold, wet, and hungry.

Please if I could ask you all to post about our group if you've not done that recently to help spread the word of the need. If you've not posted a link to this blog, please do. You can grab our badge for that purpose. Thank you to all who've helped over this past year, and may we continue to help with our willing hearts and hands.

  2. I just finished 95+ knitted hats for the homeless and now I know where to bring them. Hats from baby size to XL. Can I take them there anytime or do I need to get authorized first? I also have other items such as coats, gloves...ect ect. I want to deliver them next week if possible.

  3. Brenda, I'll send you my address. The homeless are scattered in most cities across the country. In some areas they're needing to stay hidden from the cops as well. There are organizations in most major cities, and they all run a bit differently, so don't know if you need to make arrangements to drop things off ahead of time.

  4. Brenda I've attempted to leave you information on your blog, but am unable to do so. I don't belong to Utube and apparently you only permit comments if someone is a member, and or if they subscribe. I looked for a contact you button, but that too required membership in utube for some reason. I couldn't find an email anywhere on your blog. Though perhaps I could contact you through FB, but that also is a closed site.

Love to have you helping us, Ohioans helping Ohioans after all is pretty cool. My email is in the mission at the top of the blog, please make contact if you're interested in sending your donations.

  5. It's a shame that in this country of plenty there should be some with no place to call home. Of course, times are rough now all over with the economy in the shape it's in, but still sad. I know not everyone becomes homeless for the same reason. I'm glad we're able to give some help.

  6. Well said Sandie. It just all seems so wrong to me. I wonder if the problem will ever be completely solved.
